Many people search in vain for a way to solve their problem with obesity. They try diet after diet without ever understanding what obesity really is. How can you find a cure when you don't know the cause? Obesity has been dramatically misunderstood in our society. Doctors spent untold time and effort searching for the cause of obesity but met with only disappointment. When years of research failed, doctors turned to the age-old myth of obesity that has heaped injustice upon the obese since the dawn of civilization. Myth #1 Fat people are obese because they eat too much. In the 1950s in a Rome clinic, Dr. ATW Simeons refused to believe that the cause of obesity could be explained in such a simplistic way. Overeating wasn't the cause of obesity, he maintained. Instead, it was obesity that caused overeating. Dr. Simeons struggled to develop a framework that could explain obesity in real medical terms. If medical science was to develop a method for treating obesity, it had to be held in the same light as any other medical problem. So Dr. Simeons formulated the following "maxims," or truths, to help develop a basic framework for investigating obesity. These maxims eventually led to the development of Dr. Simeons' HCG diet and, later, homeopathic HCG drops. When you understand the import of these truths, you'll experience a sudden and astonishing feeling of freedom from the old myths and injustices about obesity. Maxim #1 Obesity is a disorder. A disorder is a malfunction in some part of the body. Disorders happen when an organ or other body part stops working like it should. Therefore, the onset of obesity occurs when a specific part of the body fails. Maxim #2 Every ounce of abnormal fat is a result of obesity. This maxim is followed by an ancillary maxim: Obesity is the only thing that causes abnormal fat to accumulate. This means that you can gain a limited amount of weight without having the obesity disorder. Once you start to accumulate abnormal fat deposits in the belly, thighs, hips, and so forth, you then have obesity. That kind of fat can't result from anything else, otherwise it's not obesity.
Maxim #3 Overeating does not cause obesity. Instead, obesity causes overeating. We've already seen this maxim. It was actually the first one Dr. Simeons developed: If obesity is caused by a failed body part, it can't be caused by overeating. This maxim explains why obese people are stricken by sudden attacks of hunger that only seem to be assuaged by eating the closest sweets at hand. These hunger attacks aren't the same thing as compulsive eating--they aren't psychological. They're physical. An obese body is larger than a normal one, and it requires more calories to maintain. From experience, the body knows that sugar provides the most caloric impact in the shortest amount of time. Therefore, it sends signals triggering a desire for sweets. Maxim #4 If you suffer from obesity, you will get fat no matter how little you eat. Obesity is caused by a bodily failure. If that body part fails, you have obesity and you will get fat. You can try to reduce your food intake, but the malfunction in your body still tries desperately to feed and protect those abnormal fat deposits. They are the last to go and the first to come back-and they will come back. The disorder guarantees it. Maxim #5 If you do not suffer from obesity, you will never get fat, no matter how much you eat. Have you ever known someone who somehow managed to stay skinny no matter what they ate? Those are the lucky people who haven't been struck by the obesity disorder. Without that disorder, you can eat as much as you want and still never get fat. Freedom from Injustice Now that you know the truth about obesity, you can free yourself from the weight of injustice that our society heaps upon you. Obesity and overeating don't signal a weak will or uncontrollable gluttony. They simply mean that some part of the body has failed. This also means that freedom from obesity itself is in sight. The framework that helps us understand obesity also enabled Dr. Simeons to develop a way to target the specific bodily mechanism that causes obesity. This method is known as the HCG diet. HCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin, is a hormone that targets a specific organ within the brain called the diencephalon. When combined with a specific low-calorie diet, HCG corrects the malfunction and rebalances the diencephalon, allowing you to lose weight quickly and keep it off.
