Introduction If you’ve been involved in evangelism for any length of time, you’re well acquainted with the battle against your own “flesh” that takes place every time you plan to go out witnessing. For me, it usually strikes in the car on the way to our “fishing hole.” My husband (Dale) is usually driving, and I’m sitting in the passenger seat getting sick to my stomach. Over and over in my head, my “flesh” is shouting, “Why on earth are you making me do this again!?” That’s usually when I pull out my little pocket Bible and re-read (what I feel are) the most encouraging scriptures on evangelism. The scriptures, coupled with intense prayer, usually makes that “fleshly” side quiet down a little. I’ve also included the scriptures I find myself having to use again and again in both personal witnessing and open air. In my opinion, they would be great ones to have memorized. The very back of the book has a place for notes. This is a good place to write the names and phone numbers of your fishing team. One, for easy access... and two so that you remember

9. Ever told a lie?

God says “...all liars, shall have their part in the lake of fire...” Revelation 21:8

Jesus said that lust is “adultery of the heart” (Matthew 5:28) - God says that no adulterers “...shall inherit the kingdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Idolatry of the imagination is the oldest sin in the Book, “these men have set up their idols in their heart...” Ezek. 14:3. God says that no idolators “...shall inherit the kingdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

10. Ever been greedy?

God says that he actually hates (abhors) “the covetous,” Psalm 10:3, and of those who are covetous (greedy) he says, “they which commit such things are worthy of death,” Rom 1:29-32. Also see 1 Tim. 6:10.

5. Ever dishonored your parents?

God says, “he that curses his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death...” Ex. 21:17 and “rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft” - 1 Samuel 15:23

1. Ever broken the first commandment?

“You shall have no other gods before me.” That means that we should love God with all of our heart, mind, soul and strength. The Bible tells us that no one has kept this commandment (Psalm 14:2-3). 103
