LETTER FROM THE SENIOR DIRECTOR
At Babson, we believe that entrepreneurial leaders need essential global competencies in order to successfully create, grow and steward sustainable economic and social value everywhere The Glavin Office of International Education (Glavin Office) provides students with important global learning opportunities and services to hone these essential intercultural skills.
In 2022/2023, the Glavin Office returned to full programming after several years of rebuilding post-pandemic We also celebrated and launched new milestones and innovations. Most noteworthy, Babson College received a generous gift from a alumnus in 2022 that established the TARCO Global Learning Fund The Global Learning Fund’s goal is to remove financial and other barriers that keep Babson students from international learning opportunities. The Glavin Office put the funding immediately to use by awarding service and education abroad scholarships, admission to intentionally-focused events and training for faculty on new global learning methodology In one semester, the TARCO Global Learning Fund impacted 74 undergraduate and graduate students.
Other highlights featured in this year ’ s report are data about our vibrant international student and scholar community International student enrollment in Fall 2022 increased by 22 percent over Fall 2021 and represented 87 countries! Additionally, education abroad programming and enrollment made a full recovery this year. We ran 15 Short-Term Programs and 304 students spent a summer, semester or academic year studying with one of our prestigious partners abroad Finally, Babson was recognized by the U.S. Fulbright U.S. Student Program as a Top Producer for Fulbright awards this year, International Education Week experienced unprecedented student participation and 11 Glavin Global Fellows earned the GGF Badge
The Glavin Office is so grateful for the faculty, staff and international partners who collaborate with us to bring innovative and engaging global learning to our students We hope you find the report useful and a testament to Babson’s internationalization success story, particularly as it relates to students’ global engagement with the world.

Education abroad has become increasingly accessible for students at Babson regardless of their concentration, financial need, or demographic background. The team uses a holistic advising model in collaboration with campus partners to support a diverse population of students throughout their education abroad plans, including curriculum integration and credit transfer, financial support, and identity exploration
Participation in education abroad at Babson has increased steadily over the past decade, though greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in 20202021 The 2022-2023 academic year saw a tremendous return to semester abroad with high student demand for traditional, fully in-person programs 304 total students participated in semester/summer/AY abroad 2022-2023, This demand comes at a strategic time for the College as space in courses and housing on campus remains tight, providing an opportunity for education abroad to contribute to an overall enrollment strategy.

Student Reflections
Password Sudjitporn, '24 Waseda University (Spring 2023)
"As an international student from Bangkok, Thailand, I treasure the experience of studying and learning in other countries dearly Not only does it bring me unique experiences and new perspective of each country, but it also allows me to be exposed to new cultures, languages, and professional developments.
I believe that studying abroad is one of the most transformative experiences a student can have I had the opportunity to study abroad in Sydney, Australia and it was an experience that changed my life, the best decision I have ever made I learned so much about myself and Australia’s culture
“My experience studying abroad during the Fall 2022 Semester was a very impactful one. It pushed me to see the world in new ways I also got to learn about and experience different cultures Having dinner with my host family and struggling to have a conversation in French, this pushed [me] to try harder to learn the language
I think the study abroad experience is a great way for Babson students to explore and become inspired, while also developing a more global mindset ”

Travel Courses Bounce Back
This year the Short-Term Programs team, in collaboration with Babson’s faculty, was able to offer a full slate of faculty-led Electives Abroad and International Consulting Experiences. 278 graduate and undergraduate students were able to choose from 15 opportunities led by faculty taking place in 12 different countries The team works closely with faculty members to connect Babson course work with a chance to travel and learn outside the classroom
One of the unique findings in AY22-23 was that 14 students participated in multiple short-term programs. It was suspected that this was due to inability to travel due to the pandemic, which was confirmed by one student who reported “this was my chance to go abroad after my plan for a semester abroad was altered due to COVID.”

"As a person who has always been passionate about understanding the health care system and who always dreamed of working in this area when growing up, the trip to Rwanda was so educative in lots of ways From the hospital visits to talking to people in different sectors, I got to see my country in a way that I have never seen before and that is when I realized how much of an impact Babson and UGHE are making in Rwanda
