RESEARCH SUMMARY RESULTS RIT SIS needs to improve by creating an EASE of NAVIGATION that allows students to FIND NECESSARY information and COMPLETE GOALS. SIS should create an INVITING and PERSONAL experience for all students. The visual design should reflect RIT’s EXCELLENCE and INNOVATION. 1

Create a more simple site navigation

2

Include a personalized section

3

Create heirarchy within the site so that important information is readily available

4

Design a schedule section that students can easily manage 4

USER DEFINED The typical user is an RIT STUDENT who has a FAST PACED and BUSY life and wants a SIMPLE and INTUITIVE system to aid in their SUCCESS.

PROJECT SUMMARY This SIS Redesign addresses the main pain points speciďŹ ed by real users. Navigation, visual design and ease of completing necessary tasks. The navigation issue was solved by creating a system in which 90% of the information needed by students is on the home page, with modal windows that open up to display additional information. The visual design is clean, appealing and representative of RIT through the typeface, colors, spacing, heirarchy and contrast. Each task that a student could possibly need to complete now has its own speciďŹ ed location and section. These tasks are completed through a series of simple steps that tracks your progress along the way, as demonstrated in the pages that have been redesigned.
