LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
Adieu for Now
One thing for certain is that we will always face change. We strive so hard to create a life we desire and then realize we must let go of the old to make room for the new. You’ve heard the saying, “Two things can’t occupy the same space.” Well, I have just experienced these growing pains. I have been a health coach since 2007. The first year was wonderful. I know I don’t have to tell you what 2008 was like. Then in 2009 I relocated to Florida and left what clients I had, up north. Ah, the pain of starting over! Writing has been a very big part of the rebuilding. I have written a cookbook, workbook and of course you have seen me here as the Chief Editor for Banzai. I am happy to say my business has recently exploded. Now that I have added catering on top of my cooking classes I do not have time to write anymore. I am sure my book writing coach would disagree, but meeting deadlines for any publication is not feasible. It really has been an honor to share this time with you, our dedicated readers. I have met the most wonderful people and made some lifelong friendships along the way. I also want to publicly express my gratitude to Meric the publisher for giving me the opportunity. Although, Chief Editor is a “job” more than I can currently handle, I am sure you will see me from time to time as a contributing editor and at the many wellness events in the area. So I must bid you adieu for now. Please continue supporting our amazing advertisers and enjoy reading our helpful articles. Thank you for your interest and support.

PILLARS TO A LONG LIFE:
Primary Food, Movement, Mental Management, and Clean Space
_
ife span has almost doubled in the USA in one century. Many of us have seen our older friends or family having a longer life, but not necessarily a better quality life. We naturally want to have a golden time in our golden years. There are many diets and many guesses on how to live longer and better. What we do know seems to be a bit of common sense and an observation of centurions.
Primary foods are whole complete foods unprocessed and unmodified. For thousands of years our bodies knew what to do with them. Simply having half your plate filled with dark green vegetables daily can do wonders for your digestion, sleep, energy, and bowel movements. Almost every body feels better after two weeks of this. Switching from processed foods to water can help your body run the way it was designed. There are studies that show simply removing diet soda can help you lose weight.
Moving water does not become stagnant nor does the human body. Our body has the need to move regularly. Cultures that walk live longer. keeping the body moving daily helps regulate our bowels, mind, lymph, lungs and heart. Pick

Cameron Bishop DAOM. L.Ac. a movement you like and live longer. My healthiest older patients are always walkers.
The most stressed patients I have do not think they are stressed. It has become their norm to be in a constant state of tension. We are simply more productive, healthy and happy if we manage our mental state. If meditation works for you, that is great. I have many patients come in and say that meditation does not work for them. It almost seems that they are going to the gym for the first time in preparation to move their entire house the next day. Meditation needs to be practiced before hand so we have it when we need it. For many people, walking, swimming, and alone time can be very relieving. There is nothing quite like a walk on the beach. There are studies that show stress relief, better energy and, better sleep from simply standing barefoot outside everyday! Stress makes everything worse, so get rid of it!
I had an instructor come in with a weight and scales. She would talk about an environmental influence, poor food, lack of exercise and each time she mentioned something throughout the lecture she place a candy on one side of the scale. Eventually, the scale tipped and went out of balance. It is the same with your body, which you
only get one. Enough poor decisions, and you eventually tip your health in the wrong direction. But here is the good news: living in the manner our body was designed to run will actually make you feel better in every way. Don’t add a list of rules. Just add good stuff: clean food, good water, fun movement in a space you want to be.

Back to School Eye Exams: When 20/20 doesn’t Cut It
By Dr. amanda Weiss, Optometrist
It’s that time of year again. Back-ToSchool-Physicals! You’re at the Pediatrician’s office, and your child just read the smallest line on the eye chart and passed the vision screening. So his vision is normal and he doesn’t need glasses right? Not necessarily… Here are some reasons why a vision screening is not enough when it comes to safeguarding the health of your child’s eyes and normal visual function.
far-Sightedness Let’s start with two terms that are commonly used and confused: Near-sighted and Far-sighted. Near-sighted means the vision is generally better at near than it is at far. Far-sighted means the vision is generally better at far than it is at near. Children who are near-sighted are easily spotted at a vision screening. They’re unable to see the eye chart posted across the room. But what about the children who are far-sighted? Could they pass a vision screening and read the 20/20 line at a distance? Absolutely, and they most often do, fooling the most astute physician and attentive parents. Children (and adults) with far-sightedness can read the bottom line of an eye chart at a distance, and can often read small lines of text when tested, but the muscles in their eyes are doing a lot of work to accomplish this. Imagine yourself sitting at a desk, for an 8-hour workday, and the entire time you’re working, you are holding a 10 lb. weight in your right hand. Certainly, by the end of the day, your arm would be achy and tired, your attention would wane, and eventually, you would have to set the weight down, right? This is exactly what happens to the muscles in the eyes responsible for bringing vision into focus. In a child with far-sightedness, the muscles in the eyes tire, relax, and the eyes lose focus after prolonged reading and even distance activities in the classroom. Now imagine you’re 9 years old, and you’re trying to read a chapter in your science book and then answer questions about what you read. All the while, the words on the page are moving, going in and out of focus, and you feel sleepy. How frustrating! But this is how everyone else sees right? Binocular Vision And then there are the other muscles in the eyes, the ones that control eye movements, ensuring that both eyes are pointed in the same direction. You would notice if one of your child’s eyes was turned significantly inward or outward, but you wouldn’t notice if both eyes were not directed precisely at the same letter in a word. This type of misalignment can make reading and homework extremely challenging. Eye Health What about that dilated eye exam is so important? The eye has blood vessels in it, just as does every other part of the body. However, in every other part in the body, skin or other tissue covers those vessels; in the eye, they’re naked! Diabetes, elevated cholesterol, blood disorders, and vascular anomalies are all visible in the eye. Allergy and autoimmune conditions can also manifest in the eyes. There are many sight-threatening conditions that can easily be spotted in that first full eye exam. In the absence of symptoms, and even in the case of children who pass a vision screening, all children should have their first full eye exam by age 5, and sooner should parents suspect a problem. School performance, self-confidence, personality and overall behavior can all be affected by visual disorders.

THE GIFT OF HEALTH. LIVE IT. FEEL IT. SHARE IT. Jennifer Strickland’s Boresha story: My unexpectedly aMaZing morning.
Remember this number -> 96. It will make sense at the end. I went to meet a friend and her husband this morning. I had not met her husband before. He works in Maryland. He has diabetes and has to take insulin shots daily. He has been drinking the Boresha coffee and tea for 5 months. He recently got a call from his doctor asking why he hasn't been filling his insulin prescription as often. He has been able to go from 40 units of insulin twice a day to only 18 units! Over a 50% reduction! He said that he is saving $60 per month on medication. He is also saving $300 a month that he was spending on Starbucks coffee. Plus, he said he went one day without the Boresha coffee and felt horrible. He has amazing energy and will not go one day without Boresha. Then he tells me about his 16 year old nephew with Type1 Diabetes. He weighed 250 and had an A1C level of 9. At that age with those levels there is a most certain reduced lifespan. He has been drinking the coffee and tea and in 3 months
has dropped 40 pounds and his A1C level is now only 6. ...Let me explain what that means. At 6 or below you are considered NON-DIABETIC! So he has gone from being diabetic to NONDIABETIC with Boresha products. And... he has a hope he has never had before. He is so excited and enjoying life more than ever. To hear these two testimonies today...To know that I helped make that happen...I cried tears of joy. 96: My goal is to help 100 people have life changing results with Boresha products. More than just shedding pounds (which I already have plenty of those). I am talking about helping people get off diabetes medication. reversing fibromyalgia symptoms, reversing diabetes, going from medically diabetic to non-diabetic, adding many healthy years to someones life and giving people hope they have never had. I now have 4 people who fit into these categories. Just 96 more to go. This is why my passion for Boresha is UNSHAkABLE!
WE ALL LOvE COFFEE, TEA, SODA'S & SUGAR. TRY OUR NEW "DIABETIC FRIENDLY" PRODUCTS. ALL "LOW GLYCEMIC" SO WILL HELP LOWER BLOOD SUGAR, INCREASE ENERGY & BURN FAT! ASk FOR MORE DETAILS.

REALTOR BURNOUT
s a real estate agent, sometimes it feels like you always have to be on the go, always working, always available, always doing something, anything because for all you know there’s someone else out there burning the midnight oil. What’s the worst that could happen to someone who’s always on the go? Certainly, they make a lot of money, right? They’re outperforming and outselling everyone else in the office, right? So what happens when that candle you’ve been burning at both ends finally runs out? Well, it burns out. One of the first casualties of burnout is the passion and enjoyment for what you exhausted yourself on, real estate in our case. Without realizing it little by little our efforts become less and less effective. We all know a miserable and tired agent is one not listing and selling properties. So how do you go about preventing a real estate burnout? Here’s a list of suggestions.
1. Systematize every aspect of your business. Without systems there would never be enough time to get it all done. Give yourself the ability to work more efficiently! Systems will allow you to improve communication with every segment of your business. This should be priority #1. 2. Reclaim a sense of balance in your life. Dedicate time to be spent with family, friends, and to enjoy a personal life. That’s what we’re working for in the first place, right? To have the ability and freedom to enjoy our lives! 3. Create a daily work schedule for yourself. For many agents this provides some needed discipline to get tasks done and to know at what time their work day starts and ends. Without a well-defined schedule you may feel guilty about spending time away from work. This guilt drives many back to the office. Without a schedule balance would be impossible for many! 4. Schedule a daily workout in your daily plan. Exercise is a great source of energy and mental refreshment. Without health there could be no wealth! 5. Delegate as many of your responsibilities as you can. Hire an assistant or a transaction coordinator such as myself. You can't do it all yourself nor should you. 6. Prioritize your daily tasks. Make sure that the most important and difficult ones are completed first every day. 7. Eliminate time-wasting chores. See how much you can purge from your daily activities. Replace wasteful actions with productive tasks. 8. Make building your individual brand recognition a priority. By being the most recognized agent in the area, clients will seek your services and you can spend less time chasing new customers. 8. Develop a system to anticipate problems before they materialize. A problem resolved in its infancy saves hours of solving a much bigger crisis later on. 10. Set aside an hour a day to work on your business not in your business. Analyze and improve your business plan and systems. It might take some time to implement these changes into your business. When some are taken, I suspect that these changes will not only allow you to enjoy your life, they will also dramatically improve your production! HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR CREDIT-WORTHINESS
F
irst and foremost, beware of "Credit repair clinics" that claim they can remove negative information from your credit file. These claims are often false , and sometimes illegal. The truth it takes patience and discipline to re-establish credit. And, you can accomplish this on your own without enlisting the help of others and spending money that you don't have. . keep in mind, when making a credit decision, a bank utilizes the "Five C's" that are the basic components of credit analysis: Character, Capacity, Capital, Conditions, and Collateral. Lenders utilize these components to determine the credit worthiness of potential borrowers. The credit core of “Character” is willingness to pay. While good credit is one of the C's banks looks for when evaluating loan requests, unfavorable credit is rarely negotiable, unless negative or inaccurate information is disputed and resolved. Frankly, it is one of the most challenging C's to establish! Below are some tips( top 5 in my book) to help you improve your score and afford you the opportunity to secure a loan with a financial institution: 1- Pay your bills on time-If you are struggling, call and arrange for a payment plan. 2- Pay down your balances on credit cards(revolving)-It will boost your score substantially 3- Do not close old/unused accounts- This will lower your credit score. 4- Do not max out your credit cards-keep your balances below 30% of your credit limit 5- Get a secured credit card-This can improve your score
Last but not least: When was the last time you checked your credit? Inspect and Correct if needed. You may obtain a free credit report at: http://www.annualcreditreport.com/. Make sure you examine the 3 credit reporting agencies: Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian. Finally, Think like a Lender! Do you need help with your writing? No time to say the right words in the right key? Poor grammar skills? Tired of paying high fees? Résumés, cover letters, business and personal letters, marketing letters, bios, letters of recommendation, invitations, proof-reading, editing and translation.

or nearly 3,000 years, well into the Chinese, Indian, and Greek civilization massage therapy has been practiced. Multiple modalities over the years have treated the elite Egyptians, Chinese Emperors, Greek nobles, and Indian Priests. Hippocrates taught physicians the effects and benefits to rub, as a method to alieviate pain, and promote healing. In the Indian culture, Ayurvedic medicine utilizes massage therapy to treat and heal many medical conditions. Western medicine over the years has grown to treat illnesses of both physical and psychological nature with medications, and other breakthrough technology, yet, historically, the art of massage has been known to treat many physical and psychological conditions hundreds, if not thousands of years ago.
The world in which we live today, is full of stress in and around us. Our lives are in perpetual motion. There are many demands from children, work, extended families, financial worries, and poor diet. Consider the overstimulation of the internet, cell phone, and instant media blips constantly leeching our energy and attention. By not treating our bodies well, through a solid healthy diet, and routine exercise, add to stress quotient. The answer, incorporate massage into your life! Make it a part of a monthly tune-up. We cannot run our vehicles, unless we service them routinely. Lack of maintenance causes unreliability and increase expense in the long run. Why treat yourself any less. Finding a good wellness center and a regular massage therapist will improve your overall health and well-being in the short and long run. The benefits of health and emotional “feel goods” will have added perks of weight loss, increased stamina, sleeping better, greater endurance, and improved overall mood. Think of it as a preventative medicine. Why not try it? Get on a wellness maintenance program for you today!

Donna and Steve Wiley and their dog Benji.
“BEnJi” at VillagE MuSiC “Benji” is a parti-color white and orange Pomeranian, on duty at village Music, 1066 Forest Hill Blvd in Wellington. He’s two, and was there to greet customers when this family business opened it’s doors November 12, 2012. Muted guitar riffs and a drum solo waft from the lesson rooms at the rear of the store, but Benji pays no attention. He’s there to welcome customers, especially children, who immediately seek him out when entering. “Benji loves everyone,” says store owner Donna Willey. He knows when I’m getting ready to leave for work. In the morning, he’s already primed, as he’s been with me in the bathroom, knows all about the routine. The final straw is when I pick up my bag and keys, and then he goes crazy.” She and husband Steve are amazed at the affinity that the little dog has with kids. Donna says that “after lessons, as kids wait to be picked up, Benji amuses and keeps them engaged and happy.” I ask, “What is his official job title?” “Hmmmm,” (Donna ponders for a few moments.) “I think it should be ‘Child Care Director and Coordinator.’” I found that this guy is extremely cute and appealing, and visitors are encouraged to stop in and admire him anytime the store is open.
