Together we stay stronger Over the last 12 weeks we have shared details and guidance on a wide range of Health & Wellbeing topics to help and support you during this unprecedented time. We understand that many different things contribute to your overall positive Health & Wellbeing and we have focused on mental, physical, financial and lifestyle aspects.

Mental wellbeing Until 12 July you can access Fearne Cotton’s ‘Happy Place’ virtual festival. This includes a free schedule full of passionate people promoting mental and physical wellbeing. Roam around the virtual grounds and find inspiration from the amazing performances, tutorials, and speakers that are making this festival so special so register now. You can also sign up for a free Happiful eMagazine which provides informative, inspiring and topical stories about mental health and wellbeing. NHS Every Mind Matters: Access expert advice and practical tips to help you look after your mental health and wellbeing. MIND: The charity are providing helpful information, tips and support for anyone who is worried about lockdown easing. CRUSE bereavement care: A charity offering support, advice and information to children, young people and adults when someone dies. Their fantastic work helps enhance societies care of bereaved people. On their website, you can find help, guidance and information on grieving during isolation. Mindfulness Mindfulness is one way of calming the mind and managing certain emotions. Our ‘Introduction to Mindfulness’ webinar provides information about the concept of mindfulness and an understanding of how, by adding mindfulness into your daily routine it may improve your resilience, reduce feelings of anxiety, develop levels of compassion and improve your overall wellbeing. The next 'Introduction to Mindfulness' session will take place on Tuesday 30 June from 10:00 – 10:45. Register now via MyLearning or check MyLearning for future dates. Our health partner, Vitality have also provided a number of Mindfulness Topic Webinars (Kindness, Confidence, Resilience, Wisdom & Happiness) hosted by their Mental Health & Wellbeing specialist coach Henri Saha. Remember – your physical health and wellbeing is not just achieved through exercise. A number of factors will help you to keep your physical wellbeing on track: Ensure that you have some form of exercise or get active every day. Drink in moderation and eat a well balanced diet. Stay hydrated and try to drink plenty of water or decaffeinated drinks. Get a good night’s sleep by turning your bedroom into a sanctuary of peace and tranquility.

Health and benefits consultant Mercer, have provided "a guide to money in the time of coronavirus", which gives a clear explanation of things that you can do that may help you stay on top of your financial wellbeing. If you are worried about your financial wellbeing then this in turn can have a huge effect on your mental and physical wellbeing.

Lifestyle We know that sometimes it can be difficult to manage the pressures of life or you may just want to speak to someone to get advice or support on an everyday issue – whatever the need there is support and help available to you: Employee Assistance Programme: Our EAP providers, Unum LifeWorks, offer someone to talk to in confidence. You can call them freephone on 0800 048 2702 or access tools, information and links on their website (user id: unum password: lifeworks). Construction Worker Helpline: Visit their website for further information or call them in confidence on freephone 0808 801 0372 (8am-8pm, 7 days a week). Samaritans: Get in touch about anything that’s troubling you, call free on 116 123 for 24/7 confidential support. Using technology to connect with friends and family During these times staying connected to friends and family can be challenging. Here are some tips on connecting digitally with your loved ones: Exchange stories, news, and life updates - Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp are popular services for group messages. Have face to face video chats in real time on your phone or computer using Skype, FaceTime, or another platform. Record special events, updates, and stories. Take photos or videos you can share with family and friends via text, email, or by sharing your online albums on Google Photos or Snapfish. Do activities online together – pub quizzes, virtual drinks together, cooking together. Continue to celebrate happy occasions remotely over video calls and chats. Worklife balance: If you are currently working from home, it is important that you take some time out every day from work, domestic tasks and home schooling for yourself, to relax and renew your energy levels, do something your enjoy, maybe try mindfulness or carry out some learning and development. Childcare / Parenting / Home-schooling: We appreciate that with some schools, nurseries and other childcare providers still closed, home schooling and occupying younger children is essential for many.
