Imagine!

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether they are thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created by Him and for Him.

C olossians 1:16 skjv

God, the great Creator, made the earth and the universe. He made everything you can see with your eyes and invisible things you can only imagine. God made you to be like Him, to share some of His characteristics. He gave you the ability to think and to come up with great ideas. He gave you special skills and talents—things you are good at—so you can share your ideas with the world. Do you enjoy writing and drawing? Maybe you express your thoughts through music or dance. Are you good at crafts and making things? Every time you imagine something, plan something, and put those ideas to use, you are using God’s gift of creativity. Everything on earth was either created by God or by God’s people using their special talents and skills.

Child of God

See what great love the Father has for us that He would call us His children. And that is what we are.

1 j ohn 3:1 nlv

God made you, and He loves you. Even before He created you, God planned your family. He gave you a mom and a dad, grandparents, and maybe some siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins. God gave you ancestors—a long line of relatives stretching as far back in history as you can imagine. God made you to be part of His family too. He says you are His precious child. God is the best and most amazing Father. You can count on Him to always have time for you, to love, help, guide, and protect you. Even when you are very old, God will think of you as His child, His special girl. As a child of God, you should do your best to obey Him and live in ways that please Him. But if you mess up sometimes, that’s okay. God understands, and He will always forgive you.

Genealogy is the story of your family’s history. Many people enjoy studying their family lines as a hobby. They like finding out more about family members who lived long ago. Talk with your parents and grandparents about your family’s history. Ask them what it was like to be the age you are right now.

Who gets to be in God’s family?

What did you learn from 1  John 3:1 ?

Wonderful, Amazing Me

For You made the parts inside me. You put me together inside my mother. I will give thanks to You, for the greatness of the way I was made. . . . Your works are great and my soul knows it very well.

P salm 139:13–14 nlv

God made you exactly the way He wanted you. You are His creation. Everything God makes is perfect in His sight and wonderful. When you look in the mirror, God wants you to see yourself as perfectly and wonderfully made. He made you beautiful inside and out, and He wants you to love yourself just the way you are. God made you so He could love and care for you. He wants you to love and care for yourself too. Treat yourself with loving-kindness. If you look in the mirror and have thoughts that your hair is a mess or that your face has too many freckles or that your teeth aren’t perfectly straight, turn your thinking around. Get in the habit of seeing yourself as the lovely, special girl God made you to be.

Dear God, I am so much more than what I see on the outside. You put a beautiful, caring heart inside me. You filled it up with special qualities that make me unique. I am loving, kind, funny, smart, creative, giving, and strong. . . .
