Ecology Zine Project

The Ecology Zine Project is a series of digital zines created by students in Barry O'Keefe's Bookmaking and Book Arts class at VCU Arts. Each semester, we choose a scientific paper, or policy document that might struggle to connect with a wide audience, and create illustrated zines that examine it from many different, highly accessible angles. In our first semesters, we considered the IPCC Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5 degrees. Next we looked at the IPBES report published in 2019 showing that Human Activity is driving more than 1 million species to extinction. In 2020 and 2021, we stayed local and looked at the RVA Green 2050 plan - the city of Richmond, Virginia's Climate Action plan.
