RAVENS

THE RAVEN QUOTH “I'm working on everything to

get better – every aspect. I’m not a perfect player. I don’t think anybody is a perfect player, but I’m trying to work on everything – throwing the ball outside, throwing deep passes, throwing intermediate passes, short passes, running a little bit here and there, getting moves out of the pocket – everything.” – QB Lamar Jackson on what he's doing to improve his game

LB Patrick Queen

The Baltimore Ravens kick off their 26th season when they open the 2021 NFL campaign by hosting the New Orleans Saints at M&T Bank Stadium (7 p.m.) in the first week of preseason play. In 2020, the Ravens earned their thirdstraight playoff berth – and ninth overall under head coach John Harbaugh – with an 11-5 regular season record. Baltimore advanced to the Divisional Round of the playoffs for the eighth time during Coach Harbaugh’s 13 years at the helm. In 2020, Baltimore won six-straight games – including a 20-13 Wild Card battle at No. 4 Tennessee – before falling, 17-3, in the Divisional Round at No. 2 Buffalo to close out the season. The Ravens’ 2020 rushing attack finished No. 1 in the NFL (191.9 ypg) and produced the third-most yards (3,071) in a 16game NFL season. (In 2019, Baltimore set the record with 3,296 rushing yards.) Baltimore had three players – QB Lamar Jackson (1,005), RB J.K. Dobbins (805) & RB Gus Edwards (723) – rush for over 700 yards each, while Jackson became the first QB in NFL history to surpass the 1,000-yard rushing milestone in multiple seasons. The Ravens scored the NFL’s seventhmost points (29.3) in 2020, with Jackson completing 64.4% of his passes for 2,757 yards, 26 TDs and 9 INTs (99.3 rating), also adding 7 rushing TDs. Baltimore allowed the NFL’s second-fewest points (18.9) and seventh-fewest yards (329.8) in 2020. The Ravens produced

ON THE RAVENS' TEAM CULTURE:

“Culture’ is a word that gets used a lot. ‘Work environment’ is another word that we use. What do we stand for, what do we believe in, what are we about, who are we? Those are things we talk about. In the end, we are who the individual pieces are. Hopefully, we’re greater than the sum of our parts. I think that we’re about something, and I think it’s very clear cut what we are and what we stand for on the field and off, even as an organization.”

OLB Justin Houston

welcome to the Ravens Flock,

Justin Houston!

WELCOME BACK,

RASHOD BATEMAN

OLB ODAFE OWEH

JOHN HARBAUGH

"[The M&T Bank Stadium practice] felt like I just got done playing a game. Back in college, we didn't have fans. So, it was good being able to see that. Especially being in Baltimore, it feels special. Everybody is welcoming me with open arms, so I'm taking it all in and having fun. Today was a special day, for sure."

"[The environment for the open training camp practice on July 31st] was really electric. I haven't played in front of fans in a while, because the Big Ten didn't have fans, and COVID and everything. So, it was really, really electric, and the butterflies were in my stomach. I was just getting pumped up. I already know it's going to get better than that, so it's good, it's good."

"It was so much fun to be in here [at the M&T Bank Stadium practice] with the fans. They were into it, weren't they? We had like 23,000 fans. It was a lot of happy people, so that was great. [It's] just kind of a little bit back to normal."

SAMMY WATKINS

“Sammy is a gem. He’s a great player and a great person. Sammy, to me, is one of the best receivers in the NFL – period. he’s a much more seasoned player than I knew him in his second year. Every day with him is a great day.” - OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR GREG ROMAN

“Sammy makes my job a lot easier. Even when we’re doing scramble drills, he’s fighting off defenders, getting open. I love working with him. I’m glad he’s here.” - QB LAMAR JACKSON

“YAC” ATTACK

Since WR Sammy Watkins entered the league in 2014, his 14.53 yards per reception mark ranks No. 7 in the NFL among players with at least 300 receptions.

DIRECT FROM SAMMY… WHAT DO YOU ENVISION FOR LIFE AFTER FOOTBALL? “I think broadcasting is definitely something I’d venture off in. But I also want to have my own facility in my neighborhood. I’m already building that now. I want to create a forum for kids to go visit colleges, go to seminars and talk about mental health; [I want to] have educational youth camps, get the kids mentally involved in themselves outside of the community.”

DO YOU HAVE A PRE-GAME/POST-GAME RITUAL? “It’s not really a superstition, but it’s more about how I feel. I have to do the same routine. I have to listen to my Tupac Shakur and DMX.”

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE SUPERHERO? “Going back in my era, it would be Superman.”

WHO WAS YOUR FAVORITE ATHLETE GROWING UP? “Michael Jordan. I’ve literally seen him dominate sports in general. He’s the G.O.A.T.”

HOMETOWN HERO KICKOFF KID Hey kids, do you want to be recognized as the official Wawa Kickoff Kid this season? Winners will receive a Ravens jersey, an autographed item and 4 tickets to a game during the 2021 season.

For the 9th season, the Baltimore Ravens & Cigna will honor heroes making a positive contribution to their communities. At every Ravens home game, we will recognize first responders, active duty & veteran military members, and "every day heroes" that are making a difference.

Visit www.baltimoreravens.com/contests or @RavensPromos on Twitter for more details on all of the above promotions and to check out other contests currently running. 2021 BALTIMORE RAVENS GAMEDAY | 25
