Application guide

A lifetime of care Since 1944, BaptistCare has been caring for people. We are proud of our centres, our grounds and our activities - but most of all, we are proud of our community. This is what makes BaptistCare special. We are a community of people who respect one another’s independence and individuality, while understanding the importance of support and friendship. As a Christian not-for-profit organisation, our focus is outstanding care and a quest to truly make a

difference. This extends to our work in community housing, support for women and children escaping domestic violence and commitment to assisting people in need throughout the community. You can be sure we are passionate about life-transforming care because we practise it every day, in countless ways. This is the BaptistCare difference. We’re here, Because we care.

Your life at Carey Gardens MyTeam MyTeam is all about improving quality of life. It is care that focusses on connecting with you, knowing your story and supporting you to live a meaningful life. Residents, families and consistent team members are all partners in MyTeam. This means the same group of team members provide personal care for the same residents, every day they work. Each team will be better placed to understand the needs and preferences of those residents in their care, so they can support their choices.

Lifestyle At any age, it’s important to have meaning and purpose, and to have fun. Our lifestyle coordinators create varied activity calendars to help you stay both physically and mentally active, including exercise programs, crafts, games, live entertainment, outings, concerts and celebrations for special occasions. There’s something for everyone.

Life at Carey Gardens can be as peaceful or as lively as you make it. A close-knit community, there’s always someone ready for a chat. If you’d prefer some quiet time, you can always take a book from our library or relax in one of the many gardens; the grounds are particularly lovely during the autumn months when leaves take on an amber colour. When you want to go out, there are shops, clubs and churches nearby.

Dining You’ll love the meals our chef prepares and your friends and family are always welcome to join. There’s BBQ and family entertaining areas, perfect for celebrating life’s special moments and our hairdresser can help you to look your best for the occasion.

Caring for you Your dedicated Care Team Manager will meet with you and your family to plan how we will support your choices, preferences and needs. You’ll have access to a range of health professionals onsite, with registered nurses on duty 24/7. Rest assured, we will be there to provide the care you need when you need it. Dementia care We are able to support clients living with dementia, with a focus on promoting well-being and independence, and what brings meaning and purpose to the lives of each individual. Your care team partners will provide care that is flexible, compassionate and responsive to the needs of each and every resident.

Your team Our highly-skilled team provides customer-focussed, personalised care. We draw upon a range of people and professions to ensure the care you receive is of the highest quality. As a valued member of our community, we want you to feel comfortable, safe and happy at all times. We never get tired of doing the little things; because we know the little things can make the biggest difference. From our cleaners, to carers and managers, right through to our CEO, we do what we do, Because we care.

4

Palliative care Using our ‘Affirm, Balance, Comfort’ approach, we discuss your choices with you and your family on admission and throughout your stay. This allows us to adapt your care plan to suit your changing needs and brings great comfort to you and your family, as everyone will clearly know and be involved in decisions around end of life care. Chaplaincy care As a Christian not-for-profit organisation, our purpose is to respect and care for you. That’s why our chaplains are here to support you through life’s challenges and experiences, whatever your beliefs and however you express your spirituality. They’ll spend time getting to know you, offer friendship, and be there to support you in times of need.

Surrounded by greenery, BaptistCare Carey Gardens has a feeling of serenity, with a mix of homeliness and friendliness which you will notice the moment you walk through the door. We have 65 general care rooms, many of which have garden views and direct garden access. 5
