M&T BANK GAME PREVIEW

QUOTH THE RAVEN "You could tell that this game carries a lot of weight. I’m a football fan. I’ve been watching football all my life and have been playing it long enough to know this: There’s no bigger rivalry in sport – in professional sports – than this matchup. As a football fan, I’ve watched it from afar for plenty of years, and I’m happy to finally be in it." – DE Calais Campbell on the Ravens-Steelers Rivalry

In a showdown that features the AFC North’s top two teams, the Baltimore Ravens (5-1) host the Pittsburgh Steelers (6-0) at M&T Bank Stadium. The last six meetings between these two rivals have been split, 3-3, with Baltimore sweeping the 2019 series. The Ravens are 5-1 for the third time in franchise history, also achieving this feat during their Super Bowl-winning seasons (2000 & 2012). Additionally, dating back to Week 5 of 2019, Baltimore has won 17 of its past 18 regular season games. Baltimore enters this contest fresh off its bye after beating the Eagles, 30-28, in Week 6. In that game, the Ravens held off a late Philadelphia rally after nabbing a 30-14 lead in the fourth quarter. Baltimore’s defense racked up 18 QB hits and 6 sacks, 3 of which came from DE Calais Campbell. Baltimore forced a turnover (S Chuck Clark FR) for its league-best 19th-consecutive game, while on offense, QB Lamar Jackson led the charge by gaining 108 of the Ravens’ 182 rushing yards. Jackson produced a 37-yard rushing TD and threw for another score (7 yards to TE Nick Boyle). K Justin Tucker was clutch, nailing all 3 of his FGAs, including a 55-yarder. In the all-time Baltimore-Pittsburgh series, the Steelers lead the regular season count, 25-23, also going 3-1 in the playoffs. Under John Harbaugh, Baltimore is 14-13 (including playoffs) against Pittsburgh. Baltimore’s defense ranks No. 1 in the NFL in points allowed per game

NUMBERS TO RAVE ABOUT 7 The Ravens have forced a turnover in 19-consecutive games, marking the NFL’s longest active streak. 7 Baltimore’s current 19-game streak of forcing a turnover stands as the second longest in franchise history. 7 Baltimore has produced 33 takeaways (18 INTs & 15 FRs) during this 19-game streak, with 12 courtesy of CBs Marlon Humphrey (6 – 3 INTs & 3 FRs) and Marcus Peters (6 – 5 INTs & 1 FR). 2004 nfl defensive player of the year

ED REED

A FOOTBALL CAREER ETCHED IN MORE THAN MEMORY BY DAN HOROWITZ

Over 25 seasons, the Baltimore Ravens have established a reputation for being one of the NFL’s most prolific defenses, year-in and yearout. Their aggressive, hard-hitting, turnover-provoking style of play has certainly withstood the test of time. Perhaps no player has embodied these core defensive values more than Ed Reed. In fact, many can make the case that even beyond the inception of the Ravens franchise, the NFL has never seen a defender play with the fearlessness and calculated aggression of Reed. Originally selected by the Ravens in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft, Reed went on to play 11 of his 12 NFL seasons in Baltimore. His illustrious career included the ultimate team goal – a Super Bowl Championship – and numerous individual accolades. Among them were his nine Pro Bowl honors, five AP first-team All-Pro distinctions and a Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2004. From his first season to his last, Reed kept quarterbacks guessing and pounced on each and every opportunity to cause havoc. He knew how to bait quarterbacks and capitalize on their folly of throwing near him. With 21 interceptions in his first three years – the most through a player’s first three

seasons in the Super Bowl Era – Reed quickly earned a reputation as an elite defensive playmaker and hardly flew under the radar. “Not every kid wanted the ball,” Reed said in 2019, as he reflected on how his childhood days in St. Rose, La. – where he played baseball, football and ran track – instilled his knack for being around the ball. “And even the kid that did want the ball, not all were playmakers. That was something that I could say was in me for a long time. Whether that was me pitching or up to bat [in baseball], I wanted to be that guy.” Furthermore, it was what Reed did with a football in his hands following an interception that caused the opposition to lose sleep at night. He owns the most interception return yards and the two longest interception returns in NFL history.

quarterbacked New England with a telling message on his wristband: “Find 20 on every play.” The message served as a visible reminder for Brady, who would go on to say that Reed is, “Pretty much ingrained permanently in my mind.” Though, No. 20's football career is etched in more than memory. As a Ring of Honor enshrinee, Reed is embedded in the fabric of the Baltimore Ravens franchise. And with a detailed bust – perfectly depicting his beard-hair combination – in Canton, Ohio, Reed is cemented amongst the best to ever play the game.

Undoubtedly, the danger Reed presented to opposing quarterbacks was drilled into the back of their minds each time they dropped back to pass. But one quarterback took it a step further. During a Ravens-Patriots playoff game, Tom Brady brought the threat of Ed Reed out from the back of his mind and on to the front of his wrist – literally. That afternoon, he 2020 BALTIMORE RAVENS GAMEDAY | 11

VOTING INITIATIVES In the 2016 presidential election, only 60% of eligible Americans showed up to vote. To ensure that the 2020 election has the largest recorded voter turnout in American history, the Baltimore Ravens have spent much of the year working with non-partisan organizations such as NFL Votes, League of Women Voters of Maryland and RISE to Vote. All of these organizations aim to encourage active participation in voting and civic engagement. They have all worked to engage players, coaches, staff and fans and educate them on the importance of voting. Each organization breaks down the process on how to register and eventually cast a ballot. The Ravens worked with Speaker of the

Maryland House of Delegates, Adrienne Jones, while she implored all Maryland residents to vote. Jones specifically highlighted the importance of the vote for women, as this year marks the centennial anniversary of the women's suffrage amendment. Additionally, OLB Tyus Bowser, DE Calais Campbell, OLB Matthew Judon, DB/LB Anthony Levine Sr., T Ronnie Stanley and K Justin Tucker all joined forces to record a PSA advocating for Maryland residents and Ravens fans from across the country to register to vote, through RiseToVote.org. "Regardless of your party, we each have a responsibility to choose our representation. Let's all be heard this election day!"
