Interest and demand for broadband continues to grow in South Africa and the world. Mobile providers are focusing more on data packages as even non smart phones now has good access to the internet for social media and other internet based services such as Whatsapp. South Africa’s mass population are adapting to this new technology, so the volumes are certainly growing. For the past year, OTEL Telecoms had to re-think its strategy. Sure, the lucrative voice business is fabulous, but what do customers want, and where does voice fit in?

OTEL launches its MetroCore service in 2013. One which has already been receiving much acclaim for its reliability, speed and affordability. With that being the core focus of OTEL’s future service provisioning, it is only a matter of time before the Value Added services such as VoIP, and CCTV becomes a norm in ones life. Please enjoy this years brochure, we hope it brings you much business by presenting it to youe clientele as our last years’ brochure had.

Lets open our imagination and think of the telecom industry as a highway. We have all these vehicles passing through to perform a function, some heavy, some light, some fast, some old, and some slow. They all need a good path to travel on in order to achieve their goal promptly. The shorter the route, the broader the highway and the least potholes will allow the vehicle to reach quicker, navigate through less traffic, and have no bumps on the road. The Information Superhighway works the same way. There is always expansion on the highway, the bandwidth pipes are getting bigger, applications are needing faster connectivity, there are more services to use the pipe, and clients are constantly upgrading their software to the latest and the best. OTEL had to change its focus to being highway builders, then allow its services to flow on it. VoIP, IPTV, Internet, Security, CCTV, Power Management, WiFi enabled TVs and how many new services will soon require a fast broadband connection.

In fact, the entire telephone system is operated and maintained by yourself over OTEL’s First Tier Telephony Platform. A Hosted PBX lets employees work from their home, a hotel or on their cell phone while still being connected to the same office telephone system. Just like a Fortune 500 telephone system, you can transfer callers, put them on hold with music, set up conference calls or have the phone answered by an automated attendant who can direct callers to different departments.

SIP Trunks are linked to a customer’s current telephone system which is either an IP enabled PBX or by using a Media VoIP Gateway, typically, a more traditional PBX. Outgoing calls are then routed through the PBX and out via the SIP Trunk instead of using costly traditional phone lines.
