A look back from the Class of 2021 “ I thought this was just a really unique experience. What other program allows you to do a deep dive on a topic for a year and get credit for it? … I certainly think I’ve become a better writer throughout this process, and improved my critical-thinking abilities and research skills.” – ELLA WAHLESTEDT ’21 Ella Wahlestedt ’21, a former member of the Babson Honors Program, on her senior research project, which was grounded in both business and the liberal arts, on how streaming services are affecting independent film and filmmakers. She is now pursuing becoming a film producer.

Students share why they chose Babson During my college search, I was looking for a gym. I found Zumba Fitness. The founder, Alberto Perlman, is a Babson alum (Class of 1998), and a person of color, which I could relate to as a budding entrepreneur. I realized that my ultimate life goal is to be a Babson alumni who breaks that mold of the entrepreneur stereotype, with a mission to leave a positive footprint on the world. Babson was the perfect fit for my aspirations.

Lexie Cheng ’25 Hometown: Rockville, Maryland

I chose Babson because I recognized how they offered their students endless possibilities and opportunities. I also noticed how unique Babson is in the way they choose to structure themselves. They give you entrepreneurial skills and a foundation in every aspect of business to prepare you in whatever industry you end up going into. Additionally, the strong, global network/ community that Babson offers while you are a student and alumni was something that I could not pass up.

Alicia Gaudet ’22 Hometown: Salem, NH

I chose Babson because I wanted a small school with big school resources. I wanted to be at a school where I could leave an imprint and be actively involved and Babson supports you and gives you all the resources to do so.

Noelia Chacon ’23 Hometown: Los Angeles, CA

8 EMPOWER A virtual, entrepreneurial experience for Babson’s rising women leaders.

I came from a smaller school, and I thrived in that community. Babson is close-knit, it’s like family, and that’s what I wanted from my college. A place where everyone would know each other, and our professors would know us. A place where I could reach my full potential. Babson offered that, plus a beautiful campus, and I’m close to home.

Nicole Johns ’23 Hometown: Peabody, MA

I’m deciding between marketing and entrepreneurship. At first, I was thinking that I would do entrepreneurship because Babson is the best known school for it. But now that I’m working as a PR-manager here in Kyiv, I’m really seeing that my goal is deeper, and business communication might be the best fit for me.

Liliia Alieksanova ’25 Hometown: Cherkasy, Ukraine

A friend recommended I check out the Babson website, and when I went to the website I saw things that really wowed me. One of them was the Center for Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership (CWEL). It was also the way Babson students interact with professors. And the resources. That, plus the network, and the friendships that you form as a person. Those were things that really resonated with me, and I thought perhaps it would be a good fit.

Lydia Sammy ’25 Hometown: Nairobi, Kenya

The fact that Babson is a liberal arts and a business school is really something that fascinates me. It gives people like me an opportunity to explore what interests them and what they love. Knowing that I’ll be able to try so many things, and at the end of the day, choosing what interests me the most – that’s something that I really find great about Babson.

Foundations of Management and Entrepreneurship (FME) Learn Business By Doing Business Learn the ins and outs of entrepreneurial leadership from a startup perspective as you develop, launch, and manage a new venture. Communicate, lead, work in a team, manage obstacles, and see a plan through to completion in this yearlong course, required of all first-year students. With guidance from two professors who offer deep expertise in the fields of entrepreneurship and management, you will gain the skills necessary to be successful in whatever path you chart.

“ It puts everything into this crazy course on entrepreneurship. It introduces you to what business and Babson are all about.” – SOPHIA PANTOS ’24

How It Works Throughout the year, two dedicated faculty members—industry professionals—teach you the ins and outs of entrepreneurship, marketing, organizational behavior, and operations, while emphasizing the integrated role these functions have in an organization. Classes of up to 40 students break into teams to use the concepts and tools of Entrepreneurial Thought & Action®, the method of turning ideas into action, to explore a creative opportunity that solves a problem and creates value. Once you determine your idea is feasible, you’ll create a launch plan and must qualify for a loan of up to $3,000 from the College as startup money for your business.

100%

of profits are donated to the team’s service organization.

Since 1999, FME businesses have donated more than $538,000 to local service organizations.

“ FME is one of the things that truly separates the Babson learning experience from the rest. Most schools rely on textbooks and case studies, while the FME experience puts theory into practice, exposing you to many aspects of business you can’t learn in a classroom such as team dynamics and real-time decision making. When it comes to entrepreneurship, there is nothing more valuable than real world experience and FME delivers Babson students with exactly that.” – Dave Heath ’05, Co-Founder and CEO, Bombas

What You’ll Gain The experience is more than just learning how to launch a startup. It’s about exploring career options. It’s about identifying and creating opportunities, understanding your goals, developing the mindset of an entrepreneurial leader, managing team dynamics, and communicating effectively. Above all, it’s about turning ideas into action. These skills are essential to your personal and professional development, and you’ll constantly use them throughout your four years—and throughout your future career.

Experience Campus Tours! Babson is now offering in-person information sessions and tours, and we are excited to welcome you to our beautiful campus. You can also take advantage of our many other ways to experience Babson. From a drive-through campus tour, to self-guided tours—plan your visit today. Here are a few of our favorite tour stops.

PARK MANOR QUAD One hundred percent of our students live on campus their first year, and the Park Manor quad is home to four of our six first-year residence halls. The Quad’s location in the heart of campus makes it a popular destination for interaction, collaboration, and fun. Spend an afternoon on the quad and you can do anything from lounge on an *Adirondack* chair after class, play Frisbee with friends, or attend a campus event, like our clubs and organizations fair.

SORENSON CENTER FOR THE ARTS The Richard W. Sorenson Center for the Arts is the main facility where BabsonARTS programs and events are held. The Sorenson Center includes the Carling-Sorenson Theater, a beautiful 441-seat proscenium theater and the Sandra L. Sorenson Rehearsal Studio that is used for rehearsals and performances. There are also galleries where professional and student artists display their work, and a band room where musicians regularly rehearse and perform.

BRAC All are welcome at the Babson Recreation and Athletics Complex, or BRAC, our state-of-the-art fitness-recreation facility. You can take advantage of three indoor courts, two floors of exercise spaces, and multipurpose studios. Students are welcome to take part in a club or intramural sports such as basketball, indoor soccer, dodgeball, and more. The space includes a 5,000-square-foot weight training floor and a 5,000-square-foot cardio floor.

BABSON COMMONS Babson Commons at Horn Library is our new home to technology-enabled classrooms, the Stephen D. Cutler Center for Investments and Finance, and a wealth of academic resources. At the center of it all is the beautiful Bala Iyer garden, a four-season garden for students to gather in conversation and creativity and enjoy a cup of coffee from our Centennial Café.
