BMI announces annual leadership scholarship in honor of Colonel John F. Carrigan a WWII veteran and B24 heavy bomber pilot. Colonel Carrigan who was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for WWII missions was a founding board member of Bailey Military Institute. The scholarship will be awarded based on the recommendations of a Board and will cover tuition for one year for the selected student. The winning of the scholarship will be announced on 30 June 2010.

Admiral Lori Carrigan conducted the swearing in ceremony of Wilbert Smith Jr. and Roberto DeLeon as Admirals in the Texas Navy. The First Texas Navy was established in 1835, and the Second Texas Navy was established in 1837. In 1958, Texas Governor Price Daniel re-activated the Texas Navy with the purpose of "assuring the survival of Texas' Naval history, boundaries, water resources, and for the civil defense of Texas." In 1973, the Texas Legislature authorized the charter of the Texas Navy Association, Inc., as the official body to oversee the operation of the Texas Navy. April – June 2008 Second Cadet Battalion Leadership Positions Announced The staff and faculty at BMI recently decided to form the Saint Francis cadets into a separate battalion because of the difficulty posed when trying to host joint events between the two campuses.

Mission Statement To foster a dynamic educational environment that encourages success and spiritual growth through innovative initiatives and leadership concepts within a diverse society.

Cadet Activities

Bailey Military Institute • Cadet La Porche Abram will be heading to University of Texas at San Antonio to pursue a degree in Education. • Cadet Joseph Long will be entering the US Marine Corps after high school graduation. That’s a big Simper Fi! • At the recommendation of BMI, Cadet Matthew Manzano was selected to participate in a three-day mini camp to introduce students (grades 9-12) to campus life at the Navy Academy.
