Tiger Spirit Day:
T
he Big CATs (Community Action Team) Club ECA took on their first challenge by asking a variety of teachers about their favourite memories and feelings on Tiger Spirit Day. To help promote this event, the Big CATS went in search of answers. Fifteen students, ranging from Year 3 to 6, set out on this task armed with their clipboards, papers, pencils and iPads. The teachers interviewed were Mr Murgatroyd, Mrs Houghton, Mrs Murgatroyd, Miss Kerry and Mr Gosling. What does Tiger Spirit Day mean to you? Mr Murgatroyd - “Tiger Spirit Day is a wonderful celebration, it’s a time when everyone can get together. Younger children get to bond with older children. It’s good for everyone.” Miss Kerry - “Tiger Spirit Day means to me that you are really proud to be in Bangkok Patana School.” What are your fondest memories of Tiger Spirit Day? Mrs Murgatroyd - “The assemblies were such fun to watch and take part in. The assemblies were definitely the best part of Tiger Spirit Day.” Miss Kerry - “My best memories of Tiger Spirit Day are when we get together with other Year groups and when we get to do things with them. This helps us remember why are we so lucky at Bangkok Patana and others that are less lucky. I even like volleyball matches!” Mr Gosling - “I like it when I see my Year 5 classes go down to Year 1 and work together.” How did Tiger Spirit Day come about? Mr and Mrs Murgatroyd both said “Tiger Spirit is the main part of Tiger Spirit Day. It makes us all proud to be part of the Bangkok Patana School family.” Mrs Houghton - “The student council wanted better school spirit and they all decided what the school should have and they came with a tiger. Students get dressed up in orange and black because they are the colours of a tiger.” What are good activities for Tiger Spirit Day? Mr Murgatroyd - “Treasure hunts, assemblies and being together. It’s not all about dressing up like tigers!” Mrs Houghton - “Activities at break time and lunch time, about cake sales and concerts.” It’s gonna be a GRRREAT day! Look out for lunch time concerts, bake sales and team sports. We look forward to seeing all of you in your Tiger gear! This year, different Year groups are being paired up to do activities. Get into the Tiger Spirit! Please remember to bring in your 100 THB to donate to charity and wear your orange and black clothing.
RROAARR! All proceeds will go to children’s charities in Thailand (further details will be sent out after the event). Please note: The correct date for Tiger Spirit Day is Friday 3rd October.
Have you registered for the Bangkok Patana Fun Run yet?
Transport Corner Afternoon buses will depart from the school car park 15 minutes after the finish of school/ECA, or earlier if everyone scheduled for the bus arrives promptly. Please do not delay getting to your afternoon bus otherwise you may find that the bus has gone and your parents may need to be contacted to come and collect you from school. When parents/students do not cancel their afternoon bus home it causes unnecessary waiting time on the bus for other bus users. Every day there are approximately ten Secondary students who do not inform transport that they have made alternative arrangements home. Please help to reduce this number by asking your parents to contact the Transport Department if you are not going home on the school bus. Remember that any changes to a student’s ECA schedule must be communicated to Transport. Don’t forget there will be no school transport tomorrow, Friday 19th September – school is closed for students and academic staff!
