Jeff Pensak – Real Estate and Business Networking Golf Event May 15th

Tell us about yourself?

I am from Baltimore and am one of five sons. My last name may sound familiar as I have 3 brothers in town involved in different businesses, as well as my mom who is a well-known writer. I have always been involved in business one way or another since a young age. I was in the construction, manufacturing, landscaping and retail sectors before putting those skills to work in the real estate industry.

What type of real estate are you involved with?

I am a commercial real estate investment sales broker with Marcus & Millichap. I work out of their Baltimore and DC offices. I focus on the retail sector, and I am part of a 5-person team helping clients buy and sell shopping centers in the Mid-Atlantic and single tenant net leased properties around the US.

What is Marcus and Millichap?

Marcus & Millichap is a publicly traded commercial brokerage company with over 80 offices in the US and Canada and has over 2000 agents solely focused on investment real estate sales. They have investment brokers focused on retail, multi-family, self storage, hospitality, industrial as well as other asset classes.

What types of clients do you work with?

I work with a wide range of clients from the private high net worth investors looking to buy their first triple net leased property with hands off involvement for cash flow and depreciation to the sophisticated public real estate investment trusts. I also work with a lot of clients that are looking to perform a 1031 exchange from either a more management intensive asset class or just trading up to a larger property.

What trends are you seeing now in the retail real estate market?

While retail has had a negative reputation since before COVID, we learned during it how important physical retail really was. Online retailers are realizing that having physical retail stores actually helps their online sales in those markets. There is still currently lots of money chasing retail deals which are still causing pricing to be at record highs. Interest rates have been rising steadily and we are just starting to see it affect pricing.

I understand you are putting together a real estate and business networking golf event on behalf of Ner Tamid. How did that come about?

Besides real estate, I also enjoy giving back to my community and I am very involved with my shul, Ner Tamid. I am currently the co-president of our brotherhood, and when COVID was more of an issue, the shul was looking for a nice way to put on an outdoor community event that people would be comfortable attending. After spending some time researching different options, golf was chosen due to its growing popularity and shortage of community golf events.

Where and when will the event be held?

Sunday, May 15, at Pine Ridge Golf Course in Timonium.

How do I sign up or sponsor?

Visit NerTamidGolf.com

Do you need to be a golfer to attend the event?

No. The event was designed to be a fun, relaxed way to meet other business owners and people involved in the real estate industry. If you are not a golfer, we have an option to just join us for the networking and dinner portion that will be taking place after golfing.

Do you have any final thoughts you would like to add?

I would like to thank our event sponsors and volunteers who have been helpful in getting this event off the ground. I would like to invite everyone to join us on Sunday, May 15th, for what promises to be a great event. If I can ever be of assistance to anyone, whether they are an experienced real estate investor or looking to learn about the industry, I am always available to chat.
