Artist Profile: Lynka

Lynka is an emerging Australian-Polish figurative abstract artist based in regional South Australia. Lynka’s creative practice is largely focused on Her - mind, body and identity.

There is great emphasis on fragmentation in the structure of her compositions. A pre-occupation with line and intersecting planes is as distinct in the defining of form as it is in the representation of space. Her conceptual approach to the formation of her figures within moments of stillness, evokes an enigmatic calm that gently invites her viewer to reflect, and potentially find resonance with - 'Sometimes the silent moments are the most profound.'

Juxtapositions of fluid curves with static linear elements, awaken tensions that are further heightened by her evocative textures adding a complexity that is both visually arresting, and cognitively stimulating.

'I am intuitively drawn to the ambiguous and the obscure but more so find that working in abstraction facilitates the freedom for me to overcome my own introverted tendencies. I believe people identify with ambiguity as it provides an open space for their own interpretation and allows for a personal connection without the artwork overtly forcing itself on to the viewer.'

A self-taught artist with an apparel design background, Lynka has participated in a number of group exhibitions across Australia to date, and in 2021 she held her first solo exhibition, ‘Moments of Being and Everything In Between’.
