Thursford founder John Cushing to urge rural Norfolk youngsters to get up steam! Successful Thursford entrepreneur John Cushing is keynote speaker at the Norfolk Way Enterprise Forum meeting on 22nd March at South Pickenham. He’ll describe how he turned his father’s hobby into the UK’s largest Christmas Show and urging the next generation of entrepreneurs to think big too. Also speaking will be 18 year old Stewart Bell, who was so inspired by a 6th form project to write a businessplan for a sweet shop that he decided to open one in Swaffham instead of going on to higher education. Stewart is the 6th generation of his family to start his own businessand coincidentally, his grandfather’s fairground steam engine is on display at Thursford. ‘Norfolk needs more young entrepreneurs,’ commented Norfolk Way Chairman and best-selling businessauthor Robert Ashton. ‘The Norfolk Way was founded by George Freeman, now a local MP, to make it easier for successful rural Norfolk entrepreneurs to work with schools to support the next generation. This event illustrates both ends of the age spectrum and how we hope to connect them.’ There will also be a panel debate on support for rural enterprise. Panelists will include Emma Finn from New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership, Richard Glinn from Foundation East, Jeremy Philippi from Anglia Farmers and George Freeman MP. Tickets for the event, which starts at 1800cost just £10 and can be obtained from http://bit.ly/yF442Eor by calling 01953605000 ENDS
