ANNUAL

MAKING A POSITIVE

Impact

Through interactions and conversations with our students, staff, parents, and Old Grammarians, I am confident that Ballarat and Queen’s Anglican Grammar School offers more than just an education. It offers something far more profound, immersive, authentic, and transformational throughout students’ school years and the rest of their lives. Our Annual Giving campaign provides us all with the opportunity to share in making a positive impact on the lives and education of others. Every gift is meaningful and contributes to the power behind the growth of this School as it goes from strength to strength. This brochure outlines the projects through which your generosity can benefit Ballarat Grammar in 2022. We hope that you enjoy reading about these projects and find one that you would like to support. You can also learn more about how The Ballarat Grammar Foundation is working to assist the School by visiting bgs.vic.edu.au/community/foundation The Annual Giving campaign seeks both to benefit the students of today and to provide for the future of Ballarat Grammar. Our goal is to continue to provide first-class facilities and many more scholarship opportunities to students into the future. I invite you to join us in supporting our Annual Giving campaign in 2022 and, in doing so, making this goal a reality. Remember, it is not about the amount you give – every gift makes a difference.

Please join us in supporting our Annual Giving campaign in 2022. Adam Heath Headmaster

The redevelopment of The Must Memorial Library. The reimagined space will cater for the continued growth of the Middle and Senior Schools whilst refurbishing the space to create a multi-dimensional, modern learning environment for students and staff.

SCHOLARSHIP

Fund

Scholarships are a very important part of the history and culture of Ballarat and Queen’s Anglican Grammar School. We understand that it often takes opportunity for hard work and talent to emerge. From the beginning of our history, there have been many examples of philanthropic support for students who may otherwise have been unable to attend the School, or assistance for those students whose families had fallen on difficult times. Through the provision of scholarships, Ballarat Grammar can encourage a diversity of students, which is one of the fundamental strengths of our educational offering.

“ C entral to our belief that education can transform students’ lives is our commitment to creating an inclusive culture strengthened by the diversity of our students’ backgrounds and experiences. Opportunity is one of the greatest gifts we can offer students because with opportunity comes learning that can change a life. As teachers, we see evidence of opportunity’s power when we see children achieve what they thought was impossible.” - Brianne Cuthbert, Head of Senior School

MEDIA CENTRE /

T V Studio

The Media Centre/TV Studio has been designed and will be purpose-built to provide more opportunities for our students in media and film production. As communications and media becomes less centralised with content created by many across the world, these skills are becoming increasingly important. The space will be situated adjacent to the Beckworth Centre for the Arts eastern entry, and will consist of a TV studio, an area for presenters, along with a green screen for special effects. A control room will house the vision mixer and audio controls for the three TV cameras, and spaces for editing and postproduction work.

This dedicated facility will replace the current temporary arrangements in various areas across the School, providing a permanent home for “BGTV News” and production, offering our media students a great place to learn and grow. The space may also be used for live streaming content and be a dedicated venue for all types of media creation.

THE MUST MEMORIAL LIBRARY

Redevelopment

The Must Memorial Library has been re-imagined to support the changing learning needs of the increasing number of students in Middle and Senior Schools. The proposed works include a multifunctional ‘gathering stair’ for improved connection between levels, openable doors and walls between learning spaces for collaboration and flexibility, and an increased number of windows enhancing the relationship to the outdoors creating a sense of openness and natural light. The project includes additions to the existing building with a reconfigured and more accessible entry to emphasise the central library’s definition of ‘place’ as a hub of information and learning within the school. “ A contemporary education requires modern facilities that support student-centric learning and promote creative and critical thought. The Must Memorial Library redevelopment will provide open and dynamic learning spaces that encourage all students to learn, reflect, create, challenge, and innovate. The pulse of learning that beats throughout the Middle and Senior Schools will be stronger once this project comes to fruition.” - Mr Chris Beechy, Head of Middle School
