Mae BAFTA Cymru yn rhoi llwyfan i ragoriaeth ac yn dathlu cyflawniadau llawer o bobl o fewn y diwydiant creadigol. Ei genhadaeth yw cefnogi, datblygu a hyrwyddo ffurfiau ar gelfyddyd y ddelwedd symudol, gan gydnabod a gwobrwyo rhagoriaeth ac ysbrydoli ymarferwyr yng Nghymru.Trwy gydol y flwyddyn, mae tîm BAFTA Cymru, dan arweiniad Hannah Raybould, wedi trefnu ystod lawn o ddigwyddiadau, a oedd yn cynnwys sgriniadau, paneli, cyfweliadau, dosbarthiadau meistr, seminarau a darlithoedd. Hoffwn gymryd y cyfle hwn i ddiolch i Hannah a’i thîm am eu holl waith caled yn ystod blwyddyn gyffrous o gynnydd mewn gweithgarwch drwyddi draw. Yn fy neges y llynedd, rhoddais ddiolch i Dewi Vaughan Owen, sef fy rhagflaenydd fel Cadeirydd BAFTA Cymru a fu yn y swydd am bum mlynedd. Gweithiodd yn ddiflino i sicrhau bod BAFTA Cymru’n adeiladu llwyfan sefydlog ar gyfer y dyfodol. Er tristwch i bawb a gafodd yr anrhydedd o’i adnabod ac o weithio gydag ef, bu farw’n ddisymwth yn gynharach eleni. Ar ran BAFTA Cymru, hoffwn fynegi ein cydymdeimlad didwyll i’w wraig a’i deulu. Roedd Dewi’n allweddol o ran sefydlu Gwobr BAFTA Cymru ar gyfer Gemau a Phrofiad Rhyngweithiol, a gyflwynwyd gan Chris Corcoran eleni ac a gynhaliwyd yn Neuadd y Ddinas Caerdydd. Byddwn bob amser yn ddiolchgar am ei gyfraniad sylweddol. Rydym yn ffodus dros ben bod llawer iawn o bobl o fewn y diwydiant yn rhoi eu hamser yn rhydd i gynorthwyo â gweithgareddau BAFTA Cymru ymhellach, trwy gyfrannu i bwyllgor ac is-bwyllgorau BAFTA Cymru ar gyfer Gwobrau, Digwyddiadau a Chyllid. Hefyd yn ystod y flwyddyn, ail-sefydlwyd is-bwyllgor BAFTA ar gyfer Gogledd Cymru i gynyddu gweithgarwch ac ymgysylltiad ar hyd a lled Cymru.
Hoffwn ddiolch i bawb sydd wedi cyfrannu yn ystod y flwyddyn i waith yr holl bwyllgorau hyn. Mae cynnal amrywiaeth o ddigwyddiadau a gweithgareddau yn amhosibl heb gefnogaeth barhaus noddwyr. Eleni, mae’r seremoni wobrwyo wedi elwa ar gymorth a mewnbwn gan nifer o noddwyr allweddol. Hoffwn ddiolch i bob un ohonynt am eu cefnogaeth werthfawr. Diolch hefyd i BBC Cymru Wales, S4C, Llywodraeth Cymru ac ITV Cymru Wales am eu cefnogaeth barhaus trwy gydol y flwyddyn. Bydd sioe heno’n cael ei chynhyrchu am y tro cyntaf gan David Mahoney, ein cynhyrchydd gwobrau, a’i chyfarwyddo gan Alun Jenkins, ac rwyf yn dymuno noson dda iddynt. Hefyd, bydd y seremoni eleni’n arddangos y gorau o’n doniau creadigol yn fyw am y drydedd flwyddyn trwy wefan BAFTA: www.bafta.org/cymru, gan sicrhau trwy hynny y bydd y gorau sydd gan Gymru i’w gynnig yn cael ei weld gan y cynulleidfaoedd mwyaf eang posibl. Hoffwn groesawu Anne Morrison, Cadeirydd BAFTA UK, i’r digwyddiad a diolch iddi hi ac Amanda Berry, Prif Weithredwr yr Academi, a Kevin Price, y Prif Swyddog Gweithredol, am eu cefnogaeth barhaus i’r digwyddiad ac i waith BAFTA Cymru yn ystod y flwyddyn. Yn olaf, diolch hefyd i’n cyflwynydd, Huw Stephens, sy’n cyflwyno Gwobrau’r Academi Brydeinig yng Nghymru am y tro cyntaf. Ond heno, wrth gwrs bydd llawer iawn mwy nag un seren yn ein sioe.Yn ôl yr arfer, ein rhestr o enwebeion yw’r gorau yng Nghymru ym mhob un o’n categorïau nodedig.Yn bersonol, ac ar ran BAFTA Cymru, rwy’n eu llongyfarch nhw oll yn wresog ac yn dymuno pob llwyddiant iddynt. Bafta Cymru Chairman s Message Welcome to the St Davids Hall and to the 24th British Academy Cymru Awards. These awards are now a prominent event in the Welsh media calendar. They are made possible by the diverse range of programme makers, actors, writers, musicians, contributors and production personnel that have contributed towards entertaining audiences in Wales and beyond over the past year.Tonight is a celebration of their talent. BAFTA Cymru provides a platform for excellence and celebrates the achievements of many within the creative industry. Its mission is to support, develop and promote the art forms of the moving image, by identifying and rewarding excellence and inspiring practitioners within Wales. Throughout the year the team at BAFTA Cymru, led by Hannah Raybould, organised a full range of events, which included screenings, panels, interviews, masterclasses, seminars and lectures. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Hannah and her team for all their hard work during an exciting year of increased activity across the board. In my message last year, I thanked Dewi Vaughan Owen, who was my predecessor as Chairman of BAFTA Cymru and held the post for 5 years. He worked tirelessly to make sure that BAFTA Cymru built a stable platform for future years. Sadly, for all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him, he passed away suddenly during the first half of the year. On behalf of BAFTA Cymru, I’d like to extend our sincere condolences to his wife and family. Dewi was instrumental in establishing the BAFTA Cymru Award for Games and Interactive Experience, which were hosted this year by Chris Corcoran and held at Cardiff City Hall. We will always be grateful for his substantial contribution. We are extremely fortunate that large numbers of people within the industry give their time freely to help further BAFTA Cymru’s activities, by contributing to the BAFTA Cymru committee and sub committees for Awards, Events and Finance. During the year we also re-established a BAFTA sub-committee for North Wales to further increase activity and engagement across the length and breadth of Wales. I would like to thank everyone that contributed during the year to the work of all of these committees.
Maintaining a range of events and activities is impossible without the continued support of sponsors. This year the awards ceremony has benefitted from the help and input from a number of key sponsors. I would like to thank them all for their invaluable support. Thanks also to BBC Cymru Wales, S4C, Welsh Government and ITV Wales for their continuing support throughout the year. Tonight’s show will be presented for the first time by David Mahoney, our awards producer and will be directed by Alun Jenkins, and I wish them well for the evening. The ceremony will also this year be showcasing the best of our creative talents live for the 3rd year via the BAFTA web site: www.bafta.org/wales, thus ensuring that the best that Wales has to offer is seen by the widest possible audience. I would like to welcome Anne Morrison, Chair of BAFTA UK, to the event and thank her and Amanda Berry, Chief Executive of the Academy, and Kevin Price, the Chief Operating Officer, for their continuing support for the event and the work of BAFTA Cymru during the year. Finally, thanks also to our host Huw Stephens, who is presenting the British Academy Cymru Awards for the first time. But tonight, there will of course be so many more than one star of our show. As ever, our list of nominees is the cream of Wales’ crop in each and every one of our distinguished categories. Personally, and on behalf of BAFTA Cymru, I offer heartfelt congratulations to them all and wish them every success.
Ian Jones Chairman BAFTA Cymru

Y tu hwnt i wobrau ffilm a theledu heno, a’r rhai ar gyfer Gemau a Phrofiad Rhyngweithiol a gyflwynom ym mis Mehefin, mae BAFTA Cymru’n cynnal rhaglen ddynamig ac amrywiol o ddigwyddiadau yma yng Nghymru. Mae ein gweithgarwch wedi lledaenu ledled y wlad, trwy gydol y flwyddyn, o ganlyniad i’n hymrwymiad i ddatblygu doniau newydd a datblygol a’r archwaeth gynyddol ymhlith aelodau BAFTA, sef y prif rwydwaith ar gyfer gweithwyr proffesiynol mewn ffilm, teledu a gemau, am ddigwyddiadau a mentrau sydd o fudd i’w gyrfaoedd. Ar adeg ysgrifennu hyn, rydym wedi cynhyrchu 40 o ddigwyddiadau ers mis Ionawr, ac wedi lansio mentrau newydd gan gynnwys Gyrfa Craff, sy’n cefnogi aelodau ar ddechrau eu gyrfaoedd gyda chyfleoedd rheolaidd i rwydweithio a mynychu digwyddiadau ledled y wlad.
Diolch i staff BAFTA yma yng Nghymru, Hannah Raybould â’i thîm ymroddgar, sef Rebecca Hardy, Llio Wyn, Emma Price, Holly Jones a Maxine Dedominicis, sydd bob un ohonynt wedi gweithio gyda chymaint o ymrwymiad ar ran yr Academi trwy gydol y flwyddyn; i’r Pwyllgor, dan arweinyddiaeth fedrus Ian Jones yn ei ail dymor; i’n cyflwynydd newydd, Huw Stephens, ac i BBC Cymru Wales, S4C, Llywodraeth Cymru ac ITV Cymru Wales am eu cefnogaeth barhaus i’n cenhadaeth. Yn olaf, diolch i’r holl enwebeion, y mae eu gwaith celfydd dyst i’r rhagoriaeth barhaus yn niwydiannau’r ddelwedd symudol yng Nghymru. Dymunaf noson hyfryd i chi. Anne Morrison Cadeirydd yr Academi

Bafta (UK) Chairman s Message
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to this year’s British Academy Cymru Awards. Tonight’s ceremony marks the 24th year that BAFTA Cymru has acknowledged and rewarded excellence in the Welsh film and television production sectors. Congratulations in particular to our Special Award winners, the brilliant television director Euros Lyn and the hugely influential Menna Richards. Beyond tonight’s film and television awards, and those for Games & Interactive Experience we presented in June, BAFTA Cymru hosts a dynamic and varied programme of events here in Wales. Our activity has expanded across the country, and runs all year round as a result of our commitment to developing new and emerging talent and the growing appetite among BAFTA members, the leading network of film, television and games professionals, for events and initiatives that benefit their careers. At the time of writing we have produced 40 events since January, and launched new initiatives including Career Clever, supporting our career starter members with regular opportunities to network and attend events across the country.
Thank you to the BAFTA staff here in Wales, Hannah Raybould and her dedicated team of Rebecca Hardy, Llio Wyn, Emma Price, Holly Jones and Maxine Dedominicis, who have all worked with such commitment on behalf of the Academy throughout the year; to the Committee, led ably by Ian Jones in his second term; to our new host, Huw Stephens and to BBC Cymru Wales, S4C, Welsh Government and ITV Wales for their continued support of our mission. Finally, congratulations to all the nominees, whose fine work is testimony to the ongoing excellence in the moving image industries of Wales. Have a lovely evening. Anne Morrison Chair of the Academy

Noddwr Allweddol y Digwyddiad / Key Event Sponsor: Gorilla Mae Seremoni Wobrwyo BAFTA Cymru heno yn ddathliad o flwyddyn arall hynod o lwyddiannus i ddiwydiant ffilm a theledu Cymru.
This evening’s BAFTA Cymru Awards Ceremony is a celebration of another hugely successful year for Wales’ film and television industry.
Yma yng Nghymru mae gennym gronfa enfawr ac amrywiol o dalent greadigol. Mae ein diolch yn fawr i’r bobl greadigol hyn sy’n gweithio ar bob lefel a disgyblaeth o fewn y diwydiant - oherwydd eu hymdrechion hwy, gallwn fwynhau’r cynyrchiadau gwych sy’n cael eu harddangos heno.
Here in Wales we are blessed with a vast and varied pool of creative talent. It is thanks to those creatives, working at every level and discipline of the industry, that we can enjoy the wonderful productions being showcased tonight.
Yn anffodus, rydym yn gweld mwy a mwy o’n talent gynhenid yn symud allan o Gymru, wedi eu temtio gan gyfleoedd a gynigir gan Lundain a chanolfannau eraill. Mae’r uchelgais yn ddealladwy ond er mwyn sicrhau llwyddiant parhaus y diwydiannau creadigol yng Nghymru, mae’n bwysig ein bod yn dal gafael ar y dalent hon drwy greu cyfleoedd ar bob lefel. Yr allwedd yw meithrin talent a datblygiad parhaus. Dim ond trwy gynnig cyfleoedd hyfforddi a chynlluniau mentora gwell i rai ifanc, creadigol y gallwn obeithio eu gweld yn cyrraedd eu llawn botensial yma. Mae hyn yn gofyn am gefnogaeth barhaus gan gwmnïau sy’n gweithredu yn y sector, ein darlledwyr cenedlaethol, cyrff hyfforddi yn ogystal â chyllid canolog tymor hir. Yn ogystal â chyflenwad cryf o gynyrchiadau cynhenid, rydym yn gweld nifer cynyddol o gwmnïau allanol yn seilio’u cynyrchiadau yma yng Nghymru ac mae hynny’n creu mwy o gyfleoedd creadigol yma nag erioed o’r blaen. Ein gwaith ni yw sicrhau ein bod yn manteisio’n llawn ar y cyfleoedd hynny drwy hyfforddi a darparu’r dalent i lenwi’r rolau hyn. Mae Gorilla yn falch iawn o gefnogi Noson Wobrwyo BAFTA Cymru unwaith yn rhagor fel Noddwr Allweddol y Digwyddiad ac yn gobeithio y bydd pawb enillwyr, cefnogwyr ac aelodau ledled y diwydiant - yn mwynhau’r noson. Richard Moss Rheolwr Gyfarwyddwr, Gorilla
However, we are increasingly seeing our home-grown talent being drawn out of Wales, tempted by the opportunities offered by London and elsewhere. This ambition is understandable but in order to secure the continued success of the Welsh creative industries it’s important that we hold on to this talent by creating opportunities at every level. The key is nurturing talent and ongoing development. Only by providing our young creatives with improved training opportunities and mentoring schemes can we hope to see them reach their full potential here. This requires the ongoing support of companies operating in the sector, our national broadcasters, training bodies as well as long term central funding. In addition to a strong supply of home-grown productions we are seeing a growing number of non-indigenous companies basing productions here in Wales offering more creative opportunities than ever before. It is our job to ensure we take full advantage of those opportunities by training and providing the talent to fill these roles. Gorilla is very proud to once again to support the British Academy Cymru Awards as Key Event Sponsor and hope the evening will be enjoyed by winners, supporters and members throughout the industry.
Richard Moss Managing Director, Gorilla

We’re giving Wales back its Great Western Railway.
Reinstating our original name is not a mere ‘rebadging’ exercise. It is a statement of intent. It’s a promise to build a 21st-century railway that would make Brunel himself proud. And it’s an acknowledgement that the railway and its people are far more important than any franchise.
