Parents’ Competitive Sports Survey P.2 Bangkok Patana is an IB World School, accredited by CIS and NEASC
Cross Campus Extra-curricular Activities and Sports Welcome to Super SEASAC at Bangkok Patana School. This weekend we are hosting the largest ever SEASAC event with 69 teams from six countries, 648 students and 134 coaches participating in Touch, Rugby, Tennis and Basketball all here at Bangkok Patana. This is what we are all about: Creating well balanced student athletes who are prepared for success. In November, we sent out a survey to parents in
both Primary and Secondary schools. We had a very healthy response with 287 families responding. The purpose of the survey was to gauge our parents’ level of satisfaction with the Competitive Sports programme at Bangkok Patana School. We wanted to hear from you so we can find out what we are doing well, what we’re not doing well and if the direction of the programme is meeting your child’s needs. We would like to share the results with you.
Parents want our programme to be successful however the majority who responded do not want a “win at all costs” approach. Respondents feel that creating well balanced students is the priority. 76% of respondents feel that the programme helps to fulfil their child’s potential.

With regards to coaching, parents feel that more specialised coaching is preferred but BPS staff need to be involved as English competence is a priority.
90% of parents want this to continue and even expand.
According to respondents, areas that we need to be better at are: Communicating our Sports Handbook to parents Communicating key information about fixtures Differentiation in training Generating more school spirit, including more parents attending fixtures There was lots of great feedback and comments written by parents. We certainly value what you
have told us and we will look at ways to incorporate your ideas into our programme. A big thank you to all parents who responded and we certainly hope to see you supporting our BPS teams at this weekend’s Super SEASAC tournaments at BPS.
