Paying Tribute
“Minsan mang sinubok naging bulalakaw at nahuhulog sa lupa, binaon ng kasaysayan, hinasa, hinanda at mas lalo pang pinatilaw na maging bulawan dahil ang MSU gensan ang dahilan, tanglaw, bulawan na siyang patuloy na magsasabog at nagsasabog ng liwanag,” the campus secretary, Norman Ralph Isla’s, excerpt of his poem tribute.

New CDP competition seeks to implement social awareness among students
A new literary event made its debut this October 5, replacing the traditional writing events with a competition that aims to implement a mandate of the university.
Incorporating the elements of the usual essay writing and pagsulat ng sanaysay contests, the Collaborative Desktop Publishing (CDP) is a competition that aims to showcase each college’s prowess in writing while implementing MSU’s mandate for students to be aware of issues in society, as emphasized by Prof. Love Batoon, head of the CDP Committee.
“Doon sa mga press kit nila or news content
nila, nandoon talaga ang mandate ng MSU na maging aware sila sa social issues,” she remarked.
Batoon states that the CDP is also a venue for college publications to be recognized wherein they should form a team of seven which includes a news writer, feature writer, editorial writer, photojournalist, and layout artist.
Each team must submit a news magazine complete with a news page, editorial page, feature page, and sports page. With some of its specific sections based on ongoing sports events and the opening ceremony of the Intramurals.
According to Batoon, the guidelines and
score sheet were adapted from the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) and modified according to MSU’s setting.
Moreover, Monlouie Sorzano, head of the literary committee, said the announcement of winners will take place on literary night.
The final outputs will be posted on Basic Institute for Dramatic Arts (BIDA) - General Santos’ Facebook page, he said.
The eight competing teams include seven undergraduate colleges and it will also be joined by Senior High School and College of Medicine.

Delegencia-led COF erupts opening double-digit lead, sinks CNSM for 2-0 Sepak Takraw Tourney start
Kimbian Lim
Breaking through the Sepak Takraw win column early, the College of Fisheries (COF) Anglers vented its ire out and coasted a clean 2-0 campaign against the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (CNSM) Wizards.
Anglers Tekong Angelo Delegencia flirted with service aces in the second set, stuffing the stat sheet with 8-points during their 2114 surge, to recover from the
early sluggish gameplay that even saw the Wizards leading by 4 on the Sepak Takraw Court, October 5.
It was practically an earlymorning no-contest in favor of COF, as it rolled to a 21-11 pullaway in the first set with Delegencia’s roll spikes that led to Wizard’s committing avoidable errors.
Joseph Malazarte of COF helped pace their second set mid-game domination with multiple assists.
Wizard’s poor communication and brittle defense made their points rely main only COF’s error, falling apart the rest of the way to absorb their first loss of the tournament as they sank to a 2-0 slate.
COF is now set to face the Game 5 winner, College of Education, tomorrow, October 6, after their narrow 2-1 escape against the College of Agriculture.
Vanguards escape relegation, slit 28-point dump against Wizards in women’s basketball
Berjan Pagadatan
Coming from an upsetting twopoint defeat against the College of Engineering (COE) Asteegs, the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) Vanguards carved a startling 28-point gap, 45-17, slashing the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics’ (CNSM) Wizards chance for triumph at the University Gymnasium on October 5.
Karen Daselao spearheaded the Vanguards’ redemption to remain in the tilt, drilling 16 points, while teammates Ailyn Alon and Janice Antoinette Pinque, who play the second and fifth positions, both dished four points in their loser’s bracket match against the Wizards.
Bursting up the initial quarter with a fivepoint shortfall, 9-4, the Lady Vanguards took the momentum to their sides as they further sent the Lady Wizards into
shambles, putting their second half contribution in clamps with two, 19-6, mooring from Daselao’s invincible closebucket jumpers and Pinque’s assertive inside presence.
The CSSH appeared to be too much for the CNSM as the Vanguards further extended their double-digit lead, despite the Wizards showing up third quarter dominance, dashing eight points in defiance of the Vanguards netting 11 points, 32-14.
Anchored by Daselao’s prowess, the Vanguard’s bet punched six out of their 8-0 run, amidst the Wizards’ Tonette Benon and Sam Ledesma conquering the inside, ending up with the CSSH with a doubledigit lead, 45-17.
