Reveal

23-24 Reveal 23-24

THIS YEAR, WE’RE GOING TO CHANGE IT UP. INSTEAD OF EVERY VET GETTING A ROOKIE, WE WILL BE INTRODUCING FAMILIES. AS WE KNOW, THE TEAM STARTED OUT WITH 11 DANCERS, AND FROM THERE, OUR TEAM HAS GROWN. SOME BRANCHES HAVE DIED, BUT WE ARE GROWING THE ONES THAT WE CAN WITH MORE OF Y’ALL. SO THE WAY THAT IT WORKS IS THAT IF YOU HAD A LITTLE LAST YEAR, THEY ARE NOW A GRAND BIG. LAST YEAR, ROOKIES WILL NOW BE GETTING A LITTLE AS THEIR ROOKIE AND WILL BE CONSIDERED BIG. THIS WILL LOOK LIKE A LINE WITH GREATGRAND BIG, GRAND BIG, BIG, AND LITTLE. AN EXAMPLE WOULD BE:

JULIA—>LAUREN—>KENDALL—>BAILEY—>ABIGAIL—>ROOKIE

THE BIG WILL BE GETTING THE LITTLE, BUT EVERYONE WHO CAME BEFORE HER WILL BE SUPPORTING THAT LITTLE AS WELL.

WHEN IT COMES TO GIFTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, IT’S WITHIN YOUR “FAMILY” THAT YOU WILL DECIDE HOW THIS HAPPENS, BUT THE MOST EFFICIENT WAY IS TO GO IN A CIRCLE WITH WHO YOUR LITTLE ONE IS.

FOR THE REVEAL, THIS WILL BE AUGUST 7 IN 11 DAYS, WHICH IS ALSO TEAM PICTURE DAY, SO Y’ALL WILL BE LOOKING CUTE AND DRESSED UP IN ANY WAY.

WE WILL BE GOING THROUGH A GIGANTIC SIGN DROP. THESE WILL NOT BE INDIVIDUAL SIGNS MADE BY Y'ALL, BUT THE SOCIAL WILL BE MAKING A BIG SIGN MADE OUT BUTCHER PAPER THAT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH BIG AND LITTLE OR FAMILIES. VETS WILL STAND BEHIND THE SIGN, AND ROOKIES WILL BE IN FRONT OF IT.

EACH FAMILY WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DESIGNING AND DECORATING A SHIRT THAT Y’ALL WILL BE WEARING AS WELL AS GIVING IT TO YOUR LITTLE ONE. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ASK Y’ALL TO MAKE A LITTLE GIFT BASKET FOR THE SHIRT TO GO INTO AS WELL AS SOME OTHER GOODIES.

23-24 Reveal 23-24 Reveal

HEY GUYS, I HOPE YALL ARE EXCITED FOR THE BIG AND LITTLE REVEAL. I MADE A VIDEO EXPLAINING HOW THIS WILL BE GOING DOWN, SO WATCH IT AND ASK ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE. IF YOU REMEMBER FROM CAMP, OUR SECOND DAY OF LEADERSHIP, THE MAIN IDEA WAS TRADITION, AND THIS IS ONE OF OUR FAVORITE TRADITIONS. WE WILL BE TALKING MORE ABOUT THE LEGACY AND WHAT WE WANT TO LEAVE BEHIND AND CONTINUE TO GROW ON AUGUST 7TH!

I ALSO MADE A YOUTUBE VIDEO TO HELP EXPLAIN TO THE TEAM HOW THE REVEAL WOULD GO. I RECOMMEND GOING BACK INTO THE GROUP AND WATCHING IT TO SEE WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE OR KEEP FOR THE 25' TEAM.

ONCE I MADE THEIR FAMILIES I TEXTED THEM:

HOLA!!! YOU FAMILY LINE IS: HANNA(GRAND BIG)➡ ARIANA GUILLORY(BIG)➡ JOLEY CROW(LITTLE) JOLEY HAS A VERY BIG PERSONALITY FOR BEING A FRESHMEN ROOKIES SO I NEED YALL TO CALM HER DOWN AND MAKE SURE SHE IS LOVES AND LEARNS THE WAY OF A STORM DANCER.

IT HAS THEIR LINE AND A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE ROOKIE IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING FROM TEAM PRACTICES OR FROM THE OFFICERS IF THEY HAVE HAD ROOKIE PRACTICE.

22-23 Reveal 22-23 Reveal

THIS YEAR WAS NOT FOCUSED ON GROWING THE FAMILY TREE BUT THAT EACH PERSON OR PAIR HAD THEIR OWN LITTLE.

22-23 Reveal 22-23 Reveal

ON AUGUST 18TH DURING OUR PRACTICE WE’RE REVEALING BIG/LIL FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR.

FOR THE REVEAL THIS YEAR, YOU WILL PURCHASE AND DECORATE A BOX THAT IS BIG ENOUGH FOR YOU TO HIDE IN UNTIL YOUR LITTLE FINDS YOU. IT IS ALSO STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO HAVE BIG/LIL SHIRTS AND/OR SMALL GIFTS THAT CORRESPOND WITH THE THEME THAT YOU CHOOSE. GIFT BAGS FOR THE REVEAL ITEMS (SHIRTS AND OTHER SMALL OPTIONAL GIFTS) WILL BE PROVIDED.

PARTNERS ONLY: PLEASE DISCUSS THE THEME AND DETAILS REGARDING YOUR PLAN FOR THE REVEAL WITH YOUR PARTNER. IF YOU CAN’T FIND A BOX BIG ENOUGH TO FIT THE BOTH OF YOU, YOU CAN ATTACH TWO BOXES AND DECORATE IT AS ONE.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING THE REVEAL PLEASE ASK LAUREN OR AALIYAH.

REQUIRED ITEMS FOR THE REVEAL

- DECORATED BOX BIG ENOUGH FOR YOU TO FIT IN WITH YOUR LITTLES NAME ON THE BOX

- SHIRT OR SMALL GIFTS THAT CORRESPOND TO YOUR THEME TO PUT IN THE PROVIDED GIFT BAG THAT YOU, YOUR PARTNER, AND YOUR LITTLE WILL HAVE.

WITH ANY BIG/LITTLE REVEAL THE VETS NEED TO GET TO PRACTICE 45 MINUTES EARLY TO SET UP. THE ROOKIES NEED TO BE SEPERATE FROM THE VETS. PLACING THEM EITHER IN THE GYM, PRACTICE GYM OR THE DANCE ROOM.

ONCE THE REVEAL HAS OCCURED HAVE FUN TEAM BONDING ACTIVITIES FOR YALL TO USE TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER. WETHER THAT IS COMPETAING AGAINSNT OTHER FAMILIES OR TALKING WITHIN THE GROUP TO GET TO KNOW EAHC OTHER BETTER, THIS TIME IN REALLY IMPORTANT FOR THE LONG ROAD AHEAD.

POOL PARTY Summer Summer

THIS YEAR, WE HAD OUR SUMMER BONDING PARTY THE DAY BEFORE OUR TEAM PRACTICE BEFORE CAMP. THIS MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR MORE PEOPLE TO COME SINCE THEY HAVE TO BE THERE FOR CAMP AND PRACTICE.

AT THIS YEAR'S PARTY, WE SWAM AND DECORATED MINI FLOWER POTS. WE ALSO DID TRIVIA WITH KAHOOT, BUT IT KIND OF GAVE US A HARD TIME WITH HOW MANY PEOPLE YOU COULD ADD TO THE GAME, SO MAKE SURE YOU CHECK HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN JOIN BEFORE YOU PUT A LOT OF EFFORT INTO SOMETHING. LAST YEAR, WE SWAM, BROKE UP INTO GROUPS, MADE BOATS OUT OF CARDBOARD BOXES, AND RACED THEM.

WE ASKED THEM TO BRING A TOWEL AND A MODEST SWIMSUIT (IT COULD BE A TWO-PIECE). THERE WAS A SIGN-UP MESSAGE THAT WAS SENT IN THE MOMS GROUP CHAT ABOUT FOOD, DRINKS, AND SUPPLIES. THE PARTY WAS FROM 3-5, AND IT WAS A DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP EVENT SO THAT MOMS WEREN’T JUST LINGERING AROUND.

Lunch Lunch ROOKIE

THIS HAS KIND OF BECOME A TRADITION ON STORM, OR AT LEAST I WOULD TRY TO MAKE IT ONE. BRINGING THE NEW CLASS OF ROOKIES TO A FAST FOOD RESTAURANT LIKE FREDDIES AND HANGING OUT WITH THE STORM GIRLS AND HAVING SOME GOOD FOOD. LAST YEAR, I PUT ALL OF THE ROOKIES IN A GROUP CHAT WITH THE SOCIALS AND THE COACHES SO I COULD SEND OUT THE DETAILS OF THE LUNCH AS WELL AS MAKE IT AN EVENT ON THE GROUP CALENDAR. THE NEXT 4 PAGES ARE WHAT I PRINTED OUT TO GIVE THEM TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS. THIS IS WHAT I TEXTED THEM LAST YEAR:

HEY ROOKIES!! JOIN THE SOCIALS FOR A LITTLE GETTOGETHER AT FREDDIE’S TO EAT SNACKS AND TALK ABOUT ALL THINGS STORM-RELATED. COME WITH ALL YOUR QUESTIONS, AND WE WOULD LOVE TO ANSWER THEM! THIS IS NOT MANDATORY, BUT IT’S A GOOD IDEA TO KNOW YOUR FELLOW GIRLS WHO ARE IN THE SAME BOAT AS YOU YOUR FIRST YEAR IN STORM!

LAST YEAR IT WAS ON: MONDAY JULY 17TH, 2023

Cfhs Storm Dance Team

Yall all are rookies trying to learn the way of the dance team and being on this team while also being a high school student Your job as a rookie is to learn and grow, which means you are a sponge trying to grasp everything you can What you put into this team is what you will get from it I encourage all of you to make the most of the dance team whether you are a freshman to our senior rookies This is the most challenging year, but I know that each and every one of you will be able to make it through this team and will have plenty of fun memories and stories to tell but before we can let the fun begin, we have to learn some of the rules of what it means to be a dancer at Fulshear High School

August-November

Tryout for every routine

Right after school, we head to the locker room and dance room to get makeup and hair ready for the game Bag checks within our squads

We take two busses to the stadium

Perform at every varsity football game

Every routine is performed twicehome and away

We sit in the stands and cheer and perform many stand routines with the band

Walk out on cadence to yard lines and that is the first "performance" of the night

Spirit line, clap for cheerleaders, fight song, national anthem

Halftime performance-head down to stretch and warm up before halftime

Visit with family under the stands after team performance

Continue to cheer and clap until the game is over Games can last up to 25 hours

Have fun but be polite (we are not the coaches of the game)

No talking during the games or sidelines

No hanging out with family or friends during the game unless it is after our performance

No eating in the stands

Overall Football season may become your favorite part of the dance team with the high-energy crowd and the love of football you may gain If you know nothing about football, you will certainly learn though the many hours of cheering and watching Fulshear play

DANCE OFFICERS & SOCIALS

Co-Captains:

Lieutenants:

Kateline Barr, Mia Buena, Breanna Butler, & Andrea Sanchez

President: Bailey Parker

Vice President: Ella Martin

Secretary: Addyson Boerger

Historian: Millie Steen & Natalie Kipping

Chaplain: Kimberly Matthews

All the officers are here to support the team and hype yall up The dancer officers may seem a little scary and harsh but they all want to see more in us and to push us

BUS RIDES

Whenever and wherever we go as a team we always take a bus to get around h-town There are no assigned seats to busses except the front for coaches, chaperones, managers, and any other supplies we might need depending on the performance Seniors have a thing called senior privilege which is a little silly but once you're a senior, you'll understand why it's a big deal because they'll want to sit at the back of the bus On the bus we might have announcements or team bonding activities Make sure to bring your air pods and homework on the bus

CONTEST SEASON

Every Saturday in February

Full day event

4 team routines

Try out for all routines

We travel across the Houston area and compete against teams in our division Solo and ensembles are welcome

Wake up early

Come ready with makeup and hair done

The coaches will send out a detailed list of the day's times and events of when we will be eating, stretching, performing, or even free time to bond with the team

We will be able to buy merch and extra food if there is time within our schedule, so make sure to bring extra $$$ Awards will happen late at night Awards may be very complex depending on the size and level of dance we compete in

There may not necessarily be first, second, or third placing, but instead, adjudication awards like gold, high gold, platinum, high platinum, and diamond

Family and friends are encouraged to come and watch

Eat lunch and dinner at the hosting school

We may be in one or two dressing rooms, and that is considered our home base where we change and get ready for the next dances

We might be able to watch other teams perform but it may not always fit into the schedule

Watch all of CFHS solos, duets, trios, and ensambles

We start learning our dances at the end of football season, even before we leave for Christmas break There is way too much to discuss about contest season, and you kinda gotta experience your first one to understand what it's all about This may become your favorite part of the dance team with the amount of precision placed on each dance along with the intricate technique that will show We will always perform: POM - Using pompoms we hit sharp movements to typically faster, upbeat music

Jazz- Sassy or dark, the facials and extra flair added to this style of dance Lyrical/Contemporary- Super flowy and emotional (We may either perform hip-hop or novelty depending on what the dance officers and coaches decide)

Costumes

We have a few costumes during football season that we will get sized for before our first performance We have a skirt, tank top, long sleeves, and a dress along with other clothing for football that may make it out of the closet Coach Sury will tell us what we are wearing to our game in our what-to-wear packet each week

The coaches will also tell us when to take home our uniforms to wash and you do need to buy a special type of detergent called Woolite detergent

We also wear a different costume for each contest routine but those are determined by officers and coaches

Officer Dynamics Officer Dynamics

I KNOW ITS HARD TO FEEL INCLUDED SOMETIMES WHEN DANCE OFFICERS DONT REALLY HAVE SPECIFIC TITLE JOBS LIKE SOCIALS DO. BASICALLY IVE SEEN THAT SOME ISSUES GET STARTED WHEN WE DONT FEEL LIKE WE GET ENOUGH TEACHING TIME ETC.

SOOOOO, THIS IS AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY WE DO NOT HAVE SPECIFIC JOBS :)

DANCE OFFICERS ARE A GROUP A LEADERS WHO HAVE TO WORK TOGETHER CONSTANTLY TO TEACH, CHOREOGRAPH, PROBLEM SOLVE, ETC. MOST OF EVERYTHING WE DO HAS TO BE APPROVED BY EACH ONE OF US THROUGH THE CHAIN OF COMMAND ITS BETTER TO BE UNITED AND KNOW THAT EVERYONE IS ON THE SAME PAGE THAN SEPERATE AND DIVIDED.

EXPECTATIONS :

PLEASE COMMUNICATE ANY PROBLEM YOU HAVE WITH THE PERSON YOU HAVE IT WITH, PUSH EACH DANCER TO THEIR FULL POTENTIAL, LEAD WITH RESPECT, AND ALWAYS UPHOLD S.T.O.R.M COVENANT.

During the 24-25 year, I sat down with the officers and made a list of all the expectations and goals we want for the new year to keep the team growing technically and emotionally.

EACH OFFICER HAD GOODIE BAGS THAT WOULD INCLUDE A RELATED SQUAD THEME ITEM, CANDY, AND A THEMED ITEM. THE SOCIAL OFFICERS WILL THEN RANDOMLY PLACE ALL OF THE GOODY BAGS IN THE HALLWAY, AND THE DANCERS WILL HAVE TO FIND THEIR BAG AND GET INTO THEIR SQUADS. THEY WILL THEN TAKE EVERYONE TO THE DANCE ROOM AND HAVE THEM SIT WITH THEIR SQUAD. EACH OFFICER WILL HAVE A WALK-UP SONG AND WILL DO A LITTLE STRUT DOWN THE RUNWAY. THEN WE’LL PLAY GAMES THAT INVOLVE DIFFERENT CHALLENGES BETWEEN SQUADS. LIKE THE CHANT GAME AND THE HUMAN NOT.
