THE BARCO FIT GUIDE THE BARCO FIT
HOW TO MEASURE
Barco knows the importance of flexibility, movement and comfort. That’s why we’re known for “The Barco Fit,” an approach to design and sizing, perfected over time, that ensures that your uniform fits and flatters.
Take all measurements over undergarments using standard measuring tape.
Chest:
Place measuring tape under the arms and measure the distance around the shoulder blades and the fullest part of the bust/chest. Hold measuring tape in a relaxed, straight line. Do not hold the tape too tight.
Waist: Measure around your torso at your natural waistline. Hip: Stand with feet a few inches apart and measure around the fullest part of your hips. Inseam: Wearing shoes, measure form crotch to where you want your pants to end at your ankle/foot. Typically, pants’ inseams end at the top of the shoe just above the heel.

EMERGENCY CARE GREASY SPOTS (ie. salad dressing, fat, oil or cream): Pretreat with a liquid detergent or spot remover. RUST: Requires a commercial rust remover. PROTEIN BASED SPOTS: (ie. milk, cheese, ketchup or mustard): Add per-soak to the wash water before adding the uniform. Garment should be given a cold water soak, then a normal wash. GREEN VEGETABLES, TEMPERA PAINT, BEETS, COLOR BLEEDING, SOFT DRINKS CONTAINING DYE, CHERRIES, BLUING CARROTS, FELT TIP PEN INK, MUSTARD: Fabric powdered bleach and water. If stain does not come out, try a solution of liquid chlorine bleach (if it is fabric safe). Garment should then be put through normal wash.
DEODORANT: Apply heavy duty liquid detergent, then wash in warm water. Aluminum or zinc salt build-ups may be impossible to remove. PERSPIRATION: Apply heavy duty liquid detergent or soak in warm water with a presoak product or 15-30 minutes before putting in a normal wash. BALLPOINT INK: Spray with hair spray, then flush with water. Put in normal wash as quickly as possible. OTHER FOOD OR BEVERAGE SPILLS: Dip a napkin in club soda and sponge the spot. LEAD PENCIL: Lift excess off with art-gum eraser without hard rubbing. Apply prewash aerosol product and rub in heavy duty detergent. Rinse in warm water, then put through a normal wash. RUST: Requires a commercial rust remover. CARBON TYPEWRITER RIBBON, PINE RESIN, CANDLE WAX, TAR, FURNITURE POLISH, LIPSTICK, EYE MAKEUP, CARBON, PAPER, FLOOR WAX, SHOW POLISH, CRAYON: Dry cleaning solvent is to be sponged or sprayed on before rubbing gently with heavy duty liquid detergent for oily or waxy stains. Bleach solutions safe for the fabric is used to treat dye stains. Garments then given normal wash.

KFC UNIFORM GUIDELINES – MAKING A GOOD IMPRESSION SHIRTS | MAKE THE COLONEL PROUD
Keep the chicken hot & fresh and your shirts nice & clean. That means free from stains, rips or wrinkles. HELPFUL TIPS TO KEEP YOUR SHIRTS CLEAN: · Disposable Aprons: During morning prep and/or end‑of‑shift cleanup, wearing disposable aprons is a great way to keep your uniforms free of hard to remove stains.
PANTS | KEEP IT CLASSY
Black pants are the preferred pant option, however, black or blue jeans are also permitted if approved by your manager. If approval has been given to wear jeans, please make sure your jeans do not have any rips, tears, stains, bleach spots or patches.
SHOES | THE PERFECT PAIR
· Aluminum Pans: The most difficult stains to remove come from greasy aluminum pans, so always remember to keep the aluminum pans off of your belly and away from your uniforms.
When I slip, you slip, we slip, and we all know that it can get a bit slippery in our KFC kitchens. That is why it is absolutely critical to wear a good pair of slip‑resistant shoes. P.S. Black looks best!

In addition to keeping your shirts nice & clean, your new uniforms are designed to be tucked in to give you a more professional look. And don’t worry, we made sure to make them long enough so they stay tucked!

KFC UNIFORM GUIDELINES (Continued) NAME BADGES | HEY YOU!
People love to know the name of the person who is serving them, so make sure to always remember to wear your name badge and to keep it clearly visible; preferably on your shirt.
JEWELRY | THE GOLD STANDARD
Hair is great, but not if it gets in our food. So be sure to keep your hair clean, well-maintained and restrained if it’s shoulder length or longer. And if you have a beard, please make sure to wear a beard net while handling food. Mustaches and Colonel-inspired goatees must also be covered if required by local regulations.
This one’s kind of a mouthful, so let’s just dive right in. For rings, one per hand. For wrists, a small bracelet or watch is all good. For necklaces, keep them tucked into your shirt. For ears, up to two sets of small earrings are permitted, but please no large hoops or dangling earrings. And as previously mentioned, visible piercings such as nose and tongue piercings and gauges larger than a dime are not permitted. Finally, when preparing food, remove all jewelry from your arms and hands. Wedding rings can remain, but please make sure to use disposable gloves. Phew … that’s all!

HAIR | HEADS UP
The Colonel has always been pretty strict on this one. Absolutely no form of tobacco (smoking, chewing, e-cigarettes, etc.) is allowed in the restaurant or in areas outside of the restaurant visible to our customers. After smoking, you must also immediately wash and sanitize your hands before returning to work. Gum chewing is also not permitted in any area of the restaurant.
SUNGLASSES | HELLO HOLLYWOOD!
We all know that you have a bright future at KFC, however, please only wear your sunglasses outside in the sun.
FINGERNAILS | HIGH FIVE
Although the Colonel preferred to keep his pants up with suspenders, we are okay with the more modern approach of using a belt, if you so choose. And just like your slip‑resistant shoes, we think black looks the best, but please, no studs.
JACKETS/SWEATERS | TOO COOL
Being a southern guy, the Colonel was not a fan of the cold and wouldn’t want anyone else to be cold. So always feel free to wear a clean black jacket or sweater and bear no logo other than KFC. And if you didn’t already know, Barco has some awesome KFC outerwear available for purchase.
Please be sure to keep your fingernails clean & neat. And if you are wearing nail polish or have acrylic nails, you will need to wear disposable gloves when handling food.

It’s okay if you have a tattoo. Just make sure that if it is visible it is not vulgar, offensive or obscene. It’s also okay if you have your ears pierced. However, visible piercings such as nose and tongue piercings and gauges larger than a dime are not permitted.
If you prefer to wear an undershirt under your uniform, please make sure it’s clean and either black, white or grey.
Things can get a little messy when you’re making chicken the hard way, but that’s what aprons are for. Most restaurants prefer to use disposable aprons; however, cloth aprons are also permitted. And definitely make sure to fold down or remove your apron before leaving the kitchen and entering the dining room area.
