Message from The CEO As a 501c3 non-profit organization, the JCC relies on the support of the community, beyond memberships and program registrations. We are grateful to our many individual, corporate and foundation supporters that help us provide meaningful, affordable and high-quality programs and services. While there are many to thank, I’d like to share a few: Community First Health Plans has joined our J-family by providing direct support for our older adult transportation and meals program. We appreciate their sponsorship and commitment to providing access to services needed to live a healthier life.

CIGNA is our newest sponsor of the Texas Senior Games! This annual event, coordinated by the JCC, is an opportunity for adults age 50+ to engage in individual or team recreational and competitive events ranging from pickleball to softball to shuffleboard and more. We are grateful to CIGNA for being our partner in providing this annual event to more than 2,000 individuals that are focused on their physical and mental wellbeing. (See page 6 for Games registration and volunteer info.)

The Jewish Federation of San Antonio’s annual campaign provides support for the JCC and well beyond our walls! Their support to the JCC impacts our programs and services for our participants from birth through life. As they wrap up their annual campaign, I encourage you to consider supporting their efforts to help fulfill our mission and that of so many other organizations in the local and global Jewish community. You may find their campaign details at jfsatx.org/give/campaign.

Thank you for being part of our JCC family. Every visit you make, whether a camp dropoff, Arts and Culture event, or meeting, makes a difference to us and helps us achieve success. We appreciate you and hope to see you at one of our upcoming programs or events.

IIna Colemere is an intuitive art maker. Her moment of inspiration occurs with her first touch of the canvas. Her artwork is dusted with her DNA as her hands work to capture the spiritual conversation between the spirit of the canvas, her inner self, and her creative process. When she applies the first layer of medium with her hands and fingers, she allows the surface to guide her in creating ridged depressions with random unstructured shapes. These textured elements provide supporting layered channels for the intense, vibrant colors she uses to capture the story the canvas has to tell. These are orphaned embellishments until she adopts them as critical to the composition, as they provide a creative current for the visual articulation of her art. Ilna’s work carries her physical signature as well as her thumbprint, forever bonding her to her artwork. Because her work is responsive, her themes are driven by a combination of reflection, emotions and the sensory input of texture, color, line and shape. The constant need to fulfill the unconditional spiritual contract between the canvas and herself, takes on a life of its own tethering the muse of the canvas to her creative energy.
