January 2022: A New Year The health and wellbeing of our employees has always been a priority, and it is essential for us to further provide help, support, education and signposting for colleagues to enable them to adopt a healthier lifestyle, in terms of their mental, physical, lifestyle and financial wellbeing.
Health and wellbeing support during 2021 Following the launch of our health and wellbeing strategy in 2017, we continue to review and evolve our offering to employees. We have made a number of changes in response to the pandemic to ensure our activities focus on the current and emerging health and wellbeing concerns around mental, physical and financial wellbeing. In addition we continue to use your feedback to inform and shape our health and wellbeing activity, which has included rolling out the following in the past year: Trained over 100 colleagues across the business to be accredited Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA’s). Trained a network of health and wellbeing champions who are there if you need initial confidential guidance to signposting to help available to you. Provided all eligible employees with access to a Barratt funded flu vaccine. Regularly updated and refreshed the Health & Wellbeing page on Our Place, colleagues’ one stop shop for information, resources and materials. Provided all sites with health and wellbeing scribble pads and posters to promote monthly themes and support services. Produced a Barratt health and wellbeing support concertina card that was sent out to all sites. Produced monthly health and wellbeing flyers communicating support to all employees. Continue to work towards our commitment to the Building Mental Health Charter. Rolled out further Mates in Mind ‘Manage the conversation’ training for Line Managers. Produced a hybrid working policy to demonstrate Barratt’s commitment to this new way of working. Rolled out retirement planning webinars to all employees with our wellbeing partners Close Brothers. Partnered with Salary Finance to provide all employees with access to a range of financial awareness support.
2022: Thinking about the year ahead This year we intend to focus on these key activities: Extend private medical cover to all employees with effect from 1 February 2022. Embed our MHFA’s across the business and work on our MHFA Support Plan. Introduce a voluntary Dental Plan benefit to all employees. Provide a mental wellbeing app to all employees to enable them to build resilience against stress, anxiety & depression. Provide Barratt funded flu vaccinations to eligible employees. Provide all sites and our hybrid workers with a 2022 health and wellbeing scribble pad and posters to promote each monthly theme and the support services available. Provide more variety of health and wellbeing support webinars, podcasts and videos. Sign up to Dying to Work Charter: setting out an agreed way in which our terminally ill employees will be supported, protected and guided throughout their employment, following a terminal diagnosis. Continue to proactively refer to employee feedback from employee surveys, Engagement Survey, Workforce Forum and health and wellbeing champions to shape activity and support.
2022 monthly health and wellbeing awareness communications Each month we will promote an initiative or awareness day alongside benefits in our newsletter which support our health and wellbeing topics and themes and will provide information, guidance, support, learning and much more.
