A lot of the time when we think of inflammation, we visualise sports injuries or a sore back, but very rarely do we associate inflammation with other conditions as such as cardiovascular disease (where it is sometimes referred to as the silent killer), irritable bowel, acne, allergies, obesity and diabetes to name just a few. Our diets are highly responsible for mediating inflammation, especially those diets with a high consumption of coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, fast-foods and confectionary. Sugar for example is pro-inflammatory. That is, it causes inflammation in the body. So, what can we do and how can we change? Whilst pharmaceutical anti-inflammatories serve an important purpose and can be immensely effective in alleviating pain and

inflammation, many, if not most, of these drugs can produce undesirable side-effects. Fortunately, there are other options. NORTHSIDER’S have been flocking to Racecourse Road to try out Grill’d, the healthy burger specialists, with more than 8000 burgers consumed since doors opened in the middle of March. Grill’d franchisee, Jason Payne, said locals had been quick to embrace the nutritional, low fat burgers.
