Welcome to St David's Hall and the British Academy Awards night in Wales, an evening to celebrate the tremendous work of film, games, television individuals and talented companies here in Wales.
Efallai mai noson y Gwobrau yw’r uchafbwynt, ond mae’r tîm yn BAFTA Cymru, a arweinir gan Hannah Raybould, wedi trefnu degau o nosweithiau difyr drwy gydol y flwyddyn. Diolch i Hannah a’i thîm am eu holl waith caled yn ystod blwyddyn arall gyffrous.
The Awards night may be the highlight, but the BAFTA Cymru team, led by Hannah Raybould, has organised many entertaining evenings throughout the year. Thanks to Hannah and her team for all their work during another incredible year.
Ymhlith uchafbwyntiau eleni cynhaliwyd noson wych i ddathlu cyfres newydd o Sherlock ac roedd y tocynnau i noson Gareth Edwards cyfarwyddwr Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ar ddydd G yl Dewi yn Llundain fel aur! Braf hefyd oedd croesawu Bill Nighy i’r carped coch i dddangosiad Their Finest. Diolch i’r noddwyr oll am eu cymorth amhrisiadwy. Diolch hefyd i BBC Cymru Wales, S4C, Channel 4, Llywodraeth Cymru ac ITV Cymru Wales am eu cefnogaeth gyson. Hoffwn ddiolch i Jane Lush, Cadeirydd BAFTA UK, Amanda Berry, Prif Weithredwr yr Academi, a Kevin Price, y Prif Swyddog Gweithredu, am eu cefnogaeth arbennig hwythau. Yn olaf, diolch hefyd i’n cyflwynydd, Huw Stephens, ac, fel bob amser, mae ein rhestr enwebeion yn cynrychioli’r gorau oll yng Nghymru. Yn bersonol, ac ar ran BAFTA Cymru, hoffwn eu llongyfarch i gyd yn wresog a dymuno pob llwyddiant iddynt.
Angharad Mair Cadeirydd BAFTA Cymru
Highlights of this year have included a great evening to celebrate the new series of Sherlock and the tickets to the evening of Gareth Edwards, director of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story on St David's Day in London were like gold! It was also lovely to welcome Bill Nighy to the Cardiff red carpet for the premiere of Their Finest. Thank you to all our sponsors for their invaluable help. A huge thanks also to BBC Cymru Wales, S4C, Channel 4, Welsh Government and ITV Wales for their core funder support. I would like to thank Jane Lush, Chair of BAFTA, Amanda Berry, Chief Executive, and Kevin Price, Chief Operating Officer, for their special support. Finally, thanks also to our presenter, Huw Stephens, and, as always, to our list of nominees who represent the best of production in Wales for the year to March 31. Personally, and on behalf of BAFTA Cymru, I would like to congratulate them all and wish them every success.

NODDWR ALLWEDDOL Y DIGWYDDIAD: GORILLA
KEY EVENT SPONSOR: GORILLA
Mae seremoni Gwobrau’r Academi Brydeinig yng Nghymru yn rhoi cyfle i ddathlu a dangos popeth sy’n wych am ddiwydiant ffilm a theledu Cymru.
The British Academy Cymru Awards ceremony provides an opportunity to celebrate and showcase all that is great about Wales’ film and television industry.
Rydym ni ar drothwy rhai newidiadau mawr yma, yn sgil dyfodiad cwmnïau a stiwdios cynhyrchu newydd mawr, adleoli ein darlledwyr a’r cynnydd mewn arian ar gyfer cynyrchiadau a ‘Wnaed yng Nghymru’.
We are on the cusp of some big changes here, with the arrival of major new production companies and studios, the relocation of our broadcasters and the increase in funding in ‘Made in Wales’ productions.
Gallai’r newidiadau hyn weddnewid sector diwydiannau creadigol Cymru er gwell. Fodd bynnag, rydym ni i gyd yn gyfrifol am sicrhau bod yr amodau’n iawn – i ddarparu’r sgiliau a’r gwasanaethau sy’n angenrheidiol er mwyn cadw gwaith yng Nghymru, i ddatblygu sylfaen sgiliau gynaliadwy ac i sicrhau gwaddol parhaus cadarnhaol.
These changes have the potential to transform the Welsh creative industries sector for the good. However, we have a shared responsibility to ensure the conditions are right – to provide the skills and services needed to retain work in Wales, to grow a sustainable skills base and to secure a positive lasting legacy.
Mae angen mwy o fuddsoddi yn gyffredinol. Mae angen i ni fuddsoddi mewn doniau trwy ddarparu cyfleoedd hyfforddi a datblygu o’r radd flaenaf er mwyn cynnig y dewis creadigol sydd ei angen ar gynhyrchwyr. Mae angen i ni fuddsoddi mewn cyfleusterau, a sicrhau gwaith parhaus er mwyn darparu swyddi cynaliadwy ar draws y sector. Mae angen i ni hefyd sicrhau ein bod yn buddsoddi mewn hyrwyddo Cymru i ddiwydiannau yn y Deyrnas Unedig ac yn fyd-eang. Mae gennym ni gymaint i’w gynnig yma, ac mae angen i ni ddechrau gweiddi amdano. Nawr yw’r amser i wneud hynny. Gall safon y gwaith sydd i’w weld yma heno ond godi ein proffil yn y diwydiant ac amlygu buddion gweithio yng Nghymru. Mae Gorilla’n falch iawn o noddi Gwobrau’r Academi Brydeinig yng Nghymru unwaith eto. Dymunwn bob lwc i’r holl enwebeion a gobeithiwn y bydd pawb sy’n bresennol yn cael amser gwych.
Rich Moss Rheolwr Gyfarwyddwr, Gorilla
Increased investment is required across the board. We need to invest in talent by providing top quality training and development opportunities in order to offer producers the creative choice they require. We need to invest in facilities, and secure ongoing work to provide sustainable jobs across the sector. We also need to ensure that we invest in promoting Wales to the UK and global industries. We have so much to offer here, we need to start shouting about it. Now is the time to do so. The calibre of work on show here this evening can only serve to raise our industry profile and highlight the benefits of working in Wales. Gorilla is very proud to once again sponsor the British Academy Cymru Awards. We wish all the nominees the very best of luck and hope everyone attending has a wonderful time.

YR ENWEBIADAU / THE NOMINATIONS
Os derbyniwyd llai na chwech o geisiadau mewn category penodol, yna ni ystyriwyd y ceisiadau /categorïau hynny ar gyfer gwobrau 2016 ac fe’u cariwyd nhw drosodd i‘w hystyried yng ngwobrau eleni. Gallai hyn arwain at enwebiadau lluosog ar gyfer unigolion am yr un rhaglen ond o fewn cyfres gwahanol.
If there were fewer than six entries in a particular category then those entries /categories were not considered for the 2016 awards and were carried over for consideration in 2017 awards. This may result in multiple nominations for individuals for the same programme but within a different series.
