Since Lotus Caravans burst on to the scene 10 years ago other caravan businesses have been trying to catch up with our innovative design work. Although there may be lookalikes in the industry, we pride ourselves on staying ahead of the game, remaining pioneers and true originals. 2013 has been an incredible year here at Lotus Caravans, with record sales and production for the factory we are now extending our manufacturing facility to meet customer demands.

I was absolutely honoured to receive the Young Achievers Award in July. This prestigious industry award was recognition of my work with Lotus Caravans, a highlight of my career so far!

We’ve watched our brand grow enormously this year, with a huge increase in factory visits and record turnouts at shows throughout 2013. Our Lotus Trooper has gained a reputation as one of the leading Off Road models, with a great amount of industry recognition from manufacturing opposition.

After the success of our 10th year in business we have been busy behind the scenes, working extra hard to bring you an even more exciting range for 2014. Our factory is brimming with groundbreaking design work, expert craftsmanship and a very excited team! We are happy to announce that our new range is almost ready for launch in early 2014, so watch this space for some exclusive previews…

Lotus Caravans celebrate George Josevski’s Industry Award Our Director George Josevski was awarded the prestigious Young Achievers Award at the 2013 Industry Hall of Fame Dinner 2013.

This award recognizes his service to the industry and his achievements with Lotus Caravans since opening the company 10 years ago. George had previously worked in the industry for other caravan manufacturers where he learned his trade, but later decided he had his own ideas on how caravans should be built. He took the courageous step of opening his own business at a tender age of 21, where others were only starting a working career. His work ethics have managed to grow the company in to one of the leading brands in the country. Bravo George!

Pat Callinan’s BIG giveaway AND adventures with Lotus Trooper The sixth season of Pat Callinan’s legendary 4x4 Adventures kicked off on Sunday December 1st. Airing weekly on Network TEN at 1pm, you can watch Pat exploring the great open road. We are excited to announce that he will also be road tripping with a mighty Lotus Trooper Caravan! Pat will take viewers to destinations such as the Victorian High Country, the North Coast of NSW, the Scenic Rim and the Coffs Coast. But as well as this, he’ll be venturing into some of the most remote desert country in Australia, on the Anne Beadell Highway. To celebrate the epic Lotus Caravans road trip we have combined forces with the Pat Callinan team for a huge giveaway. Top tips for your summer break

Tyres Check your tyre pressure before commencing your trip. Most people overlook this simple checkpoint, so be sure to check your RV’s tyre pressure as you would with any other vehicle.

Pack strategically Pre season Pack strategically – place heavy items as low ventilation as possible in the caravan, preferably over the axle. Make sure they are secured to prevent any movement. If possible, place heavier items in the car and larger, lighter items in the caravan.

Circulate air throughout your caravan to avoid the musty locked up smell of winter. Coal is an excellent deodorizer, a secret tip from industry insiders!

Avoiding broken Towing tips crockery on the Take it EASY. Keep your cruising limit to 80km/h depending on your caravans legal bumpy open road orlimits100km/h and keep extra distance to anticipate traffic Buy a roll of anti-slip plastic matting to line your cupboards with, this way your valuables won’t slip around whilst travelling.

If you are travelling the outback, you need to keep your air ventilation systems covered to avoid a dusty interior. We recommend covering up your vents with duct tape to avoid bulldust on your travels.

Nothing tests the endurance of your van like the gutted corrugations of roads that lead to many iconic outback destinations. To avoid the ‘bump bump’ affect on the road we recommend deflating your tyres by 20%.

Mozzies Pack lemon balm in a sealy bag before you set off, keep mozzies at bay by burning lemon balm on a campfire – or rub the leaves on bites to reduce itchiness.

Taking care of your awning Your awning needs special attention in order for it to perform well in years to come. Ensure you remove and dirt and residue from the hood on a regular basis and always lower one edge so that rain and debris doesn’t sit stagnant on top of it. Always anchor the awning when possible to avoid twisting and ensure any joints are kept lubricated.

Don’t over pack Remember that extra weight burns extra fuel, don’t over pack for your summer trip!
