Police hunt for Zim woman

Police are looking for a Zimbabwean National female who attempted to help a trial awaiting prisoner escape from the Nigel Correctional Centre in March. According to police spokesperson Capt
Police are looking for this woman, Antoinette Khalumbo in connection with a fraud case. A Warrant for her arrest has been issued and anyone with information phone D/W/O Wilkie Wilkinson on 011 739 9819/9806 or 083 779 5230.
Piet Rossouw, Antoinette Khalumbo is believed to be the girlfriend of the prisoner who is incarcerated on charges of ID fraud. The initial investigation started in 2014, following identification fraud complaints that were laid against a man who posed as a medical doctor. According to Capt Rossouw, the fake doctor had worked at several well known medical institutions from Cape Town to Limpopo, allegedly prescribing medicine to patients, and acting as locum practitioner at several private practises for the past five years. Through extensive investigation by D/W/O Wilkie Wilkinson from Nigel Detective Branch, it was discovered the conman never set foot in any medical school. He was arrested by D/W/O Wilkinson earlier this year in Grootvlei and detained at Nigel Correctional Centre where he was
awaiting trial. On March 30, Khalumbo visited her boyfriend in prison and according Capt Rossouw, this is where the conman thought he could outsmart the law again by attempting to escape with the stolen ID of another inmate. The ID card belonged to a prisoner who was about to be released on bail. “During her visit, she paid R500 towards bail for a prisoner that was about to be released,” Capt Rossouw told Rekord. Prison officials however, discovered that the conman’s fingerprints did not match those on the ID card, and realised he had impersonated another inmate in order to
be released. He was subsequently transferred to another prison, and will appear in Nigel Magistrate’s Court soon. Capt Rossouw pleaded with the public to help the police in locating the woman in question. A Warrant for her arrest has been issued and it could be detrimental to the case is she is not found. The eviction of residents from the Marievale military base has temporarily been placed on hold, following an intervention by DA councillor Wollaston Labuschagne on May 26. The previous day from around 16:00, residents wanting to enter the premises on foot or by car, were denied access and told by senior army officials that they have 24 hours to pack up their belongings and vacate their houses. Military police proceeded to search the premises for illegal substances and according to police spokesperson Capt Thivhulawi Tshilate, 10 people were arrested after they failed to produce valid residential papers or legal passport documents. For the past two years, residents have been bombarded with threats of eviction and warned that the military is at an advanced stage of executing a court order to have all residents evicted. The army claimed it needed to renovate buildings that were in
a dilapidated state and prepare living units for its soldiers, but the continuous influx of illegal occupants proved to be detrimental to the cause. As it stands, most of the buildings and structures are in a severe state of neglect and roads are nearly inaccessible. These days, some buildings such as the former recreational hall are occupied by illegal immigrants however, residents such as

Fatal shooting Police in Duduza are investigating a murder case, following a fatal shooting at Driemanskap on May 23. According to police spokesperson Capt Thivhulawi Tshilate, police received a complaint about a shooting that occurred next to the railway station around 21:00. Upon arrival, they found a 35 year old male in a pool of blood with seven bullet wounds to his body. He was declared dead on the scene by an intermediate life support paramedic from Emer-G-Med. The suspect and motive for the shooting are unknown

legal document to justify the planned evictions. “It is unconstitutional. The Department of Human Settlements needs to intervene and either provide us with alternative housing or land to build new houses. I think the truth behind the evictions is being upheld, as unconfirmed rumours have it that management of a local coal mine is in cahoots with the government, to obtain the land for mining purposes,” Raymond told Rekord. “I strongly reject this allegation,” Cllr Labuschagne said in reply and assured residents that there is no truth behind the rumour. He told Rekord he met with senior army off icials on May 26 and that an agreement was reached to place the evictions on hold, until a resolution is found to provide qualifying residents with alternative accommodation. Meanwhile, Cllr Labuschagne will act as mediator between residents of Marievale military base and senior army officials, in order to restore calm and find a feasible solution.

Weg met spanning Lede van Nigel VLU het op 11 Mei vir hul 722ste vergadering byeengekom, waar Hettie Botha as gasvrou, die verrigtinge met skriflesing en gebed geopen het. Nadat die voorsitter Ronel Lombaard almal welkom geheet het, is die gasspreker René Taylor aan die woord gestel. René is ‘n kundige op die gebied van pynbehandeling en stresontlading. Sy het ondermeer die uitwerking en toepassing van “body stress release” op die liggaam bespreek en het verduidelik dat pyn soms aan volgehoue spanning toegeskryf kan word. Sy het ook verduidelik watter tipe behandeling vir watter tipe pyn kan werk en dat dit belangrik is om die liggaam van spanning te bevry. Die proses bekend as “body stress release” is deesdae by ‘n
plaaslike apteek in Nigel beskikbaar, maar dit is noodsaaklik om vooraf ‘n afspraak te reël. Daarna het Ronel die vergadering verder gelei deur belangrike datums en aktiwiteite te bespreek. Van die datums en geleenthede wat uitgelig was, is die kongres in Augustus te Meulstroom, asook die tak se fondsinsamelingsfunksie op 1 Junie. Na afloop van die vergadering het almal weggelê aan heerlike gevulde pannekoeke en melktert wat Hettie Botha en haar teedames Ritah Lubbe, Letitia Bester en Monica McAlpine voorgesit het. An explosion from a gas cylinder at a house in Rensburg, has left a family man with severe burn wounds and parts of his house in ruins. The explosion occurred around 20:00 on May 21. Heidelberg Volunteer Medics (HVM) responded to the call around 20:20. Upon arrival, medics found 42-year old Banie Coetzee with severe injuries (including airway burns). It is believed the explosion was caused by a leaking gas bottle, which Banie had moved from his house to the garage the previous day. Police spokesperson Capt Thivhulawi Tshilate confirmed that the explosion occurred when Banie, while loading furniture on his bakkie in the garage, absent-mindedly lit a cigarette. He sustained first and second

Wees gasveilig vir 2017! R249 Die gas wat ons in ons huishoudelike gasbottels gebruik, staan as Vloeibare Petroleum Gas (VPG) oftewel “Liquid Petroleum Gas bekend. Ons gebruik dit omdat dit maklik ontvlam en is gevolglik ideaal vir die opwekking van hitte (verwarmers) en lig (lampe). Die gas wat in jou huishoudelike gasbottel is, is dus eintlik ‘n vloeistof. Die vloeistof is onder druk in die gasbottel en sodra dit uitgelaat word verander dit in gas. Dis ook hier waar die gevaar van VPG lê. Een liter vloeibare petroleum sit tot 270 liter gas uit. Verder moet onthou word dat die gas 1,5 keer swaarder as lug is en gevolglik sak die gas grond toe en konsentreer daar. Veilig dink en doen as jy met gas werk is dus noodsaaklik. Hier is ‘n paar wenke oor gasbottels: 1. Maak seker die klep lek nie (onthou, lekkende gas kan geruik maar nie gesien word nie);
2. As gevolg van die aard van gas, kan ‘n oop vlam by ‘n lekkende bottel, ‘n ontploffing veroorsaak (sien die berig oor ‘n gas-ontploffing wat verlede naweek in Rensburg plaasgevind het); 3. Vrou-wees is belangrik, hoor Rensburg VLU ‘Vandag se vrou’ was die tema onder bespreking tydens Rensburg VLU se vergadering op 17 Mei, waartydens Leni Joubert (oud-onderwyser) as gasspreekster opgetree het. Die vergadering is deur Heilie Van den Berg byeengeroep, waarna Lenie aan die woord gestel is. Sy het die onderwerp selfmoord onder kinders aangeraak en ‘n staaltjie vertel van ‘n vyfjarige seun wat jare gelede in die Weskoppies Psigiatriese eenheid opgeneem is, as gevolg van probleme met aggressie. Die seun was daagliks terwyl sy ouers by die werk was, alleen in ‘n woonstel toegesluit. Op ‘n dag het hy egter
ontsnap, waarop hy ‘n vreemde man op straat aangeval het. Die gevolge van sy dade was dat die seun vir die res van sy lewe in ‘n psigiatriese eenheid sal spandeer. Verder het sy vandag se vrou in drie kategorieë ingedeel naamlik die outokratiese vrou, die onbetrokke vrou en die akkommoderende vrou. Dankbaarheid... Dankbaarheid is ‘n gesindheid, ‘n getuienis en ‘n karaktereienskap. Dis ‘n bewys dat ek aanvaar dat my Vader wat in my belangstel weet wat ek nodig het. Die Apostel Paulus vat dit saam in die sesde hoofstuk van sy eerste brief aan Timotius vanaf vers drie tot agt..’As iemand iets anders leer en nie instem met die gesonde woorde van onse Here Jesus Christus en met die leer wat volgens die godsaligheid is nie, dié is verwaand en verstaan niks nie, maar het ‘n sieklike sug na twisvrae en woordestryd waaruit ontstaan afguns, twis, lasteringe, bose agterdog, nuttelose stryery van mense wat verdorwe in hulle verstand en van die waarheid beroof is en dink dat die godsaligheid winsgewend is..’ Dan gebied hy Timotius: ’Onttrek jou aan sulke mense!’ Waarom onttrek? Omdat die moontlikheid bestaan dat ondankbaarheid en onvergenoegdheid ander negatief kan beinvloed. Dan volg ongeloof, en negatiwiteit. 1 Tim 6: 6-8: ‘Maar die godsaligheid saam met vergenoegdheid is ‘n groot wins. Want ons het niks in die wêreld ingebring nie; dit is duidelik dat ons ook niks daaruit kan wegdra nie. Maar as ons voedsel en klere het, moet ons daarmee vergenoeg wees’. Police in Springs arrested a 42-year old Nigerian National on May 19, following a tip-off about the man who allegedly kidnapped a number of teenagers between 14 and 17 years, to use as sex slaves. The suspect was found in possession of pornographic material and drugs. According to Capt Thivhulawi Tshilate from the Ekurhuleni East Cluster corporate communication, it is believed the man was about to move the girls to another location, when police arrested him. A 17-year old woman was also found at the property and is being investigated by the police for possible involvement. “The woman was recruiting young girls‚” Capt Tshilate

explained. The girls were found in a flat at Park Station but they are originally from the Balfour and Kwa-Thema area. Meanwhile‚ police have since established that the 42-year old Nigerian national they arrested has other pending matters against him. “He has a pending case of rape and kidnapping a 19-year old girl from KwaThema. New private school to open soon in Dunnottar South African scholars deserve an education that best serves their needs without compromise. Vopak South Africa Developments (VSAD), the world’s largest independent tank operator specialising in the storage and handling of chemical and oil products, is proposing to develop a storage tank farm known as the VSAD Lesedi Terminal, in Heidelberg, Lesedi Local Municipality. The terminal will be situated adjacent to Transnet’s Pipelines Accumulation Facility at Jameson Park. VSAD’s proposed Lesedi Terminal will occupy a footprint of 240 000m2 and will consist of 24 tanks storing hydrocarbons including petrol, diesel, and aviation/jet fuel. The total capacity is 300 000m3. Associated infrastructure may include a rail loading area and product transfer lines linking the facility to the Transnet Pipelines Accumulation Facility. The following activities of the proposed operations trigger water uses as per Section 21 of the National Water Act (Act 36 of 1998) (NWA): · Section 21 (b) Storing water; · Section 21 (c) Impeding or diverting the flow of a water course; · Section 21 (g) Disposing of waste in a manner that may detrimentally impact on a water resource; and · Section 21 (i) Altering the bed, banks, course or characteristics of a water course. Suikerbosrand Atletiekklub het op 13 Mei sy eerste landloopliga (Atletiek Vaaldriehoek) by John Vorster Stadion in Nigel aangebied, waar 25 van die klub se atlete uiters koue toestande trotseer het. Die dogters se uitslae is as volg: o/8wenner - Lohané Aucamp; o/9-wenner Alexia Johnson; o/10-wenner - Jané Wepener met Luné Wepener in tweedeplek en Layla van der Merwe in derdeplek. In die o/11-afdeling was Jolaine Aucamp derde en Inge Vos vyfde. Deseré Steynberg het tweedeplek in die o/12-afdeling behaal en Anja Lourens derdeplek. Die wenner van die o/13-afdeling van Annericke Bornman, terwyl Sarien Botha tweedeplek in die o/15-afdeling behaal het. Tegan Strydom het die wenstreep eerste in die o/ 16-afdeling oorgesteek en Mintie-Louise Botha was algeheel eerste in die junior vroue afdeling. Die seuns het ook uitstekend gevaar met Ricus Bornman as wenner van die o/8afdeling en Juan Pear Delport as wenner van die o/9-afdeling. Biehan Wepener het die o/10-afdeling gewen en in die o/11afdeling was Giovanni Coetzee derde met Anton Button in vierdeplek. Johan Delport was tweede in die o/12-afdeling, met Michael Doubell kort op sy hakke in derdeplek en Mathew Senekal in vyfdeplek. In die o/13-afdeling het Nihann Botha derde geëindig en Henk Pienaar vierde in die o/15-afdeling. Nicky Botha het geseëvier in die mans ouderdom 40-49 afdeling.
