Your Guide to Success with Indoor Succulents Succulents thrive in dry indoor environments thanks to adaptations such as fleshy leaves, thick stems, and enlarged roots that allow them to store water. Cacti are a type of succulent that most people are familiar with. Succulents, on the other hand, include a variety of other plants grown primarily for their attractive foliage. Succulents have striking textures thanks to their strong, distinct leaf shapes, which turn them into living sculptures for interior spaces. Because they are adapted to withstand dry conditions, they make excellent indoor plants. Here are some ways of how you can take proper care of your tiny friends! Succulents require approximately six hours of direct sunlight per day, depending on the type of succulent. In direct sunlight, newly planted succulents can burn, so gradually expose them to full sun or provide shade with a sheer curtain. Succulents can be like sunflowers, they tend to lean toward the sun, rotating them will help them stand straight. Soak the soil in water until the drainage holes are dry before watering your succulents, (Use less water if your container doesn't have drainage holes). Watering succulents with a spray bottle can result in brittle roots and mouldy leaves. Succulents require draining soil, so regular potting soil will not suffice. Cactus soil or a potting soil mix with sand, pumice, or perlite are both good options. Succulent roots are delicate, so handle them with care when repotting. Spring and summer are the best times for succulents to grow. In the fall, growth slows, and the winter is a time of rest. During the winter, fertilise only lightly or not at all. Use a standard houseplant fertiliser, but keep in mind that these plants are easy to overfeed. To make a dish garden, combine several in the same container. Plant selection holds the key to success. Make sure you're combining plants that have similar growth rates and care requirements. Succulents should be planted in a container that drains well and in a low-nutrient potting mix designed for cacti and succulents. Put the pot somewhere where it will get plenty of sunlight. To ensure even growth, rotate the container on a regular basis.
