Spring 2011 nO. 7
Welcome to Zizzi We looove curves - as should be obvious from our magazine. The new look and contents reflect our love of beautiful womanly bodies and curves. We want you to feel welcome in the new magazine, just as in our stores. We hope that you can use the magazine as inspiration for picking out the clothes that are just right for you, so you will be able to easily pick out your wardrobe for the coming spring and summer. And when you see clothes from our collections in the magazine, you can be sure that they are available in a size that will fit you. At Zizzi, we love the exciting challenge of designing and producing clothes that suit a diversity of body types and shapes. Anyone that has ever tried sewing their own clothes, will know that it is about so much more than just making the clothes larger. And our stores are staffed by experienced experts with extensive knowledge of the cuts, patterns and sizes that work for different bodies - and they are not afraid of curves. Shopping for clothes should be fun, but it is not always. Sometimes, there are limited choices in plus sizes, which can quickly take the fun out of shopping. In our stores we often notice the relief in new customers when they realize that they do not have to worry if clothes will be available in their size. The joy of trying on a pair of jeans, that are a perfect fit as well as comfortable to wear. The feeling of safety that comes from staff that know what is important - and who love curves! Enjoy reading

Makeup guide
what to do 1. Base: Start by applying concealer above and below the eye to reduce dark circles and make the skin more even. Next, add powder to form a smooth foundation on the eyelid - this binds the eye makeup and makes it last. 2. Apply eyeliner: Draw a line along the upper eyelid and make sure to work it in between the lashes. The line should be thick, so that you can use a finger to smear it into a shadow afterwards. It does not have to be perfect. The smokey eyes look is meant to be a little whimsical.
3. Apply eyeshadow:
What you need
• Concealer & powder • Eyeliner (soft is best) • Eyeshadow (dark and light - and maybe more hues) • Soft brush • Maybe hightlighter
Apply the light shadow from the edge of the eyelid to the eyebrow and towards the inner corner of the eye. Next, add the dark shadow from the lashes towards the eyebrow and work it into the skin with a soft brush. Remember to soften the transition between light and dark shadow to make it appealing and without any hard edges.
How to do smokey eyes
4. Lower lash line:
No party without smokey eyes – the sexy eye makeup transforms you into the queen of the night! We have created the ultimate guide for you to easily achieve this alluring evening look
Eyeshadow from Dior from MAC Eyepencil
eyeshadowfrom L’oréal
Pensel from Bobbi Brown
Apply eyeliner along the lower lash line. Use a cotton swab or a finger to fade out the line and add some of the dark eyeshadow along the lash line to frame the eye. Finish by adding plenty of black mascara to the eye lashes.
5. Final touch: If you want extra intense eyes, you can apply eyeliner to the wet brim - this also hides red eyes that you might tend to get later in the evening. If you have a hightlighter (a creamy shader made of light reflecting pigments) you can benefit from adding a little to the inner corner of the eye and below the eyebrow - this catches the light and adds an extra shimmer to the eyes.

Big Beautiful Woman The term was coined by journalist Carole Shaw as she in 1979 launched the BBW Magazine dedicated to plus size women. The magazine still exists and can be found on the Internet at bbwmagazine.com. Tellingly, the magazine's subtitle is "the power of plus". The term BBW is now used everywhere on the Internet and it's a very useful keyword if you want to find some of the vast amount of websites on topics directed at big, beautiful women.

WE LOOOVE CURVES Men just really like women and size doesn't matter to them. We look closely at some of the world's sexiest plus size women By Morten Steiniche
Elisabeth Balslev is the source for this article. She is a licensed psychotherapist and the author of the Danish books ”Food with feelings” and ”Inner turmoil”.
Marilyn Monroe Marylin Monroe (1926-1962) was one of the worlds biggest sex symbols and cultural icons. Her beautiful curves were loved by men and envied by women the world over. Though she was found dead nearly 50 years ago, Marilyn Monroe is still regarded as one of the world's most sexy women.
Big Beautiful Woman. The world's greatest female sex symbol was a BBW. The name started as a phenomenon on the Internet some years ago and means in short a big, beautiful woman who is proud of herself and not ashamed of her body. And the sex symbol, yes of course it is Marilyn Monroe we are talking about. A seductive beauty with pouty lips and voluptuous curves that enchanted and
blinded even the U.S. president John F. Kennedy. Marilyn Monroe is far from the only BBW with almost divine sex appeal. Actually history is filled with curvy women, from the old testament to Shakespeare's poetry and to the present day. In virtually all civilizations, voluptuous women have been the ideal for millennia, and many places in the world - for example in South America and Africa - they still are. That it has changed in the West, dictated by the fashion industry, is puzzling because the truth of the matter is that the vast majority of men actually prefer women with curves. ”In my time as a therapist, I have never met any men who had a problem with the weight of their girlfriend or wife. Men like curvy women.” So says licensed psychotherapist Elisabeth Balslev. She has encountered numerous curvy women in her professional life.

Beautiful and curvy we looove curves
Anita Ekberg Perhaps the most famous and curved actress ever. The Swedish sex symbol rejoiced in her curves and became a role model for millions of women worldwide. Even when Anita Ekberg put on quite some weight in the 70s she continued to live off on her glamorous image as a woman in complete harmony with her body and in 1979 she even posed nude in a photo shoot.
Famous Women With curves Melissa Aronson Emme, or Melissa Aronson is one of the best paid plus size models in the world. She has repeatedly been named as one of the world's most beautiful women and has also had an immense impact on many curvy women's self-image. In 1999 she was named to be the most important woman in the U.S. that year. It was far from written in the stars that Emme would become a famous plus size woman. When Melissa was a teenager her stepfather using a speedmarker made a sketchup of places on her stomach where he thought she should lose weight.
According to her it is not about your size, but about how you comfortable you are with your size. Curves are natural “It is natural for women to have curves. We need curves to survive, to give birth to babies and to be able to breastfeed them. So nature has given us a layer of fat, and that does not have to imply low selfesteem. You can be ample and attractive – the sense of being good enough comes from someplace deeper. It is all about selfesteem," Elisabeth Balslev says. Accepting yourself and finding curves natural are key concepts in the trend that is currently moving across the USA these years. There is a growing tendency for curvacious women to become fashionable. In the fashion industry it is apparent from how a growing number of brands and designers are thowing themselves at clothes for ample women. Shapely foto

Anna Nicole Smith The now deceased model was by many men regarded as one of the world's sexiest and most luxuriant women. At one point, when Anna Nicole Smith was advertising for underwear, posters of this voluptuous woman were torn down by fans who could not get enough of the girl's curves.
Missy Elliott
A campaign for real beauty
Photo: getty, bulls and polfoto
The American rap and R&B singer has for many years been considered an icon for curvy African Americans. When she at one point was trying to lose weight - and did - she got very strong reactions from many angry fans.
In 2004 skincare product company Dove launched a campaign under the name Campaign for Real Beauty where a group of women was celebrating their everyday bodies. Women were simply passed up on the street by the famous photographer Ian Rankin who portrayed the women in their underwear. The campaign got a lot of attention in the media and ended up standing as one of the most positive publicity events in modern times. Dove named it a SelfEsteem campaign with the aim of "liberating the next generation of self-limiting beauty stereotypes."
Mona Lisa Mia Tyler Liv Tyler's sister is not as well known in Europe but in America she is known as both an actress, designer and not least as a very highly paid plus size fashion model. Mia Tyler is also a known social critic and role model.
Leonardo Da Vinci didn't base the world's most famous painting on a thin model but on a curvy woman who in our day would be considered as a BBW.
Men do not care about women's weight
Aretha Franklin The woman with the world's largest voice is also known for her unfailing clothing style that highlights her superb curves. Aretha Franklin is both beautiful and big and a strong role model for fashion conscious women of all sizes.
According to the authors of the book "Why Men Want Sex and Women Need Love" men do not pour a lot of thought into a woman's weight. They are actually programmed to be turned on by women with a waist-hip ratio of 70 percent - also known as the hourglass figure - because women of that shape are more likely to become pregnant than others. Even if the woman is very large that body shape captures the male attention - but will fade off again if she complains about her body. According to the authors men are fed up listening to women's dissatisfaction with their appearance and phrases like 'my thighs are too fat' and 'my breasts are too small' turns them off.

S Christina Hendricks
The American actor known for her shapely exterior and red hair was in 2010 voted the Sexiest Woman in the World by readers of Esquire Magazine. Christina Hendricks brings memories of the 60s Marilyn Monroe-type with voluptuous shapes rather than muscles.
the new style-icons
models have become hot celebrities in the American media landscape, the internet is buzzing with lifestyle magazines for curvy women and everywhere, the message is the same: Big is beautiful! Psychotherapist Per Holm Knudsen agrees that men find acceptance important. According to him, men just want women who feel as comfortable with their bodies as possible. It is not at all about your weight. It is about how you made it through life, and wether you have a good background. Sexuality has nothing to do with size. Men

like many different kinds of women. They get turned on by women with self-esteem and an appetite for life. That is much more important than looks," explains Per Holm Knudsen, as he thinks back to his own childhood, when ample women were considered healthy. They still are, he thinks, at least in the eyes of men.

Plus-size models have become the new style icons and celebrities in the U.S.. Many of them act as role models who teach other women to accept and love their bodies regardless of size. Popularity is of course due to that many women find it much easier identifying with the plus-size models in contrast to the very thin models found in fashion magazines. And it is no wonder that it is hard to identify with the often very young and thin models because according to statistics: It is only about 1 % of the population in the U.S. and Europe which are as thin as them.

Full bottom If you want to shift attention away from a full bottom, wear a light top and a dark bottom. A tunic or a long blouse works well, and covers the widest body part without hiding too much.
The light west in the crotchet look helps shift focus to the upper body. The scarf with animal prints has tassels that gives it a nice length.
Tip! Lon g scarf and necklace adds len gth to your bod y
The white summer tunic draws attention to itself and is perfect for springtime.
The long tunic covers the widest part of your bottom, making it look smaller. The classic cut of the tunic makes it a lasting addition to your wardrobe.
The dark, classic leggings fit the body well, without drawing attention.

This beautiful, patterned tunic draws attention to the upper body. The knee long tunic shows off the legs from their slimmest point down. Smart!

Full bosom You can use clothing to emphasize a full bosom, or to subtly cover it. The outfit on the right provides a classic solution, without being boring, and is well suited for casual or party wear. Choose a free falling skirt to add balance, and use it along with a transparent top. The delicate fabric adds a sense of lightness to your body. jumpsuit Y91081A, Mar, dkk 499,95 / nok 599,- / sek 599:- / eur 69,95 Shirt J92223A*, Apr, dkk 399,95 / nok 499,- / sek 499:- / eur 54,95 *Available in many colors

Full waist Tip! Vertical lines help add a sense of len gth to the bod y. Go for lon g chains rather than short. An open Cardi gan or shirt also creates vertical lines, as do scarfs and vests.
There are many good ways to shift focus from your waist. Fill your wardrobe with light tunics, that discreetly cover everything - and do not forget smart accessories!
The many long chains by Qnuz match the light tunic well and also add length to the body in a fashionable way. The raw denim vest with copper studs draw attention to chest and shoulders, so the waist seem slimmer.
This light rosa tunic rests loosly across the waist, while the fine vertical embroidery makes the waist seem slimmer.
This light blouse, in its elegant cut, covers without being too prominent. Wear it open, so the vertical lines add a lovely length to your body. Great for spring or summer!
This classy, dark pantsuit has good width and distributes the volume to give great balance to your silhouette.
Lovely, light jeans are always a good choice that make your legs look good.

Tara Lynn - Topmodel
The American plus size model Tara Lynn is a genuine story of success and a strong role model for curvy women worldwide By Morten Steiniche
Take one more look at the cover. That beautiful woman is named Tara Lynn, she is 28 and in March last year she graced the French edition of the trendsetting fashion magazine Elle, accompanied by a 20 page portrait article in the magazine. Tara Lynn is vivid proof that there is an ongoing movement in the western world where women with curves are becoming more prominent in the fashion industry. “People have simply got a different attitude towards people who look a little different. It seems that today we allow people to be more diverse, you are allowed to have your own individual character. For example, there is a lot more spotlight on us plus size models, which is really good because it rubs off on the acceptance of other women with voluptuous curves. It has simply become more acceptable to be plus size. So in that way I and the other plus size models have become a kind of role models who represent both natural beauty and health,” says Tara Lynn on a
telephone line from her house in Seattle where she lives. A lot of attention Tara Lynn was a normal teenager, a bit tall and strongly build, and it was only in the later teens, she began to stand out. When she got to high school, she saw a plus size model in a magazine, which was unprecedented at the time. Today that is fortunately different. Why it's beginning to change, Tara Lynn has no answer to. “I really don’t know. I wish I knew. But I just ride the wave and feel really lucky,”she says. The cover of French Elle did not just attract a lot of attention in international fashion circles, it also meant a lot more work for Tara, who became a highly sought after fashion model. “The cover of Elle came after there had been a major feature about me in V Magazine (American fashion magazine, ed). I was actually not aware that Elle was

considering putting me on the cover when they shot the pictures of me. I was not even sure whether they would use the story about me. Haha, that's crazy thinking. But the French seemed to appreciate the issue, there was certainly a lot of buyers for it. And I am now in the situation that I have to say no to a lot of jobs, because I get offered so much to do. So Elle has certainly given me a whole lot of attention.“ Fluent in French and Arabic Tara Lynn was born and raised in Seattle. At 19 years she traveled to France to study, returned to America and traveled once more to France as a 21-year-old, where she worked as a nanny for a French family with two children. Back in the States, she began studying French and Arabic at the University. Two languages she masters fully today and which she would like - sometime in the future – to be teaching.

It was during her studies that Tara Lynn got her courage up and approached a modeling agency. “I had just quit a boring job in a bank and had enrolled at University to study Arabic. And because I simply needed money, I decided to contact an agency in Seattle. The Agency had a reputation for being very talented and they were also specialized in working with plus size models. To my big surprise they said yes. A year and a half later, I contacted Ford Models in New York because I felt it was a good idea to be represented in New York too. And surprisingly they also said yes,” says Tara Lynn, who - you can hear sounds like a really happy girl with a very easy laugh. Healthy food and yoga So what is the secret behind Tara Lynn's joie de vivre? “If my self esteem is low I make sure to
I love Tivoli "I've been to Copenhagen a few times in connection with the shooting of Zizzi, and I enjoy being there so much. I simply love the city. Copenhagen is so stunningly beautiful. But since I do not speak Danish, I can feel a bit isolated when walking around town. I usually like to take a stroll in Tivoli, when I'm in Denmark. I really adore Tivoli.”

do something to change it. I simply take control of my life. In addition, I keep myself constantly physically active. It gives a lot of energy. Be active and eat healthily. Then you're well on your way,“ the model explains. She herself stays in shape with long walks in the countryside and lots of yoga. “I love to do yoga. Hot yoga in a well heated room. It feels absolutely fantastic
when your muscles are warmed up that way.” In her spare time, Tara Lynn appreciate being with people she loves. The family and the dog, which she says is faithfully lying behind her during the interview. And then of course her boyfriend who is Half Spaniard and half Venezuelan and owns a restaurant located right beside the house where Tara Lynn lives. The specialties are Latino food, which Tara Lynn
“I had just quit a boring job in a bank and had enrolled at University to study Arabic”
appreciates. The couple will soon have been together for three years, which they are going to celebrate. How, she will not say, but it sounds like they are going on a trip somewhere. “I love to travel and fortunately modelling provides me with the opportunity to travel far and wide. My next job is in Puerto Rico and I am looking so much forward to it.” What the future holds for Tara Lynn in the longer term, she does not know, but she has a few ideas. “Yes, I would like to use my language education. But I have also just begun playing again and started to practice opera singing. Opera is the most acrobatic thing you can do with your voice. I've always been completely in love with that way of singing,” she says. So maybe we will see you on stage at the Opera in Copenhagen one day? “I do hope so, haha.”

break the old habits First and foremost you must be willing to try something new. It sounds simple but it is very important that you take a decision to get started - and then just do it!
Make a gentle start If you are not accustomed to wearing jewelry or accessories, then start out with a few pieces and wear them for 14 days until you get used to them. You should not go from using no jewelry to a whole lot. Later you can start to experiment some more.
Train yourself Wearing more jewelry or jewelry in a different way is a bit like training a new habit. You're not in shape at the beginning, and it feels a little strange and weird. But after awhile, you

feel more comfortable with it and then you can start playing with your style and try more of the different core styles.
Be daring Don’t worry about whether the jewelry matches your clothes. It can be fun if they actually don’t match. For example, try combining a leather bracelet and a pearl bracelet with a suit jacket. Or match a rubber bracelet with one in precious metal.
Shift focus You can use the accessories and jewelry to shift focus. For example if you do not want focus on your stomach, do not put a broad belt right on it. Place instead a big beautiful piece of jewelry around your neck or use some big earrings.
The classic look A clean style of design. Silver necklaces, jewelry and clothes that use graphic expression.
Den classic type: Princess Mary
The feminine look Is delicate and light in the expression. Use pendant with hearts, flowers, stones and beads.
The feminine type: Scarlett Johansson

Tips for more energy
Are your batteries running low on energy? Take a look and learn how to turn your energy crisis into new personal power By Lars Andresen
1
Energysmoothie
Refill your energy reserves with a smoothie that boosts your blood sugar:
1/2 banana, 2 kiwies 100 g cantaloupe melon 100 g blackberries Cut everything in pieces and blend. You can add a bit of orange juice to get a lighter smoothie.
2 Relax in a sauna Visiting a sauna at 90c will relax your muscles and make you purge the body's toxins through sweat. Even though you may feel a bit drained at first, the investment will pay off in new energy in the long term.
68
Meet mr. Magnesium The mineral magnesium is one of the body's biggest boosters when it comes to energy. It uses it's iron fist to release new energy for muscles, nerves and generating new cells – so you would do well to stay on good terms with mister Magnesium. You can find him in full whole grain foods, leguminous plants and green vegetables.

dry washing 4
...your body is the quick, cheap and easy way to an energy boost. Do it in the morning to wake up your body and kick-start your blood circulation – and as an added bonus, you'll also be making your body smooth and supple. how to do it: • Use a brush or hemp glove and stroke towards your heart. • Start from the right foot towards the hip and from the right hand towards the shoulder. Continue to the left side. • Then do your back, belly and chest and finish by brushing the side of your torso. • Finally take a quick cold shower – and the day will already be well underway.
water is Fresh 6
Ordinary tap water is actually one of the greatest sources of antioxidants. It can raise your mood if you make sure to drink a couple of glasses of water in the afternoon, when energy levels start dropping.
7
Let there be light
In the north, light can be a scarce commodity. Here are a few tips for boosting your light intake: • Go for a walk in the morning and a short walk in the afternoon. • Sit next to a window. • Get out in the sunny spring!

skin energy Dead skin cells building up on your skin can lead to a tired, lifeless look. So treat yourself to a facescrub once or twice a week. That way, you can remove the 'dead bodies' og regain your youthful glow.
10
8
Smile and the world smiles back
...is a bit of a cliché – but it's true. Your attitude affects your energy level. Pretend to be full of energy and cheer, and tadaa – suddenly you will be. Why? The trick makes the body release energetic endorphines for the brain. Smart.
Hooray for chocaholics! Cocoa beans are rich in antioxidants, which boost your health and energy level. Så have a piece of dark chocolate whenever you need a quick fix.
9
take a pill an 11 Add energizing
vitamin pill to your healthy, varied diet. This way, you can get ready for summer with full reserves.
13 healthy hair = more energy
14
One of the things that can really get you down in the winter are hopeless hairdays, so in springtime, give your hair new life and get new energy for yourself.
Eat smart carbohydrates Have a piece of fruit instead of eating snacks when you run out of energy. Fruit contains so-called smart carbohydrates, which make blood sugar slowly rise and give you lasting energy. The sweetly tempting snacks, on the other hand, will make you crash and burn.
15
12 give your face a massage
Looking tired? Use a couple of minutes to massage your face before applying makeup. This gets the blood flowing and gives glow and energy.
A bit of cheating Pssst... You can cheat and get an energetic look as if by magic, using your concealer. Apply it under the eyes and in the corners of the eyes, and then smear with your fingers – and you will be fresh as ever. Fantastic!
Good night sweet dreams Sleep is one of our most important sources of energy. If you deprive yourself of sleep, you will feel weak as a baby. So make your bedroom a sacred temple where your energy is recharged!
