Did You Know? Guide to fabric selection
Fabrics can make or break contract furniture. Choose well, and they’ll look good for years. Choose poorly, and they will look old before their time and require a premature face-lift. So, how do you go about choosing fabrics for furniture? Well, colour and design will understandably come pretty high on the list, but once that’s nailed then fabric composition, technical performance and end-use area should really drive your fabric decision making. Keep on reading and we’ll cover the main bases and give you some interesting textile teachings.
Did You Know? • That fabrics don’t wear out, they “ugly” out, but a carefully specified fabric can look good and last for years. • That in many interior schemes wool works best, simply out- classing and out-performing the man-made synthetics such as polyester. • That we also offer fully waterproof fabrics and vinyls for those tougher than usual contract upholstery scenarios.
