Location REYKJAVIK, ICELAND
THE CITY
The city of Reykjavík is known as a vibrant, quirky place, that melds a small town vibe with big city living. Almost every visitor to Iceland will pass through, and the vast majority will stay at least one night. People come to see its cultural sites, to enjoy its festivals, to appreciate the cuisine and nightlife, and to use it as a base to see the rest of the country. Reykjavik is now a cultural centre that hosts two-thirds of Iceland’s population (37%)
THE LAND Iceland is largely an arctic desert punctuated by mountains, glaciers, geysers, hot springs, volcanoes and waterfalls. Most of the vegetation and agricultural areas are in the lowlands close to the coastline. Iceland’s most distinctive features are the glaciers that cover over 4,600 sq. mi
THE CLIMATE Reykjavik is located in the southwest, and the coastline is dotted with coves, islands, and peninsulas. It is a large, spread-out city, with suburbs stretching far out into the south and east. Reykjavik’s climate is considered to be sub-polar oceanic. In Reykjavík, the summers are short, cool, and mostly cloudy and the winters are long, very cold, wet, windy, and overcast.

Site SKÓLAVÖRÐASTÍGUR STREET
SITE DETERMINATION This hotel will be located on the corner of one of the busiest streets in Reykjavik, Skólavörðastígur street. Skólavörðastígur is one of the four big names in downtown shopping streets and is by far the classiest, the most creative, and probably the most self-conscious too. The hotels’ North face faces a very important tourist site, Hallgrimskirkja Church and is surrounded by many up and coming businesses, shops, and other hotels. This is a central location for visitors to get a feel of the city life before touring around Reykjavik’s beautiful landscape.
SITE VIEWS
Hallgrímskirkja church is Reykjavík’s main landmark and its tower can be seen from almost everywhere in the city.

Concept SKREPPA IN SERENITY
y t i n e r e S n i a p p e Skr
Skreppa (v.) “to run off for a little while.” Raw and untouched, visitors of Iceland tend to easily get lost in the citiys’ natural glamour. Miles of unspoiled land, volcanoes threatening to erupt, freezing glaciers, soothing springs, and mountains glistening in the distance, getting lost in Iceland’s raw bliss is inevitable. “Its the opposite of a tropical paradise, but just as jaw dropping, if not purer and more unblemished.” Appreciating Iceland atmosphere, yet blending Reykjaviks developing city life will completely embody the design of Skreppa hotel. Abstracting natures imperfections, curves, and “rawness” will provide any visitor with Iceland’s close touch with nature, while incorporating a serene atmosphere in hopes to fully indulge in the spaces around them. Skreppa will be a soft get-away, a raw paradise, and a serene experience from start to finish. Visitors will undoubtedly Skreppa in Serenity as they indulge in an everlasting environment.
