Instructors Corner: Captain DeLeon: The BMI family recently lost one of its founding board members, Colonel John F. Carrigan. Colonel Carrigan a WWII Aviator and recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross for Combat Missions in the B24 Heavy Bomber. Colonel Carrigan received full Military Honors. BMI was represented by Major General Bailey, LTC Williams, and Ms. Jezl of the Board of Trustees. Colonel Carrigan has been added to the BMI Memorial Scholarship Fund for the 2008-2009 school

year. Mr. Randle: BMI is currently planning for the First Annual Dining Out that will include Cadets from St. Francis of Assisi School, and the Annual Leadership Camp. Cadets are encouraged to plan to attend both. The Dining Out will include a receiving line, a guest speaker, and other military traditions. Leadership Camp will enable each Cadet to hold a leadership position and participate in such activities as climbing the Rock Wall, Road Marches, and Tug of War.

Cadet Activities On 1 March 2008 Cadets Long, Ellis, Manzano, and Young witnessed the Challenger Seven Competition held in Webster, Texas and observed the activities of the Color Guard, Drill Teams, and PT Teams. The Academics Team could not be observed. The Color Guards competition consisted of three phases. The Drill Teams competition consisted of three phases. Inspection, Regulation Drill, and Exhibition Drill and the Physical Fitness Team competition also consisted of three phases. Push-ups, sit-ups, and the one-mile run. Cadets has to present a statement of physical condition in order to participate.
