If You Don’t Like These Jokes, This Country Isn’t For You Preamble-Somewhere a redistricted body clerically 86’d another constituent. This time, the would-be voter, an invalid woman, was declared too great a liability for any legislature to have an opinion and best not to weigh in on. A councillor examining a recent case involving the lady and a writ calling for her involuntary commitment, cracked that the lady’s extenuating circumstances would give the APA consideration for publishing an addendum to the DSM-5; the response to the lawyer’s punchline was lusterless at best. The zoned invalid got her respect due in the form of slogan branding for a nonprofit advocacy group. The slogan read: ‘It doesn’t seem this hot anywhere else’. All that to say, the invalid woman’s slogan, or one-liner, as it happens, is one-part climatological irreverence and two parts meteorological wryness, radiating with innocent buoyancy. Of course, the summer the invalid’s line paid-off wasn’t at all hot, but unseasonally temperate, validating any depth of humor through paradox.
Straight Time-FINALLY for Fall 2013, as if it couldn’t come soon enough. Thanx valids/invalids, recidivists/stuffedshirts; without your readership (or really, once-over), our publication would’ve atrophied into Internet unconsciousness, much like the late Bob Guccione, Jr. franchise and you’d be left partnerless with only wavering juvenilia to call your replacement. In preparation for the coming year of expectation, this issue should caution and if studied carefully, callous both first-time and continuing readers to blows, breaks and burns of (re)new(ed) yearlong sentencing. Treat FINALLY as your Western/Eastern Spiritual Alternative-- what else do you have?
