CONTINUING CARE RETIREMENT COMMUNITY EXPLAINED
For seniors with the financial means, a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) may be the ideal senior living option to “age in place.” CCRCs provide members with a complete range of lifestyle accommodations, from independent living to assisted living, memory care support, long-term skilled nursing care and short-term rehabilitation. Services offered can include health services, restaurants, spa services, fitness centers, personal care, housekeeping, transportation and emergency help. In addition, the communities are full of social and educational activities with residents that enjoy a similar lifestyle.
Because CCRCs are an “all-in-one”, there is a greater level of comfort for residents. Children can enjoy a greater peace of mind knowing that all their parents’ needs from housekeeping to medical care are taken care of. All life care communities are continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs), but not all life care communities offer the same health care benefits. Confusing? That’s why we put this explanation together for you. There are some important similarities and differences between these senior living community options that you should understand. CCRC and Life Care Retirement
Continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) and life care retirement communities provide residents with a lifestyle that includes on-campus conveniences, services and amenities, such as; restaurants, spa services, fitness centers and more. Most importantly, both types of senior living communities can provide members with a wide range of lifestyle accommodations, from independent living to assisted living, memory care support, longterm skilled nursing care and short-term rehabilitation. Though not every community features these levels of care on one campus, La Posada’s CCRC is all connected on one 22 acre campus.
DIFFERENCES
CCRC and Life Care Retirement
The real distinction between a CCRC retirement community and a life care retirement community comes down to the kind of contract the community offers. La Posada offers different types of continuing care retirement contracts to be more flexible in meeting your needs.
Extensive Contracts
Our contracts provide members with life-time access to independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing care with predictable costs if a higher level of care is needed. Residents have a choice to remain in their initial apartment or if they have long-term care insurance move directly over to our assisted living.
Fee-For-Service Contract
Our Fee-For-Service Contract provides a lower entrance fee and / or monthly service fee for independent living members. A discounted market daily rate is charged to members needing assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing care services.
Long term care insurance policies pair nicely with resident agreements because it covers a portion if not all of the additional costs that may arise as additional health care is needed. Each individual’s policy is different, so please be sure to review your policy.
LA POSADA CONTRACT TYPES
Depending on your needs La Posada has different options which offer priority access into our 5-star health center (check Medicare.gov for more information), as well as flexibility in where you receive health care should you relocate. Depending on your unique situation and investment preference, you choose your contract type and have the choice of entrance fee type.
The 90% Refund Plan Entrance Fee
Is just what it says... you retain 90% of your entrance fee for you or your estate.
The 50% Refund Plan Entrance Fee
50% of the Entrance Fee will be refunded to you or your estate when you move out of the community.
The 12 Month Lease Agreement
You will pay a one time non-refundable membership fee and it will automatically be renewed at the end of the 12 month period.
Whatever plan you choose all of the amenities are the same. Included are all Utilities which include electric, water, Comcast, Wi-Fi, scheduled transportation, bi-weekly house keeping with flat linen service, covered parking, 30 meals each per month.
