Mental Health Awareness Week 10 -16 May Throughout May we’re supporting 'Mental Health Awareness Week' hosted by the Mental Health Foundation. The week is an opportunity for people to talk about all aspects of mental health, with a focus on providing help and advice.
Did you know we currently have 22 trained Mental Health First Aiders across the business? The role of our Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA) is to be a first point of contact for employees who are experiencing a mental health issue or emotional distress. You can also talk to a MHFA if you have any concerns about a colleague's mental wellbeing. Our MFHA are available for an informal and confidential chat if you need to reach out to someone, or can assist if you need further support from within the Company, for example via our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP). Details of all our trained MHFA can be found here. From May to October 2021 we are also training a further 70 Mental Health First Aiders.
Ways to improve your mental health There are many things you can do to improve your mental health. Research shows that there are five steps you can take to improve your mental health and wellbeing. It’s suggested that by following the ‘5 steps to wellbeing’ provided by the NHS, you’ll feel more positive and able to get the most out of life: 1. Connect with other people 2. Be physically active 3. Learn new skills 4. Give to others 5. Pay attention and take notice of the present moment (mindfulness)
