the rock faces of the Falkert, because here with a bit of luck you will be able to watch the chamois. Continuing on hiking trail no. 09 the route goes slightly downhill onto the Schwarzkofel (1,723 metres) and then somewhat more steeply downhill via Alpine meadows and through light stocks of larch trees to the Moschelitzenalm Alpine pasture. From here we follow the old roadway as far as the Plaßbichlsattel and then change to the “Rottenstein/Bad Kleinkirchheim” hiking trail, which leads directly to the “Måtl Sepp” tavern. It is well worth stopping here in any event for a bite to eat and to take a look at the old watermill and the valerian sculpture. The trail leads on along the Kirchheim Valley halfway up the slope, past the Streitnighof tavern, following the road through the Zirkitzen district and all the way to Bad Kleinkirchheim.
Description Summary The scent of Alpine valerian, the “gold of the Nockberge Mountains”, accompanies this stage of the Alpe Adria Trail which starts at the Falkerthaus and offers a wide variety of views. The trail leads to the Falkert and the Rödresnock via the Hundsfeldscharte. Following the scent of valerian you will hike across the Schwarzkofel to the “Måtl Sepp” tavern, and then on towards Bad Kleinkirchheim.
Description From the Falkerthaus the route first goes along the road and past the Lärchenhütte lodge to the Hundsfeldhütte lodge. Here hiking trail no. 11 goes uphill rather steeply following the mountain stream as far as the Hundsfeldscharte. Here you change to hiking trail no. 09 and tackle the final ascent onto the Falkert (2,308 metres). From the Falkert there is an impressive view of the Nockberge Mountains, and if your eyesight is good enough you can see as far as the mountain village of St. Lorenzen ob Reichenau and to the Karawanken. To orientate yourself more easily, on the Falkert you will find a stone tablet showing the most important mountains in the surrounding area. After a short rest, a somewhat stony descent will take you down to the Falkertscharte and further on to the wide mountain ridge towards the Rödresnock (2,310 metres). From the Rödresnock it is worth taking a look back onto

Directions We start our hike at around 1,557 metres, where the forest road branches off to the Falkerthaus towards the Lärchenhütte mountain lodge. We follow the forest road through the larch and spruce forest past the Lärchenhütte towards the Hundsfeldscharte. At the Hundsfeldhütte lodge the road changes to a track. After an ascent of about 20 minutes we reach the Hundsfeldscharte and are rewarded with a magnificent view of the summits of the Nockberge Mountains. After another 20 minutes we have

Long distance hiking trail Stage No. 16 of the Alpe Adria Trail: Falkerthaus/Lärchenhütte - Bad Kleinkirchheim reached the summit cross on the Falkert. From the Falkert our route continues across the Falkertscharte to the Rödresnock, at 2,310 metres the highest point of today’s hike. From here the trail follows the scent of the Alpine valerian and leads across gentle Alpine meadows to the Schwarzkofel and then on to the Moschelitzenalm. We hike through forests with old larch and spruce trees to the “Måtl Sepp” tavern. Next to the valerian sculpture we breathe in the scent of this ancient medicinal plant, which has accompanied us all day on our tour, one last time. We stop and rest at this magical place, enjoying the rays of the afternoon sun. The trail then leads us on via field paths and asphalt farm access tracks to Bad Kleinkirchheim. A spring which was tapped in medieval times flows through the crypt beneath the Church of St. Kathrein and has been attributed with healing effects since time immemorial. The road into the centre of the village takes us right to the finishing point of today’s stage, the tourist information office in Bad Kleinkirchheim.
