Arun Ferreira back in Bandra

After more than 4 traumatic years, 2012 got the Ferreira family together again in their ﬂat situated at St. Martin’s Road, Bandra (West). Early January saw a ray of hope for alleged Naxalite, Arun Ferreira, when he was free to go home to his family. It must have been a joy just being together, after all his never-ending experiences. When Bandra Buzz contacted his mother Yvonne, she replied, “Please let us spend some quality time together. Arun will be available for a press conference in a couple of days”. Arun Fereira is an ex-Stanislite, a Bandra boy who comes from a noble & religious family. All these years, his father Thomas, when visiting his son at Nagpur Central Jail, was only allowed to speak to him through bars, wire mesh and constant supervision. Arun used to tell him, “Daddy you know me. Do you believe what the police say about the crimes I committed? ”. At other times he told his dad that he has never been to the places where the police alleged that he has committed a crime. The charges framed have nothing whatsoever to do with him. He claimed total innocence The continuous and brutal initial interrogation, torture and narco-analysis have caused Arun much harm. The physical manifestations were headaches, hair loss and stomach-related ailments. With God’s grace, he survived all this to be re-united again with his supportive family. Gordon D’Souza, BCS President, says: “We support Arun Ferreira's petition for a compensation of

Rs. 25 lakhs for subjecting him to torture and depriving him of his freedom for close to five years. This is a small price considering the immense suffering he has undergone due to the wrongful confinement and torture by the police. At the end of it all, he is acquitted and we are sure he will be acquitted in the remaining two cases that were slapped on his recently. Someone has to pay a price for this. The Government has to take responsibility and pay the compensation”. Deepa, Tamseel, Surendran, Avijit and the Change.org team were estatic at his release. They proudly say: “We won! Arun Ferreira has just been released from jail and can finally enjoy freedom with his friends and family. Thanks to you, a human rights advocate that was jailed for standing up for the rights of people across India is free after four years in police custody. Father Cedric Prakash launched the campaign on Change.org just 3 months ago knowing that he was taking on state authorities that have locked up thousands of human rights activists in the past. But something incredible happened. More than 6,400 people joined the campaign on Change.org -politicians, prominent public figures and the St. Xavier’s college of Mumbai all backed the campaign, creating a groundswell of support that the authorities couldn’t ignore. The police had arrested Arun on ten false charges and were determined to keep him behind bars. But as public support for Ferreira grew, one

allegation after another was dropped by police. And just this week the court granted him bail, slapping a compensation charge of 25 lakhs on the state authorities over the wrongful arrest. Today, ﬁnally, Arun is home with his parents, wife and kids. After his release Arun sent through this message to all of you who signed the petition: “Thank you for your support, it feels good to come back home and eat mom’s home-cooked food.” Arun, the Ferreira family and Father Prakash will all be celebrating today -- and you should be too. You’ve demonstrated the extraordinary power of individuals to start campaigns about issues that matter to them -- unifying the community and winning change. It is an important victory -- not only for Ferreira, but because authorities have been watching this situation closely. 55th Maha Parinivan Day

On 6th December around 12pm (midnight) around 200 residents of Sheryl Rajan Road, Bandra gathered in front of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhimrao Baba Saheb Ambedkar statue to pay humble homage to their belowed leader - the great visionary and architect of the Indian constitution Dr. B.R Ambedkar. People garlanded the photo, lit candles in front of the the photo, kept two mins silence, followed by a Buddhist prayer service, with people chanting bhajans and hymns. The prayer service lasted for about an hour. After that most of the people proceeded towards Chaity Bhoomi at Shivaji Park (Dadar) where Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was

Muharram in Bandra

Muharram is observed very solemnly in Bandra in a very big way, with religious discourses (Majlis or Waaz) at different places, Tazias being kept and its procession being taken out. We interviewed Islamic Scholar Maulana Abid Bilgrami, who gave sermons to the largest gathering in Bandra at Rizvi College - and got some interesting insights about Muharram. Q: Why do Muslims Celebrate Muharram? A: Muharram is the ﬁrst month of Islamic calendar. Dev Anands Memorial Service

A memorial service for Dev Anand, who passed away following a cardiac arrest at the Washington May Fair Hotel in London at the age of 88 on December 3rd, was held at Mehboob Studio, Hill Road. His death came just months after the release of his last film 'Charge Sheet'. Mr Dev Anand was reportedly in London for a medical check up, at the time of his death. Dharam Dev Pishorimal Anand, better known as Dev Anand (born on 26/9/1923) died (3/12/2011) was an outstanding actor, writer, director & producer - well known for his work in Hindi cinema. Dev saab was offered the lead role in Prabhat films 'Hum ek Hain' (1946) a film about

Hindu-Muslim Unity. It was a full house at Mehboob studio in Bandra on Friday, as everyone who is someone from Bolly wood turned up to pay their last respect to actor Dev Anand. Actors like Hema Malini, Bobby Deol, Aamir Khan, Tina Ambani, Prem Chopra, Vinod Khanna and many more were present at the memorial. Condolences kept pouring in from all the corners of the world, with most of them remembering his positive attitude towards life. On the night of 18th December 2011, memories were both relieved and rekindled when over 350 ex- students from St Joseph’s Convent came together on their school grounds for a school reunion. The reunion which was organized by Sister Bindi - the school principal and others, saw ex-students of different age groups varying from 16 to 80 present in full attendance. The night began with a wonderful march pass where each student marched along with the ‘house’ they belonged to in school. There were four different houses and the head girls of yesteryear lead each of the houses as they marched across the school grounds. At the entrance of the school ground every ex student could pose for photos in cardboard cut outs of girl’s in the St Joseph’s uniforms. There was also a beautiful ‘look back’ at the school’s history through an array of photographs lined across the school walls. There was also a game stall that kept all those in attendance thoroughly entertained. The event was hosted by Jenny Martins and

Alison Dutt and their mixture of charismatic wit, along with a hint of naughtiness left all those present in splits. There were tons of activities lined up through the night from spot prizes for those ex-students that came to the event wearing their school badge to karaoke that everyone dutifully participated in. One of the most memorable moments of the night was when all those present, from the school principal to the ex-students joined together to sing their evergreen school anthem. Another strong point of the night was when Sister Ann Henrita enlightened all those present about the history of the school and how it was one of the ﬁrst educational institutions in Bandra. The night ended with a scrumptious dinner and as the ex-students were leaving the school each of them was ﬁlled with both embarrassment as they were reminded of what were they were in school and also a sense of excitement , for when the next re-union would take place. Time and again the majortiy of voters are migrants, who have their own interest while casting their votes. How can one varify if their names have been deleted from their home place. Dual voting isagainst the law. They vote for those who promise to perpetuate slums and illegal colonies. The middle class has made itself irrelevent politically. Politcal parties dont appeal to them. Cast you vote for the right candidate and restore Mumbai to its glory. It has become a city of corruption in every step you take.; A stringent law to punish the bribe giver and receiver with hefty ﬁnes and even jail terms, is the need of the hour. What is lawful in print must be executed. In these circunstances, are these elected representatives the real voice of the people? Guru Nanak Jayanti celebrations I came across the December, 2011 edition of Bandra Buzz - and I being a Sikh noticed the news bearing heading “Guru Nanak Jayanti Celebrations”. Firstly, I appreciate your effort to connect communities in Bandra and highlight the religious and social events of Bandra. I am sure you would agree with me that each religious following has its own traditions and articles of faith which must be correctly pronounced. In your writings under the above mentioned, you mentioned the words “From Left to Right Prayer Service – L to R – Mr. Kuldip Singh, Priest Gyani Arjun Singh Ji (with Broom) and a devotee” I am writing to you in relation to your mention ‘with broom’ which prompted me to advise and educate you, as I do not expect every non Sikh to know everything about the Sikh faith. As such, I need to point it out to you that the priest who is fanning “Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji” is doing so with a “ Chaur Sahib” and it is not called a ‘broom’. “Chaur Sahib ji” has a great respect and signiﬁcance in the Sikh religious tradition and as far as I know there is no English word for this. “Chaur Sahib ji” is a ‘Gurumukhi’ word, hence probably never been translated. It is my humble effort to point it out to you

for your future reference the correct word and I would be available to you, should you desire to have any clariﬁcations and assistance, while writing any article on Sikh traditions. Please do not misunderstand me as I am not doubting your or your staff's professional capabilities in their respective profession . Though I am not an expert on all the SIKH matters but being a Sikh I have read a lot on my traditions hence feel capable to an extent. I clearly know each and every thing about the surroundings of the area since I am just staying a house away from the shop mentioned by Mrs.Pauline Fernandes. She says that the shortcut to Uncle Tom's shop is from Our Lady of Vailankanni Grotto. She says that she is an old resident of the area, but it looks like she has lost her memory, If she says that she has stayed in the gaothan, has she forgotten that there was a lane behind the cross i.e. between 3 Rajan (Barny Villa) and 4 Rajan (now Noorie house). Also, if she says that it was a shortcut to Uncle Tom's house, as per what I know where she stays - the shorter way to go to Uncle Tom's shop is via Stardust building or from the by-lane of Gannet building and Sushi Cottage and not from Our Lady of Vaiankanni Grotto to Uncle Tom's shop. When she talks about Mr.Francis Gonsalves, she should also know that if he has campaigned to get down the illegal structures of the gaothan, he should see the illegal structures that he has built himself i.e. Edbern Clinic, 20ft I-Beam structure on which stands his water tank, the back Kitchen area encroached, the bike parking area, the Flower Bed which has narrowed the lane and above all this, he runs a Hostel which mostly he gives to foreign origin (females only). I just don't understand why Mrs.Pauline Fernandes is targetting Mr. Stephen Noronha and supporting Francis - who himself has done so many illegal things in and around his premises. Kapil Bhatia

Hurdles can be as small as the public information officer (PIO) not listing the name of the 1st appellate authority in an RTI reply. Shelar inaugurates NIJ Thanw Chowk

On 10th Dec 2011, Municipal Councillor Ashish Shelar inaugurated Nij Thanw Chowk at 9th Road, TPS III, Behind Oriental Residency,Khar (West). The founder Punya Dada Chellaram and more than 200 well-wishers were present for the event.

A Mega Medical Camp was organized by Nargis Dutt Memorial Charitable Trust along with Lions Clubs International Dist 323 A3 on Sunday 11th December, 2011 at Bandra Municipal Urdu School, Awami High School. The Chief Guest of the function was Shri Shri Gulam Nabi Azad, ( Hon’ble Union Health Minister) & Shri Suresh Shetty, (Hon’ble Minister for Public Health and Family Welfare, Maharashtra State). The camp was also attended by Shri Baba Siddique (MLA) Shri Kripashankar Singh (MLA), Shri Krishna Hedge (MLA) The camp consisted of various checkups like General, Blood Group, CBC, Eye, Dental,

Pediatric, Gynecologist, and ECG. Doctors from Sion and KEM Hospital also attended the camp. Dr. Zahra also conducted a few Oral Cancer detections on the patients that highly impressed Shri GHulam Nabi Azad. There were more than 1800 beneﬁciaries to the camp. It was observed that most of the patients were predominantly females suffering from Respiratory Disorders, Stomach Infections, Upper throat Infections. Improvement and construction of new Storm Water Drains, Footpaths and Asphalt Road has started at Kadeshwari Road. When I was contacted about a month back from students of Wilson College about an event they planned to host at Carter Road, I was overtly ecstatic.Living Outside The Closet (LOTC) is a Wilson College TYBMM initiative that looks to change a few mindsets towards the GLBT community. These third year students of Mass Media were to hold a musical concert to celebrate the right to live by your own sexuality. This was their second event, they’re ﬁrst being a PFlag (Parents, friends and family members) event at the IES Hall, Bandra, which looked to sensitize the family members (of gay and bisexual men and women) as well as people in general on various aspects of sexuality. The reason I was ecstatic was because there is no audience more perfect than that at Carter Road - and no matter the reason, they will always listen with an open mind and accept what is being said without a prejudice. The concert took place on the 23rd December and was attended by over 200 people. The concert included performances by the celebrated Wilson College band, beat boxer

AvinashTewari, Celebrate Bandra dance winners ‘Rhythm and Beats’, the screening of a promo of the ﬁlm “I AM” and a riveting performance by Meiyang Chang, Monali Thakur and Mohan Kannan (the lead singer of band, Agnee). However towering over all these performances was ‘one stand out moment’ that really resonated the true message that was being put across. It was a monologue by Tushar Matthew, one of the members of the group. What was so brilliant about this monologue was - not only did it both shock and awe those listening, it also got them thinking. This is an excerpt from the monologue “ I am different only because I go against your notion of what “normal” is. For that, I have a very simple solution. Change your notions” The students of Wilson College have a lot more planned in the month of January and judging by the direction this campaign has taken off in, its not long before the GLBT starts to get the respect they have long deserved. Artistic Expressions at Bandra Hindu Association

Artistic Impressions, the art class conducted by art co-ordinator and promoter Mrs. Hansa V Jessani held its annual Student Art Exhibition on Saturday, 10th December,2011 at the Bandra Hindu Association. The exhibition was inaugurated at 10am by Adv. Ashish Shelar and Mr. Ajeet Maniyal, secretary Bandra Hindu Association and the event went on till 8pm. The exhibition was truly a conﬁdence-building exercise planned for the students. It gave them all a platform to showcase their talent and creativity. All the exhibits were categorized, right from toddlers to school level courses and advanced hobby courses. Medals were given in every category,

Music is what life sounds like

All those present witnessed a vocal musical extravaganza, which began on November 10 and went on right up to November 13, 2011. What an opening night on the 10th with the Instrumental in Classical and Non-classical category! What an age range in participants from bubbly ﬁve year olds and above to those golden girls and boys in the 60s and above! What a treat for the music lovers! What musical virtuosos and maestros in the instrumental category and what maestros entertaining the audience with their melodies! The wide spectrum of lilting voices ranged from 8 to 60 years of age, and were divided into their respective age categories of 5-8, 911, 12-17, 18-39, 40-59 and 60 years and above. Every performance was a "KODAK" moment, which enthralled the audience, whose applause would make even an onlooker want to perform. The group singing on Day 3 was loved by all, as the costume and colour co-ordination added an extra special frill to the beautiful harmony. It was nice to see the young, the old and the middle-aged blend their voices to give off their best to see their zones win. The duet singing left our judges speechless, as they saw fathers and daughters singing soulfully among the many others that participated. One of the judges even suggested to the cultural committee that the duet group be divided into two categories so that the kids too would stand a chance to win in their category. The committee noted the suggestion and will make the necessary amendment from next year. It was a treat for one’s senses to see the little one’s in the age group of 5-8 years and 911 years perform on the last day and sing and pitch so beautifully with and without an accompanist. Our accompanists did a fabulous job of supporting our contestants on all days and for this we would like to thank them. Our panel of judges were faced with the herculean task of ﬁnding our winners. And a fabulous job they did. Their judgment was taken in good spirit and was something to be lauded. It was truly a proud moment for all our winners. Our judges also gave our participants critical appreciation at the end of each day and tips for improvement, which went down well with all. We thank them immensely. We cannot forget to mention our very ap-

preciative audience, who encouraged all our participants with deafening applause each time they went on and off stage, leaving everyone amazed and inspired by this showcase of great talent. The Cultural Committee is open to any suggestions that you may have and we rely on your feedback dear parishioners to make this Carmel Musical Contest better and better each year, so that we can give you a platform to showcase your God-given talent. Personally, having been a part of the Cultural Committee since its inception, I have seen this contest move from level to level to what it is now. It started off on a trial basis but now has emerged as one that parishioners look forward to each year. I am grateful to my fellow Cultural Committee members for their tireless efforts in making this contest a success. A big thank you to the Parish Fathers team for their constant support and presence on all days. It is encouraging to have our priests with us. Hearty Congratulations to all the winners and the winning zone. You make us proud and encourage us to keep doing better each year. Jai Mari Mata Palki

The Devotees of Jari Mari Mandir took out a procession (or carried Jari Mata) in a palki around Bandra. It is an annual Festival, in which Jari mari mata is dressed like a Queen, put in a plaki which devotees carry on their shoulder. Some devotees are dressed as soldiers and some as ministers, while the rest of the devotees sing bhajans praising their Queen mata. As history goes, around 300 years ago, a good part of Bandra Village (now known as Bandra) starting from Bandra station, Turner road, Waterﬁeld road, Hill road (Ramdas Nayak marg) was a big talao - not like how it is in the present. There were very few people staying in Bandra Village, comprimising mainly of Hindus (who were dhobis), Muslims (meat vendors/Horse carriage drivers) and Christians who were ofﬁce goers under the British rule. One day, after being pleased with the

prayers of its devotees, Jari mari mata is believed to be self-incarnated and immerged directly from Bandra talao in a stone form. Hence Jari Mari Mata is called the Gram devi (mother goddess) of Bandra.Thereafter people from different castes and creeds started worshiping her. Jari mari mata, when pleased grants devotees all their wishes and when she gets angry she punishes them. It is said that whenever you call Jari mari mata for help with faith in your heart, all your sickness, problems will be solved. Daily morning and evening Jari mari puja and arti takes place - and on a festival, full day Puja arti takes place in the Mandir. The signiﬁcance of this Jari mari mata palki is that devotees pray to their Gran devi for peace and happiness between different communities. Christmas celebrations at Jesus Calls

On Sunday 18th, Jesus Calls (Bandra) celebrated Christmas. The function began with a small prayer which was followed by skits related to Christmas themes presented by children. The youth had presented a superb skit and dance show. Finally, the elders and senior citizens presented a wonderful skit a birthday party was celebrated by people without giving much importance to the birthday boy. Brother Simeon and sister Tabassun (who translated) Brother simeon's sermon into Hindi, explained to the gathering of around 200 people the importance of the birthday skit theme as we all celebrate Christmas with lot of fanfare but we forget about our Lord Jesus Christ. Brother Simeon gave a beautiful sermon and told us all to open our heart, for the Lord Jesus is waiting to come in. He is the word, He is the Lord, through Him the world was created. He was born to save us all, He died for our sins and he resurrected again. Lord Jesus takes away all our problems, sick-

ness, loneliness and ﬁlls our life with love and happiness. Finally brother simeon announced that clothes would be distributed to about 200 poor children between the age group of 14 15yrs at the Jesus Call pray tower in Bandra on the 22nd between 5-7pm. Method Cook Trotters with 1st part ingredients for 2-3 hours adding a lot of water till trotters are tender & soft. Boil daal mash with little ginger garlic paste & mash it. Heat oil in a big pan. Add onion. Fry till light golden. Add ginger, garlic paste, haldi, red chillies. Fry adding little water. Add boiled daal mash & boiled trotters, salt. Cook it again on low heat for 1 hour. Sprinkle zeera powder. Garnish with coriander leaves, green chillies & ginger slices.

Mumbai Fully Booked a unique literary event Literature lovers were treated to a unique literature carnival last month at Mehboob Studios, Bandra. Mumbai Fully Booked, the Times of India’s literary carnival was a resounding success. Large crowds of Mumbaikars thronged this historic site on the first weekend of December. There were many established writers, first-time and would-be authors, media personalities, publishers and journalists present on these days. The attendees of these events basically wanted to catch a glimpse of their favourite authors and media personalities, and possibly even meet them. International and deshi celebrities included William Dalrymple, Ekta Kapoor, Mohammad Hanif, Chetan Bhagat, Vinod Mehta, Tarun Tejpal, Bachi Karkaria and Vikram Chandra. Many were keenly interested in the intellectual debates between the authors such as “Sex in the City” where four authors discussed stories of love and sexual relationships in Mumbai. Several high-profile book launches took place at this literary carnival including that of “Lucknow Boy”, an autobiography by Vinod Mehta and Meenal Baghel’s “Death in Mumbai” which provided a fresh perspective on the gruesome murder of Neeraj Grover, a young TV producer, and the controversies shrouding it. One of the highlights of the Mumbai Fully Booked carnival was the sparring debate between Chetan Bhagat and the Pakistani authors, Mohammad Hanif and Mohsin Hamid, on which of the sub-continental countries was better in the field of literature. The debate was as exhilarating as those close cricket encounters between the two rival nations. There was also a humorous yet tremendously insightful interview in which Vinod Mehta elaborated his views on the weird opportunistic relationships between politicians and journalists. Vinod Mehta’s funny anecdotes and in-your-face replies had the audience in splits. Evidence of the eclectic nature of this carnival could be clearly witnessed by the attendees who feasted on exotic dishes, viewed an amazing open door photo exhibition and participated in fun events like Achyut Palav’s expressive calligraphy workshop in which participants relished the awesome combination of calligraphy and music. Theresa’s Balcony Decor - A Unique Christmas Expression

We all have our unique creative streaks, in various fields of expression. And Theresa has her own too. Tucked away near Mehboob Studio, next to Goodluck Hotel is a balcony that has been the centre of attraction for neighbours & those passing by. Last week, our reporter happened to be passing and got a glimpse of her wonderful creation. On inquiry, she was invited by Theresa to visit her first floor residence at ‘Sunflower’. She obligingly told her how she always decorates her balcony for festivals of all communities - and just loves doing it.She regularly changes it. It makes her feel happy. She found that people who saw it felt happy too, when they passed by during their morning walk. Many of her admirers have positive comments about her balcony decor. This has encouraged her to innovate &

continue her hobby. Our reporter learned that she used to do a lot of wedding & home decor in her youth (her well kept home is enough proof). In fact, all decorations for family events were lovingly done by her. As our reporter’s rapport with her grew, she told her something about herself. Mrs. Theresa Henry D’Souza is an ex-teacher of St. Stanislaus K.G. Section, Bandra and ex-principal of Ravidani Nursery, Dadar. She enjoyed her teaching career - and used to accept wedding decor orders, doing it in her spare time. Here children have taken to art & craft. Rahil disappointed but takes it as learning experience

The overcast skies on a Sunday morning did not dampen the spirits of all race drivers and fans who had come to witness the finals of the JK Tyres Volkswagen Polo R Cup at the Madras Motorsports Race in Chennai. The previous day it rained heavily and a few areas around the race tracks were flooded with water, due to this the race officials shorten the race track to 2.1 kms thus giving due advantage to all drivers finishing faster to the checker line. Rahil Noorani was preparing to get ready and was looking forward to the big day in his career in taking home with him the Championship Trophy, with all due advantage of him being the leader in the championship position in the finals of the Volkswagen Polo R Cup Round 2 season. In the first round Rahil was maintaining a steady position all the way during the races but due to the shorten track the race was quicker and the cars came close to each other however in car no 15 driven by Capt. Ajay Kini who was behind him came bumper to bumper with his car to displace him off the track and this cost him much time to regain his position and lead in this round. Having been warned by the races officials after round 1 Capt Ajay Kini did not pay heed to the advice and once again closed into Rahil's car this time bumping his bumper off-guard for him to go to the pits and take it off thus resulting in precious time and points wasted in the final second round thus upsetting Rahil of winning the series he came 5th in the overall championship series. Though a very big disappointment for Rahil who was so close on winning this title he took it all in his stride. Rahil spoke to BandraBuzz after the races "The Final round of the Volkswagen Polo R cup has been possibly the biggest learning experience for me as a racing driver. ups and downs are a part of any

sport and only those who learn from their downs can excel in their field." "Being in the top 3 was an aim for me from the start itself. Securing my maiden pole position and race win in the 2nd round at Coimbatore really gave me a confidence boost." In total he had 3 race wins 2 second places and 1 third place finish. Almost the most amount of podiums after Vishnu Prasad from Chennai claimed the champinship trophy and his now all set to race in Germany with the Sicriocco Cup. Rahil said "I do hope to continue racing in the Polo R Cup next year and definately gun for the championship! Will need all my friends support and good wishes! Will give it my best for sure". Mr. Prithviraj Siddappa, Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India, said, “It has been a great season and the last race has been one of the most memorable ones, thanks to the presence of international drivers and veteran race driver Sunny Sidhu. The fact that the championship was not won until the last race made the Championship even more exciting. I would like to thank the efforts made by my whole team to make this a highly successful season.” Rahil is just back for SriLanka having taken part in a Night Racing event with the Volkswagen Polo R Cup cars, this was part of the Electric Peacock Festival held in Colombo last month the first of its kind held in the island country. Thanks to its proven concept of promoting young talent abroad, the Polo R Cup enjoys the reputation of being an ideal stepping stone to enter professional racing. In the first year METAMORPHOSIS event started on a lighter note with the ‘Comedy Festickle’, followed by ‘Celebrating Game Changers’. This year in 2011, MET IMM is celebrating India. The theme for the event is ‘Dil se India’ – global thoughts, Indian ways! An effort into understanding that sense of Indianness we retain and incorporate into our films, ads and all our communication despite being headto-head with most global superpowers. For instance, McDonalds’ the food giant introducing McAloo Tikki for the Indian market exemplifies how Indian we truly are! During this mega media fest METAMORPHOSIS – ‘Dil se India’. Over thirty events featured across three days, students participated in workshops, panel discussions, Marathi plays, live reportings, campaign designs, jingle creations and many more, with lots of excitement. It was an eclectic mix of over 30

pre-entry and on-ground events, 6 panel discussions and 3 workshops in the field of Advertising, Journalism and Entertainment. Over 400 students from across Mumbai participated in this media fest. The event was inaugurated by leading bollywood icon Mr. Ramesh Shippy, Mr. Boney Kapoor along with Mr. Chhagan Bhujbal, Chairman – Mumbai Educational Trust. On this occasion MET was graced by leading celebrities, personalities from the field of Advertisement, Journalism and Entertainment. On one hand stalwarts like Rohit Shetty, Anu Malik, Atul Kulkarni, Arti Jadhav, to name a few, from Bollywood added to the fest’s glory, on the other hand top notch professionals like Ali Merchant, Founder – Triton, Aman Mannan, Creative Director – Mudra Max, Ajay Jhala, CEO – BBDO, Dhunji Wadia, President – Everest Brand Solutions, Mahesh Gharat, SCD – Ogilvy, enlightened the audience on various mass media topics. The Grand Finale was concluded with a bang, the theme of the grand finale event was based on ‘NAVARASA’, which are the nine basic emotions of human beings – Shringara, Karuna, Haasya, Roudra, Bhayanaka, Bibhatsya, Adhbhuta, Veera and Shanta.
