FEVICOL HI-PER
Anti-Bubble Waterproof Adhesive Bubble has always been a trouble in Woodworking especially in vertical laminations or large sheet laminations… And there can be numerous reasons for it : A. Workmanship B. Quality of Laminate/Plywood C. Expansion/Contraction in the Substrates in the process of curing D. Climatic Conditions – Humidity/Temperature While Adhesive is not directly responsible for Bubble Formation, it was realized that an adhesive with superior grab can reduce the chances of bubble formation to a great extent Fevicol Hi-Per powered with Anti-Bubble formula provides instant grab and uniform glue transfer leading to a strong contact between plywood & laminate. Hence there is a very little chance of air entrapment and contact gap which significantly reduces the probability of bubble formation. It also offers superior tack development, faster grab and reduced setting time FEATURES

PRECAUTIONARY STEPS
Apply adhesive using a notched spreader (only Heatx spreader) in single direction only, on both the surfaces. Use HeatX spreader only as any other spreader can dissolve in the solvent & affect the application
• In vertical application, keep 2mm gap between 2 adjacent laminates and width of each laminate should be maximum 2 ft
Apply first on the non porous surface and then on the porous surface
• Ensure fresh air supply during application
Apply Heatx in single direction and not in criss cross manner like the white adhesive
Give enough open time (5-12 mins) depending on climatic conditions. Ensure touch dry condition before pasting laminate. Take care of alignment as there is no scope of re-alignment once fixed, Always use a wooden log between 2 surfaces for better alignment Put a wooden log between the surfaces for better alignment and start pasting it from one direction Take laminate of little bigger size (1.5 to 2 mm ) than PLY so that it can be trimmed after pasting
• Never recommend HeatX for PVC/Acrylic or WPC boards • Ensure the lid of the tin is tightly shut after application(Solvent vapors saturation) • Ensure there are no open electric wires/fire sources during spraying • Prefer to USE PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

TROUBLE THE BUBBLE
TROUBLE THE BUBBLE SMALL BUBBLES
Make hole with small nail
Apply hot air (70 c) flow on bubble area using Hot Air Gun from 6 to 8 inch distance
Apply pressure using wet cloth as hard as possible with two hands in semi circular motion and try to join de-bonded portions. Try to remove air from nearby edges and join de-bonded portions by application of hard pressure with cloth
Apply hot air (70 c) flow on bubble area using Hot Air Gun from 6 to 8 inch distance
Using Syringe, inject diluted Fevicol Speedx/Marine from upward hole
BIG BUBBLES
Create small hole using 19/20 nos. of thin nail in upward direction and similarly create another small hole in downward direction of bubble
Press the bubble using cloth so that excess glue can come out from down ward direction
CAUSES AND REMEDIES WHAT SHOULD YOU DO, SO THAT BUBBLES DO NOT OCCUR? Know the possible causes of Bubbles and take precautions so that these causes do not affect the furniture application. Lets see the causes and the remedies… CAUSE 1 EXPANSION OF LAMINATION DUE TO HIGH LEVEL OF HUMIDITY In monsoon/high humidity climate, laminate tends to expand in width wise and very less in length wise REMEDIES USING RIGHT SIZE OF LAMINATE • Size of panel should restrict to 2 Ft in width and 8 Ft in Length • Keep distance of 2 mm between to adjacent laminate for expansion & avoid any overlapping
CAUSE 2 IMPROPER PRESSURE APPLICATION REMEDIES • In horizontal application, give uniform surface pressure with wet cloth by putting some heavy weight • In vertical panel application, apply strong pressure manually using wet cloth from middle portions to edge portions • More cautioning is required in case of thin laminate i.e. < 0.8 mm
CAUSE 3 HIGH MOISTURE CONTENT IN PLYWOOD REMEDIES • Cut laminate lengthwise (grain direction) and not width wise • While cutting the laminate at 90 degree; it is advisable to make a small hole of 2 or 3 mm diameter before proceeding for cutting
CAUSE 4 HIGH MOISTURE CONTENT IN PLYWOOD If plywood contains higher moisture - it swells and on drying it shrinks, in such situation stress development occurs within bond area and creates bubbles REMEDIES • Moisture content should be less than 12.00 % • If higher moisture content is there, then lower down upto 12 % using Hot air blower, Halogen lamp, under hotsun exposure etc.
CAUSE 5 SEEPAGE IN THE WALL Direct contact of plywood with a moisture/seeping wall. REMEDIES • Protect back side of the furniture using water resistant coating - Marin Koat
CAUSES AND REMEDIES CAUSE 6 IMPROPER LAMINATE ROLLING Rolling of laminate by keeping decorative portion on front side causes bending in “Ω “shape leading to spring back action while pasting. Hence, it becomes more prone to bubble formation REMEDIES Rolling of laminate by keeping decorative portion inside causes bending in “U” shape which is easily flattened by pressing followed by masking tape at edge portions while pasting
CAUSE 7 WRONG OPEN TIME If bonding is done above open time, then adhesive will dry and chances of bubble formation is more REMEDIES Keep appropriate open time in different climatic condition as under: • Summer – 6 to 10 Minutes • Monsoon and Winter - 8 to 12 Minutes
CAUSE 8 IMPROPER SPREADING Improper spreading with laminate pieces, brush, knife etc. REMEDIES • Use plastic notch spreader • Should have right consistency • Do not dilute the adhesive with water
CAUSE 9 SURFACE CONTAMINATION Surface contaminated with dust particles, dirt, oil marks, stick labels etc. can cause bubbles REMEDIES Surface should be properly cleaned before applying glue and laminate
CAUSE 10 BENDING & WARPAGE IN PLY/ LAMINATE Plywood in bend condition whith waviness / warpage creates bubbles REMEDIES Use straight ply and laminate • Cut improper edges of ply and laminate • Keep laminate under heavy pressure for 48 hrs
