At Back to the Roots, we believe that this new aquaponics product has to be launched. It’s not just a garden – it’s a tool that helps become self-sufficient and helps teach where food comes from as well as how to eat healthy. The Aquaponics Garden makes it possible for anyone – teachers, families, gardeners, foodies – to grow their own food sustainably and regardless of space.
Back to the Roots needs your support! We can’t launch this product alone. Nikhil Arora and Alejandro Velez founded Back to the Roots immediately upon graduation from UC Berkeley in 2009. Ever since, they’ve been bootstrapping their urban farm to bring sustainable, delicious food to everyone. Now, to make this system widely available, BTTR needs to raise $100,000 by selling 2000 preorders on Kickstarter in 30 days starting on Monday, November 15 th . This will cover: Initial production costs The minimum manufacturer’s order Rewards for Kickstarter backers include: the aquaponics garden, a spot at the BTTR company retreat, a personal tour of the urban farm, and your name on every aquaponics garden as a thank you.
A closed loop growing system that mimics the natural symbiotic relationship between plants and fish. Fish release waste into the water, and the water is then pumped up to the garden to fertilize the plants. In turn, the plants clean the water for the fish and then the water trickles back down into the fish tank.
