About BakerLou
BakerLou was founded by Louise Saville, a self-taught cake decorator with a passion for baking. She works from her tiny bakery in Rayleigh, Essex and loves to develop new ideas and recipes. Louise’s Favourite Things (in no particular order!)
* Chocolate – any kind, I’m not too fussy * Michael Buble – preferably covered in chocolate! *My family – I have been with Simon for 15 years (since I was 17!) and we have two children – Jamie is twelve and Jess has just turned nine. *Baking (obviously) *Growing veggies – can’t be bothered much with flowers as I can’t eat them…
Simply Scrumptious Range
This basic range is perfect for simple, tasty cupcakes. (Our cupcakes are a very generous muffin size!) They come in four flavours – vanilla, chocolate, coffee or lemon and can be customised to suit your colour scheme and personal taste.
The vanilla buttercream swirl can be piped in any colour you wish and we also have a tempting range of sprinkles to choose from.
Why not try some mini fudge chunks or mini pearl decorations?
Chocoholic Range Everyone loves chocolate (well if they don’t, then they should!) so what better gift to give the chocoholic in your life than some of our seriously chocolately cupcakes? As well as the gorgeous cakes below, you can also choose from our classic chocolate and chcolate chip cake covered in crunchy chocolate (yes, more chocolate!) crispie pieces.
Extra Special Cupcakes These cakes are part of our new range which we will be adding to – look out for cupcake bouquets coming soon! The ice cream cone cakes are perfect for children’s parties – the cake is baked in the cone and topped with a buttercream swirl. We then add piece of flake to get the true ‘99’ look. Cherry Bakewell and Sticky Toffee cupcakes are inspired by our favourite desserts and we think you’ll love them too!

Cherry Bakewell Moist almond cake filled with raspberry jam and topped with white icing and a cherry half – perfect with a cuppa!
Occasion Cupcakes If you have a special event coming up, why not order some stunning bespoke cupcakes. Choose from buttercream or fondant topped cupcakes (or a mixture of both) and tell us your colour scheme and ideas, it’s all down to you! It doesn’t have to be traditional either, if you want Star Wars logos on your cakes then that’s what you shall have… Rest assured that we won’t suddenly raise our prices just because your order is for a wedding, you may even get a discount for a larger order! You can even hire a stand from us to display your cakes beautifully.
Celebration Cakes Celebration cakes are the basis of BakerLou, I’ve lost count of how many ‘big’ cakes I’ve made over the years and I get all kinds of requests – from children’s TV characters to x-rated cakes! So, anything is possible – tell me your ideas and we’ll see what we can come up with! Here’s a few ideas to get you started…
Get creative!
Tea-Time Treats A few times now, I’ve been asked to provide plain un-iced cakes. Sometimes people love to decorate cakes but aren’t too confident with baking, or just love the taste of home-made cake (so much better than shop bought and no nasty chemicals either!) These are also perfect for impressing friends and family by pretending that you baked them yourself – quick, hide the box in the bin!
There’s plenty more to choose from too – we also bake brownies, shortbread, muffins and cookies.
