School History North Barrington Elementary is one of eight elementary schools in the Barrington 220 School District, serving grades K-5. The original North Barrington Elementary School opened in 1946, consolidating five one-room schoolhouses in the area. At the time of the school’s dedication, it was heralded as a “school for the motor age” because of special design features that accommodated students arriving by car and bus. Fifty years later, voters approved a referendum to rebuild North Barrington at the same site. The new NBS opened to students in 1998.

Pre-pandemic National Average
Due to the pandemic, students did not participate in state or local assessment in the spring of 2020. Across the district, students participated in winter testing during the 2019-20 school year and fall testing in September 2020. The graphs above show that not only does Barrington 220 continue to show improvement in average scores over time, but the difference between the district average and the pre-pandemic national average has been maintained.
