Kitchen Professionals SW3051
In your opinion, why is it important for locals to shop in the Barossa? When people shop locally, a lot of the money stays within the community. We like to support other local businesses in the way we do business. We advertise in the local newspaper, we get local plumbers and electricians to help us in producing our kitchens and cabinets, our glass splashbacks come from a local supplier. I guess it’s like a domino effect – if you purchase through us, you end up supporting many other local businesses in the Barossa and may not even know it. We are determined to show locals that you don’t have to venture to places like Adelaide to get a premium quality kitchen; you can get it right here in the Valley. What do you enjoy most about operating a local business? Operating our own local business is one of the hardest things we have ever done, along with raising a young family – but it is also the most rewarding. What we have achieved so far in our short time in operation is above and beyond our expectations and we only have the Barossa community to thank. Operating a local business in the Barossa means that we can do what we are passionate about every day. We love being a business here in the Barossa. Everyone knows everyone, and we think that is a real benefit of working in such a tight knit community. What does your business offer? Do you have any specialties or exclusive benefits? Wohlers In your opinion, why is it important for locals to shop in the Barossa? We have so much on offer in the valley that there is rarely a need to shop elsewhere. It is important that, as a community, we appreciate this and continue to thrive in a strong positive economic environment. To shop locally puts the valley’s large and small businesses in a position to be able to offer a healthy level of employment. This in turn creates the complete Barossa lifestyle of being able to live, work and play in this beautiful region.
What are some of the advantages you have being a local business? A major advantage is being a retail store amongst a globally renowned food, wine and tourism region. When people have had enough to eat and drink, they always come shopping and love the Wohlers experience.

Villa Homewares & Gifts In your opinion, why is it important for locals to shop in the Barossa? Shopping locally means that the money spent stays local. At Villa we employ six locals with day to day operations and there is also other work sourced locally ie. local I.T. people, accountants, advertising forums, stationers to name just a few. Shopping locally ensures that business stays in and benefits the region. You cannot beat friendly, country style service. We have many city customers that choose shopping with us here in the Barossa, opposed to in town, as our range is extensive and in many cases we are cheaper than our city competitors. As well as friendly helpful staff, many local businesses have a very low attrition rate meaning that local employees are very experienced and knowledgeable in their products and services providing superior customer service. What do you enjoy most about operating a local business? We love interacting with the locals every day and who wouldn’t like to go to work every day in the Barossa Valley? Operating a business in Tanunda is very rewarding and you know you’re helping the locals. While the current economic climate can be challenging for retailers at times, we are constantly delighted by the great support we receive from our very loyal and growing customer base. The Villa team pass on a big thank you to all those customers. What are some of the advantages you have being a local business? The business saying ‘put your money where your house is’ fits the Villa story. Owner Deb Hann lives here in the Barossa Valley, works here and employs locals within the business and has been doing so for the last 20 years. You get to know your customers and learn what their needs are which is a definite advantage when building a business. Of course, owning and operating a business locally, using and supporting other local businesses keeps money working locally, helping strengthen the local economy, which is an advantage to all. Operating a Barossa business allows you the chance to support the locals. How do you achieve this? As afore mentioned, wherever possible, we try to source everything we need for the business locally, supporting the
local economy. We are also proudly associated with charitable organisations that support under privileged or disadvantaged locals. The store manager also volunteers one day a week as a trainee coach at The Barossa Light Riding for Disabled. We are a very socially conscious organisation. Like a lot of businesses, you do what you can to support worthy causes. At store level we offer our customers the best possible price on quality goods every day. In your opinion, why is it important for locals to shop in the Barossa? It helps to sustain our community, locally owned businesses undoubtedly build stronger communities. Supporting local business ensures that jobs are kept locally and people do not need to look elsewhere for work. The businesses around me have shown me nothing but support, it’s been amazing. My customers are all friendly, beautiful people who make the long hours worth it. What are some of the advantages you have being a local business? The biggest advantage is having the opportunity to buy locally made produce! A lady who lives in the

If anyone has any suggestions or recommendations on what they would like to see on the menu, I am all ears! In addition to this I pride myself on the delicious food we serve and our milkshakes!
