Moving to the new apartments complex 1 p.m on Wednesday early afternoon. B and C ran along the hill that led to this new building, they had an appointment to visit some of the apartments with the real estate agent. They greeted each other with a kiss, exchanging a look full of confidence and expectations. For so many monthsthey have been looking for the new house where they could finally settle down and maybe start their life togethere, but time passed and they couldnn’t find the perfect house to make their own, and their small apartment in the center of Salzburg was becoming even more unconfortable...

The agent showed them two apartments, they were very similar but they both had a singular balcony or different window that would frame the city landscape. But still, that balcony on the 9th floor was in their mind, and although they were both perfect, both, really potentially perfect, it wasn’t the one. They continued to nod, both aware of their disappointment. It always happened like this, he only had a look of understanding, it still was not right...

After returning home from work he tried to clear out his mind from those busy days, it was the day of their anniversary, and this deserved all of the focus. He arrived to pick her up at her place. As soon as she opened the door her enthusiasm for the night overwhelmed him, “They told me about this new restaurant I cannot wait to go there”. The restaurant seemed overpriced, but he could only care to to see the bright smile that was lighting her face. The waiter welcomed the two on the front door and led them to their table along the staircase that connected the two main floors: they looked as two terraces hanging from above, settling them selves inbetween the main concrete structure that looked as a forest of pilars and beams...

But his thoughts where running all over the head, who knows what he was thinking, it seemed that she was speaking to herself sitting around this little round table, where at their right a corner of Salzburg was framed in this glass façade. Suddenly he glimpsed downstairs the kitchen covered by a glass structure in which the famous chef and the other cooks waved with feverish coordination. he watched from above, as if they were performing a culinary performance behind that glass. She continued with her chatter which now He could only understand disconnected words, which he was able to respond with vague relevance. So once again he began to stare at that detached world inside the kitchen...

Now he saw more clearly a small spiral staircase inside the kitchen, He asked himself where this stair was leading, imagining some kind of secret door descenting into the womb of the earth . Everything attracted his attention in that place which the warm atmosphere enveloped him completely. He stood there looking at it, then the phone rang and he read the text message: she wasn’t able to come to the conference. He started walking again toward the lobby, now resignedly, he took one of the two mirrored stair, until it reached a quiet terrace facing the mountain where he decided that he would wait the beginning of the conference.
