ABOUT US
EXTR AORDINARY CR AFTSMANSH IP
About Us At Barr Build we believe, first and foremost, in people. Together our team and our collaborators bring extraordinary design-led spaces to life. Each project is stamped with individuality, quality and exacting standards, whatever its mode or magnitude. The underlying thread, which runs through every Barr Build, is uncompromising attention to detail. Whether the project is architect, designer or client-led, a shared vision stays front and centre of every build. We work collaboratively throughout each project to achieve excellence with the ultimate goal of true client satisfaction.
The Directors As co-directors of the Barr Group, we are bound by one key factor, the pursuit of build excellence. Our shared goal is to achieve genuine client satisfaction, which we believe comes about through building spaces which truly enhance the lives of the people living and working within them. With more years of industry experience between us than we would care to admit, we have a substantial knowledge base. Having trained as apprentices ourselves and from there worked as skilled tradesmen and project managers, we are able to connect with and steer the day to day challenges faced by our teams. Further qualifications and extensive experience have enabled us to direct the most technically and logistically challenging of projects. We believe in the power of strong working relationships, between our clients, our teams and our collaborators and, as such, we play an active part in the running of every project.

Direct to Client As a separate, dedicated service, the Direct to Client Barr Build is personal and adaptable in approach. The process tends to be highly consultative, with significant Barr Build design input. A close working relationship between client, contracts manager and site foreman, ensures a smooth, stress free build. Direct to Client projects tend to be those where planning permissions, if required, are already in place and there is no further third party requirement. Works can commence quickly (within 6-12 weeks of initial enquiry) and are carefully tailored to client timelines and budgets, which the team pride themselves on meeting. The team offers consistent excellence in process and workmanship, whatever the style or size of the project.

Heritage Restoration Each heritage Barr Build is a carefully considered entity. Our craftsmen and women are trained in a broad range of heritage restoration skills and have experience of working on numerous listed buildings. Contracts with the National Trust, Chequers Trust, Rhodes House and Oxford University Colleges, as well as niche works for specialist heritage architects, have broadened the teams experience and provided opportunities to demonstrate their passion and expertise. The Barr Build heritage team operates according to the entrenched company value of attention to detail. Commendations from organisations such as the Oxfordshire Preservation Trust have been a proud endorsement of the team’s considered approach and uncompromising standards.
Commercial Our commercial projects portfolio includes works for churches, schools, restaurants, bars, offices and public buildings. Each commercial specification of works is tailored to the needs and logistics of that particular institution. Through working in some of the most restrictive commercial environments the team have learnt to operate flexibly, taking into consideration and finding solutions to inevitable site constraints. Our aim is to ensure minimal impact on the business whilst maintaining the highest standards of process and delivery.

Clients At the Barr Group our clients and collaborators inevitably become part of our organisational extended family. Often, we return for subsequent work phases, where it is a privilege to play a part in the evolution of our clients’ residences. Likewise, we often work with the same architects and interior designers multiple times over many years. Working relationships grow closer and the process even smoother as all parties develop a deeper understanding of each other’s ethos and processes. Whether working together for the first time or the tenth, some elements are fundamental: a collective, creative vision, a collaborative approach and a shared passion for design-led excellence which together become the driving force towards a truly excellent outcome.
