Artist Profile: Nicole Eliza
Nicole is a self taught abstract artist who paints intuitively, influenced and inspired by nature, emotion and lived experiences. She is moved by the essence of the places she visits, the colours of the landscape, the sound of the ocean, the charm of small towns and the allure of travelling to untouched environments.
Following Nicole’s formal studies in design where she gained a sound understanding of colour, balance and form, she worked as an interior designer for an award-winning architecture firm in Adelaide. A move to Melbourne in 2011 sparked a change in focus to art and in late 2022, Nicole returned to South Australia to settle in the Barossa Valley.
Nicole enjoys the hands-on, immediate approach to the painting process. Her work is layered, rich and overflowing with interesting details that give her canvases exceptional depth.
Commissioned by Baillie Lodges to create an artwork for Contour's entryway at The Louise, Nicole's work reflects her interest in how art resonates with different people and what energy it can bring to an interior space.
Nicole muses: ‘My paintings are influenced and inspired by emotion, memory, nature, landscape and architecture. My work is an extension of who I am and my sensitive nature’.
