KAPADI ARCHITECT The architect is merely the curator. He sanctifies and celebrates a phenomenon which predates his involvement. He has complete authorship for it is his intervention that recognizes and makes possible the appreciation of the subject, yet the subject is itself authentic with or without an architect. It is this older authenticity, which originates from the events and social circumstances of the past, that gives weight to the subject.

TRANSPORTATION HUB V A S H I ,

N A V I

SEMESTER: 9 TYPE: TRANSPORTATION / COMMERCIAL

M U M B A I

IDEA- CONCEPT Existing site has fishing activities taking place. Site connected to water body and transition of mangrooves. While designing a public element - transportation hub which would be combnation of transport and commercial activity. So circulation is designed in a such a way that existing activities are not affected by new proposal and it would help them to sell fishes in the site itself to people using the hub. Focusing on the USER Experience , the user can get the view of water body with winds entering the structure with slight salty sea smell. A structure should always be the transition for context and user. STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS are designed in scupltural form which make the user experience the built form as a sculpture and be part of it.

IDEA- CONCEPT Another proposal was to use mangrooves as spreading awareness as how the mangrooves are helpful for our nature. How it helps us from the floods and how we should save them. As this was public structure people would come from various areas so it can be a decent stratergy to use this built form for nature cause.

IDEA- CONCEPT After documenting the Site, the people living there. What I observed the emotion of community, togetherness.etc. there were pockets which were unconsciously created by the people for gathering. What we usually face that , when new development takes place the communal emotion of previous generation is chopped off. So the idea was to maintain that emotion even after new development takes place and when more families settle here they get feeling of community , togetherness.etc. There are double height pockets which are provided for multiUse for everyone. it can be used as space for tuitions with benches or someone with small business or a open gym concept or a meeting space.etc with view of the whole area. A common amphitheatre has been provided joining two wings for festival purpose and events.

STILT

SITE CONTEXT The challenge while Designing was the minimal site area, requirement of the clients were allocating TWO families separately in this small plot. Idea was to design each unit as duplex for each family, dividing site into front and back. As this is second home for clients and currently living in flat system in Mumbai. So, by giving a feeling of duplex-own personal bunglow with scope of extending on 3rd floor as well, which could not be achieved in flat system or floor per family. Using staircase as the lungs for each Unit to make it more breathable and self air circulatory. Maximum View has been Achieved. Providng balconies for transition between interior and exterior ,to give modern element in vernacular site context.
