SOUL PROJECT BAND

H

ailing all the way from the ‘Pearl of The Orient Seas‘, Philippines, the Soul Project Band has travelled to many countries and even continents for their passion of performing. More than just a band, they’re performers who puts their heart out as they sing from their soul. Ranging genres from R&B, motown, rock and reggae, there’s no song these guys couldn’t perform and deliver. Poncho, the band leader who also slam the drums, together with his close friends, Seng the keyboardist and John or Atik who slaps the bass are the only original band members left. They then formed a new band with the guitar slayer, Dennis and their lead singer Sayan together with the three beautiful ladies, Avon, Shera and Janna as the back-up vocalists. Close to eight years travelling and performing together, the members of Soul Project Band are not just a bunch of close friends, they are a family, looking out for each other as they go along. Before coming back to perform in Kota Kinabalu, they’ve travelled together to Dubai, China, Taiwan, Singapore and Japan. Their tireless effort is inspired by their family back in the Philippines. Though they travel a lot to perform in foreign places, they always try to go back to their motherland and visit their families there.

Their phylosophy of working and staying in the same band for such long time is ‘compromise, love your work and the people you’re working with‘. But, they’re not all work and no fun. When it comes to their free time, their way of having fun is by eating. Hawker stalls are their favourite, because not only is it affordable, but it’s also undeniably good. Not limited to eating, they also go out to see other bands performing at other clubs and bars and drink as they have some fun, taking the stress from their mind. Their ultimate goal, is to continue doing what they’re passionate about, singing for the people who are clapping. They want to travel to lots of other places and see the world as they gain more experience. Everytime they leave a place, they want to leave a mark for people to recognize and appreciate them.
